Multiverse Discovered
"He discovered that there were universes stacked on top of his own..."
The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "Super Soldier Peggy Carter Universe".

"I'm still that skinny kid from Brooklyn, now just in a big metal suit."
"You're more than the suit. The suit is nothing without the man inside. You're my hero, Steve."
―Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter[src]

Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers is a former Project Rebirth test subject, who was supposed to be injected with the Super Soldier Serum and become the world's first super soldier to fight in the World War II. During the HYDRA attack, Rogers was wounded by Heinz Kruger, forcing Peggy Carter to become the super soldier instead. Although unfit to serve in the military, Rogers was equipped with the suit of armor, designed by Howard Stark and powered by the Tesseract, and joined the war efforts as the HYDRA Stomper. In a later mission, Rogers and his suit were captured by HYDRA, as the Red Skull was going to use the Tesseract to summon the Champion of HYDRA. When Carter and the Howling Commandos attacked Castle de Krake, Rogers was briefly reunited with Carter, before she sacrificed herself to stop the Champion by going through a wormhole.

As the war ended, Rogers continued his fight against HYDRA, but was seemingly killed in action during his last mission. In reality, Rogers was captured by the Red Room and turned into their operative, with his armor keeping him alive throughout the decades. On one mission, he was reunited with Captain Carter, who desperately tried to make Rogers come back to his senses. He was used by Melina Vostokoff to lure Carter and Black Widow into a trap, making Rogers fight his former love. However, Carter managed to get through to Rogers, so he destroyed the Red Room Academy and disappeared in the process.

World War II[]

Attack on SSR Brooklyn Facility[]

"All this to make one super soldier."
"Paris has fallen. London might be next. If this works, you could end the war. We mere mortals can only dream of doing such things."

Rogers joins Project Rebirth

Being unfit for the United States Army, Steve Rogers joined Project Rebirth to become the first super soldier during the World War II. Before the process begun Rogers asked Peggy Carter if it was all necessary, which Carter told him how more places would fall by the Third Reich without a super soldier. Rogers got in the Rebirth Pod to be injected with the Super Soldier Serum when Heinz Kruger detonated an explosive causing chaos around with Kruger blowing up Abraham Erskine, shooting Chester Phillips dead, and attempting to steal the serum.

Rogers tried to help but was shot by Kruger, before Carter killed him and tried to help Rogers. When John Flynn ordered Rogers or Howard Stark to take the serum, Carter knew they had to hurry so she told Rogers she'll be back before taking the serum herself. When she emerged from the chamber, Rogers along with Stark was amazed by Carter's new physique, with Stark saying the project was a success.[2]

Comforting Carter[]

Rogers speaks with Peggy Carter

"I'm sorry. You were meant to be the one to end the war."
"Now you will. And don't worry about me. I never was much of a dancer anyway."
"Maybe you haven't found the right partner."
―Peggy Carter and Steve Rogers[src]

John Flynn however saw the Project Rebirth as a failure and sidelined Peggy Carter along with the recovering Rogers. While Rogers was trying to recover on walking, he saw Carter was letting her anger out by tossing dumbbell disks at the wall saying as she wished to do that to Adolf Hitler. Rogers told Carter that at least she wasn't being forced into doing USO tours, selling war bonds, and being told to smile all the time. Rogers told Carter how he never could dance with someone, while Carter noted that he never had the right partner.

Rogers then noticed some troops marching out the window and lamented how his friend Bucky Barnes' troop had been missing for some time. Carter, Stark, and Flynn later found a group of HYDRA soldiers escorting Arnim Zola and the Tesseract from TĂžnsberg with Flynn denied retrieving, causing Carter and Stark to go behind his back and send the newly minted Captain Carter to successively retrieve both. Stark later used the Tesseract to power an armored suit designed by him, summoning and asking Rogers if he was ready to join the war effort.[2]

HYDRA Stomper in Action[]

"Air support. Send air support."
"Copy that. Rogers inbound."
―Captain Carter and HYDRA Stomper[src]

Rogers, Captain Carter, and the Howling Commandos were sent on a mission to intercept the Schnellzug EB912, which the Red Skull was on. As needed on the mission, Rogers needed a confirmation that the HYDRA leader was indeed on the train, so he broke the hull of the train to gain a visual. This was when Rogers learned that the train was full of explosives. He attempted to signal the rest of the crew before the explosives detonated, presumably taking Rogers down with the train. Broken by the turn of events, this fueled Carter even more to put a stop to HYDRA.[2]

Captured by HYDRA[]

Rogers armors up to fight HYDRA

"Come on, pal, don't give up on me. Hey, I need a hand! Come on, help me get him out of here!"
"No. You gotta get me in the suit."
―Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers[src]

Presumed dead by his allies and Peggy Carter, Rogers was captured by HYDRA along with his armor. Rogers was left on the floor, while his armor was presumably being inspected and experimented on. Later on, Captain Carter and the Howling Commandos attacked the castle Rogers was being kept. Rogers was found by Bucky Barnes and insisted that he needed to once again don the HYDRA Stomper armor so he can join the fight against HYDRA.[2]

Final Promise[]

"I have to. I can end this."
"You owe me a dance lesson."
"Yes, Saturday night."
―Captain Carter and Steve Rogers[src]

Flying through the floors of the Castle de Krake, Rogers bursted in front of Peggy Carter, surprising her as the Champion of HYDRA slammed him into a wall. Soon, Bucky Barnes and the rest of the Howling Commandos arrived to see the Champion of HYDRA, opening fire on the creature. However, it became enraged, yelling out and destroying the Castle. Carter ordered Rogers to save the others as he grabbed the Commandos and dropped them off outside the Castle. Rogers flew back to the castle, hoping to save Carter from the Champion of HYDRA. As he arrived, he tried to torch it as the armor ran out of fuel, causing him to crash to the floor.

As Rogers got out of the armor, he called to Carter and tried to stop her. Knowing that her sacrifice was necessary, Rogers jokingly reminded her to give him a dance lesson as Carter promised him. Fearful of what was about to happen, Rogers watched as Carter pushed the Champion of HYDRA back into the portal as it closed, sending a blast of energy that destroyed the castle. Regaining his senses, Rogers looked for Carter, though there was nothing to be found except for the Tesseract. Rogers walked towards it and kneeled next to it, tearing up because of Carter's sacrifice.[2]

Post-World War II[]

Hunting HYDRA[]

"I spent years going after HYDRA. As long as I was on a mission, I could pretend you weren't gone."
―Steve Rogers to Captain Carter[src]

After World War II, Rogers and Bucky Barnes formed their own two-man army and destroyed every HYDRA base on Earth until their last mission supposedly claimed Rogers' life in 1953. Unbeknownst to anyone, Rogers survived and was captured by the Red Room along with the HYDRA Stomper armor which Howard Stark had developed a new power source for.[3]

Controlled by the Red Room[]

"I don't remember much. When I was awake, the suit was in control. It was like watching the world through fogged glass."
―Steve Rogers to Captain Carter[src]

"The HYDRA Stomper?"
"Yeah, and there's someone inside."
―Captain Carter and Black Widow[src]

At one point, the HYDRA Stomper Armor: Mark II with Rogers in cryostasis was discovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. and put on Lemurian Star for transportation. However, the cargo was targeted by Georges Batroc who ordered his team to hijack the ship and take the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent hostage. After the Lemurian Star was retaken by the STRIKE team, led by Captain Carter and Black Widow, they discovered the armor in the ship's cargo and Black Widow informed Carter that Rogers was inside, much to her joy.[4] However when Rogers awakened, he attacked Carter and Widow, much to their surprise.[3]

Attack on Bucky Barnes[]

"Come on, man. It's me. It's Bucky. Remember me? This ain't you. Let's get a drink. Like the old days. What do you say, buddy?"
―Bucky Barnes to HYDRA Stomper[src]

Personality[]

"I'm up for anything, but this is crazy."
"Yeah, so is Steve Rogers."
―Dum Dum Dugan and Bucky Barnes[src]

Rogers is much like his main universe counterpart, having the courage, patriotism, and righteousness to do what is right and was selected to take the serum for these traits. His excitement for the fight after he gains the HYDRA Stomper Armor: Mark I and his love for Peggy Carter fuels his confidence in battle and strength to fight.
