Bob-omb Derby is a minigame featured in both Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers. In both games, the minigame takes place in Mario Stadium during the nighttime.

Gameplay[]

The minigame involves the player's character having to use their baseball bat to hit Bob-ombs individually spit out to them by a machine. An item roulette reminiscent of the one from the Mario Kart series alternates between a Mushroom, Fire Flower, Star, Fireball, King Bob-omb, and a Question Mark; the first four determine the speed in which a Bob-omb is spit out, the King Bob-omb instead spits out a King Bob-omb, and the Question Mark spits out a Bob-omb at a varying speed (although not a King Bob-omb).

Whenever a Bob-omb is hit, it launches off into the sky, automatically becoming a home-run, and explodes into fireworks, accompanied by the crowd cheering and the player's character earning points. Sometimes the Bob-omb goes beyond the foul line, in which case it is listed as a foul ball.
