Super Mario

Elevator Tour in the Volcano is the sixth mission of Lethal Lava Land in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS, the latter of which renames it to Inside the Volcano. Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano is the last mission of Lethal Lava Land in the original version, but in the remake, it is the penultimate mission, followed by Flaming Silver Stars.

Layout[]

Most of the mission takes place inside of a volcano in the center of Lethal Lava Land. The general layout of Lethal Lava Land is almost identical, so the mission can be completed out of sequential order. Returning from Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano is a ! Block containing a Shiny Shell, located the right end of the starting platform, and riding on it is an alternate way to enter the volcano's opening.

Objective[]

Most of the mission takes place in the center volcano, which is accessed in the same way as the previous mission, Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano. Once Mario (or Yoshi, Luigi, or Wario in Super Mario 64 DS) lands on a platform at the bottom of the volcano, he has to jump onto an elevator behind him. In doing so, the elevator rides Mario up a track. When the elevator reaches the end, Mario must quickly jump onto the second elevator, as the first one falls into the lava when reaching the end of its track. The second elevator takes Mario further up the volcano to a very small platform with a pole, which has a Fire Arm at the top (later removed in Super Mario 64 DS). Mario has to pass the Fire-Bar and go up the next pole, followed by a few small platforms that lead to the Power Star at the top.
