Wing Mario is a powerup of Mario that is used in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. It won't be able to be activated until Mario has collected 10 stars, And in the DS version, have unlocked Mario. It is the first item activated on the top of the castle. After that, Mario can fly around and collect Red Coins to earn a secret castle star. In order to become Wing Mario, Mario must put on the Wing Cap. In Super Mario 64 DS's VS. mode, Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario can use the wings.
Powers and abilities[]
Wing Mario has the ability to fly around for a limited amount of time. Mario is able to access higher areas that he cannot normally reach himself. However, Wing Mario can be a tad difficult to handle at first since the player has to fly down then fly back up to gain speed. Wing Mario can stay activated as long Mario grabs another Wing Cap before the power-up's time limit ends.

In Super Mario Galaxy, a form known as Flying Mario is similar to Wing Mario. However, Flying Mario is easier to handle and his transformation lasts longer.
