~ Mr. Freeze most famous quote. |
Dr. Victor Fries, later known as Mr. Freeze, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Poison Ivy) of Batman & Robin, the fourth installment of Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher's Batman film and comic series.
He is a mutated scientist who seeks to find a cure for his wife's malady, no matter the costs, leading him to join forces with Poison Ivy and Bane.
He was portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also played the T-800 in The Terminator.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He freezes several people, including a policeman, who begged for mercy and one of his own henchmen.
- He tried to have a capsule explode in Gotham, which Batman states could have slaughtered thousands of people.
- He froze Robin and told Batman to either save Robin or himself, taunting Batman over it.
- He planned to steal enough diamonds in Gotham to use a device that would freeze the city and hold Gotham ransom for billions of dollars so he could complete his research to create a cure for his wife.
- After Poison Ivy makes him think Batman killed his wife, Freeze not only decides to continue his plan of trying to freeze all of Gotham and kill its population, but he also decides to freeze Earth and kill everyone except for himself and Ivy, saying that humanity will suffer alongside him.
- He froze a huge part of Gotham City, causing many to freeze , though fortunately, they where unfrozen by Batman .
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is tragic as his wife was diagnosed with advanced MacGregor's Syndrome, and a lab accident caused him to be unable to survive in above-freezing temperatures.
- He is an anti-villain because his main reason for turning to villainy was to try to cure his wife, which makes his goal rather noble.
- He has many comedic and exaggerated moments that make him too silly for the viewers to take him seriously, such as making tons of ice puns and his goofy Schwarzenegger-esque mannerisms and also forcing his henchmen to sing Snow Miser's Song, all the while wearing a bathrobe and polar bear slippers.
- He redeems himself at the end of the movie. After Batman asks him to share the cure for the first stage of MacGregor's Syndrome, Freeze complies, gives him the cure, and vows to make Ivy’s life a living hell for her treachery.
Trivia[]
- He is currently one of the two incarnations of Mr. Freeze to be Inconsistently Heinous, alongside his DC animated universe version, whom he was inspired of.
