Yondu Udonta is the Captain of the Ravagers who had been hired by Ego to deliver his child to him but when the Ravagers accidentally kidnapped T'Challa instead, Udonta decided to raise him as his own son. With T'Challa joining the ranks of the Ravagers, the entire organization changed, turning their attention to restore the balance in the galaxy by helping the weak. Udonta joined the Ravagers in the mission to steal the Embers of Genesis from the Collector, however, during the mission, T'Challa had found out that Udonta lied to him about Wakanda's demise. Later, Udonta helped T'Challa to take down the Collector and they both escaped Knowhere before T'Challa made a decision to return to Wakanda, together with his new family, the Ravagers.
Biography[]
Meeting T'Challa[]
Failed Abduction[]

Udonta meets T'Challa
- "You morons grabbed the wrong kid!"
- âYondu Udonta to Kraglin Obfonteri and Taserface[src]
In 1988, Yondu Udonta tasked Kraglin and Taserface to retrieve the offspring of Ego from Earth. However, they abducted T'Challa from Wakanda by mistake. Admiring the coolness of the young Wakandan and his desire to explore the galaxy, Udonta decided to keep T'Challa with him, offering him to explore far beyond a single world.[1]
Helping T'Challa[]

Udonta helps Star-Lord
T'Challa was able to tranform the Ravagers into a peaceful team who helped the poor by stealing from the rich. T'Challa gained a great reputation as Star-Lord and even turned the Mad Titan, Thanos into a good guy. In order to help find a power source, Star-Lord went to Morag to find the Power Stone. When T'Challa came out of the temple, he asked for assistance, saying a Ravager never flew solo. Udonta was late, but was able to kill all of the Sakaarans with his arrow before casually walking with Star-Lord, who was excited about what they could do with the power source. T'Challa was also able to grab an enemy turned fan of his, Korath the Pursuer.[1]
Planning A Heist[]
The Ravagers then went to Contraxia to hang out at the bar. Udonta was then proposed an idea by Star-Lord and Nebula. Nebula found an item called the Embers of Genesis that could grow plants around many planets, giving life to billions of people. Udonta liked the idea, but immediately backed down when he was told the Embers were in Collector's Museum.
Udonta was looking out the window of the ship when Star-Lord approached him. They talked for a little before T'Challa talked about how much good they could do with the item. Although Udonta was worried about approaching the kingpin that is the Collector, he said that he could not say no to T'Challa.[1]
Arrested By The Collector[]
The Ravagers arrived on Knowhere to visit the Collector. Thanos and Korath the Pursuer staged a fight to distract the Black Order while Udonta, Star-Lord and Nebula talked to the Collector. Tivan talked to Nebula, but Udonta just wanted to talk business. Collector responded to this, saying that he remembered when the Ravagers were fun. Udonta pointed out how T'Challa changed him for the better.

Udonta in jail
When T'Challa moved off to get the Embers of Genesis, Udonta was back stabbed by Nebula, who said she had a debt with the Collector. She then apprehended Udonta as well as the other Ravagers, putting them in jail. Later, T'Challa arrived, also arrested. T'Challa got mad at Udonta as he figured out the truth of how he was taken from Earth. Udonta claimed he was protecting T'Challa, but the latter wanted nothing of it. T'Challa was then taken to the vault to be put on display. Soon, Nebula arrived and broke them free, explaining that this was always part of the plan with T'Challa. She said that T'Challa always knew she would turn on him and they were using it to their advantage.[1]
Defeating Collector[]

Udonta faces off against Collector
Udonta broke off in hopes of freeing Star-Lord. He arrived with T'Challa fighting Collector, who had many weapons. Udonta repeatedly used his arrow on Collector, which barely did damage to his armor. The Collector then caught the arrow and snapped it in half. Udonta and T'Challa charged at Collector, but were easily thrown off. Udonta and T'Challa decided to do sticky fingers, with Udonta being the pawn because he lied to T'Challa. Udonta charged at Collector and was repeatedly punched before thrown. However, he was able to grab onto Collector's bracelet, which controlled his weapons. This allowed T'Challa to kncok him into a cell, leaving his broken out collections to deal with him.[1]
Fleeing Knowhere[]

Udonta and T'Challa in the Royal Talon Fighter
- "Seen a lot of space travelers in my day, kid. And if I've learned anything from watching you, on any planet, among any people, there ain't no place in this galaxy where you don't belong. Where you want to be, that's the question, isn't it? You're just gonna have to follow your heart on that one, Mr. Star-Lord."
- âYondu Udonta to T'Challa[src]
Managing to escape aboard the Wakandan ship, Udonta noticed the presence of Cosmo, remarking that they had a stowaway, before apologizing to T'Challa for lying to him. T'Challa then expressed that he did not know where he belonged until Udonta assured him that there was not a single place in all the galaxies where he was not at home, the question being where he feels in his place.

Following this, the Ravagers travelled to Earth in Wakanda so T'Challa could be reunited with his family. The Wakandans had a celebration for T'Challa's return where Udonta was introduced to T'Challa's father and mother. While talking, T'Chaka still wondered how T'Challa was abducted. Udonta went to explain, but T'Challa stopped him and lied, saying that Udonta simply helped him out.[1]
