Kalimari Desert 2 is a race course from Mario Kart Tour that debuted in the Wild West Tour. As its name implies, it is a rerouted version of Mario Kart 64's Kalimari Desert, which itself debuted in the Tokyo Tour.
Layout[]
Racers start this course in the same spot they started the original Kalimari Desert. As the track curves southward, they will notice that the first railroad crossing has a ramp that goes over the tracks. After the crossing, the racers will also notice that the second glider shortcut that was added in Mario Kart 7 has been removed; however, the first glider shortcut can still be used. The track curves to the right, leading to a second railroad crossing where it goes southwest; here, the racers are forced onto the train tracks, leading to a smoother, wider turn as they are forced into the tunnel due to a barrier, where a sign with the modern Mario Kart franchise's logo appears at the entrance. This sign marks the start of the second section. The racers continue through the tunnel while the tracks curve to the left. The racers continue heading south along the tracks on the west side until they reach the second intersection, whereupon they divert southwest onto the original path. The rest of the course plays like Kalimari Desert.
Due to the length, the laps have been cut down from the standard 2 to 1.
In Mario Kart 8, Kalimari Desert was brought back as a race course. It retains its first lap, although the racers can no longer enter the tunnel during said lap. The last two laps have been replaced with Kalimari Desert 2, second checkpoint included. One of the trains has been removed. Unlike in Kalimari Desert 2, the racers go through the first crossing normally, without a ramp, while a ramp appears at the second crossing to avoid obstructing the train.
Trivia[]
- This course's layout may have been derived from the lap glitch from the original Kalimari Desert.
