Big Ben is a real-world building on Earth.

Description[]

It is a famous bell in the Houses of Parliament, located in London, England. However, the name "Big Ben" often refers to the clock tower housing the bell, possibly because of the tower's iconic look, when the tower itself is actually named Elizabeth Tower, renamed from Clock Tower in 2012.

In Mario is Missing![]

In Mario Kart series[]

Mario Kart Tour[]

Big Ben is one of several landmarks seen throughout London Loop, although Big Ben is only for aesthetic and does not serve any gameplay purpose. In the first two routes, Big is located right next to the road, directly in front of the finish line on the left, but in London Loop 3, it is behind the finish line. The clock of Elizabeth Tower always shows the hour hand on eight and the minute hand on one minute past, and the clock hands do not move.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Booster Course Pass)[]

In the third wave, with the inclusion of Tour London Loop, Big Ben also makes a returning appearance.

Crossover appearances[]

Mario & Sonic series[]

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii)[]

Because the London 2012 Olympics takes place in England, the Clock Tower is seen several times. It is first seen throughout the opening cinematic, which concludes with Mario and Sonic standing on top of the Clock Tower at the end.

The tower is a landmark in London Party, but it also serves as a countdown timer until the next Event. The clock's face is on the lower-right corner of the HUD while leading up to the event with a ticking sound, and the clock strikes every sixth hour (12am, 6am, 12pm, and 6pm) to indicate when the next Event begins.

Fences themed to Big Ben appear in Equestrian - Show Jumping.

An image of the clock face and top of the tower appears on the sticker earned for completing the Collect Shy Guy's Coins! minigame.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Nintendo 3DS)[]

Like in the Wii version, the Clock Tower is featured prominently, especially in Story Mode, where Big Ben has a role. Dr. Eggman even set up his lab in the interior of the Clock Tower.
