Plot[]
In Tony Stark's workshop, Stark tells J.A.R.V.I.S. that he needs the right suit to fight the Mandarin. This prompts J.A.R.V.I.S. to start going over all of Stark's suits. He first starts with the Iron Man Armor: Mark I. J.A.R.V.I.S. then briefly goes over Marks II-VI. J.A.R.V.I.S. then jumps ahead to the Mark XLII. J.A.R.V.I.S. recommends this armor to fight the Mandarin but decides to go over his "specialty armors". J.A.R.V.I.S. then covers each of them one by one. Stark smiled, realizing how many suits he's made. He wished he could take all his armors against the Mandarin but he settles on taking one, choosing the Mark XLII. He puts it on successfully, ready to take on the Mandarin.

Behind the Scenes[]
Continuity[]
The book is primarily a reference book for the Iron Man Armors; However, it does tell an original framing story that can only be set while Iron Man was preparing to fight the Mandarin during Iron Man 3. This book has no substantial contradictions with the continuity of the MCU, however, this book does contain a couple small discrepancies with the film.
The first of which is that the book states that the Iron Man Armor: Mark XLII is controlled by a "state-of-the-art chip implanted in your left arm," implying it is controlled by only one chip while in Iron Man 3 it states that it is controlled from multiple chips in his arms. It also includes the line "Tony would love to take ALL of the Iron Man armors into battle against the Mandarin and his Extremis soldiers," Stark should not know about Extremis at this point so it can be explained since this line is semi-out-of-universe, with Stark himself simply thinking of those who attacked Happy Hogan. Therefore, since there has never been any official statement confirming its canonicity, it is considered unconfirmed canon by our Canon Policy.
This book reuses artwork from Iron Man 3: The Movie Storybook and Iron Man 3: Iron Man Fights Back. Due to this slight oddities occur. The book will use examples from events that have not happened yet. (i.e. Showing all the suits flying during the Battle on the Norco). And at the end, when Tony Stark suits up in the Mark XLII Iron Man Armor at his mansion, the book uses artwork of Tony Stark suiting up after his Infiltration into the Mandarin's Mansion from Iron Man 3: The Movie Storybook. Due to these oddities being out-of-universe or a contradiction between the book and itself, these do not effect the book's canonicity.
