~ Rabbid Mario |
Rabbid Mario is one of the Rabbid protagonists that appears in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and its sequel Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.
He is voiced by David Gasman in the sequel.
Personality[]
Taking traits from his namesake, Rabbid Mario is a strong, fearless, and adventurous hero who brags about his strength and is not one to back down from a challenge that gets thrown at him. Unlike his counterpart however, he is also shown to be very arrogant and has an ego as well, which is shown when he boasts about his abilities on multiple times. He is also mischievous like the rest of the Rabbids and he is also shown to love music as shown when he demonstrates the ability to play the mandolin, which he uses to play many memorable Super Mario themes.
Rabbid Mario is also something of a hopeless romantic as shown in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, often trying to get into a relationship with some of the Rabbid girls, though they don't return their feelings to him. He was somewhat interested in Rabbid Peach, which she ignores in favor of Mario himself. In Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope he also finds Bedrock attractive, but he never tries to begin any relationship with her due to her being an obvious enemy. The most notable case was when he immediately falls in love with Edge and has made several attempts to get her to reciprocate his romantic gestures, but he does not succeed, as Edge is not interested in being in a relationship with anyone. Attempts have included smiling at her during dance party when she isn't taking part, making a muscular snowman of himself, him jumping into her arms in fear of an angry Wiggler, stating that he and Edge would "make quite a pair" and him telling her about the time she "nearly fainted at the sight of his enormous biceps".
Appearance[]
Rabbid Mario wears attire that resembles his namesake. He has a red cap labeled with the M symbol on his head, blue overalls that covers much of his torso, and sports a styled moustache which resembles Mario's own.
Aside from these distinctions, Rabbid Mario has many of the usual Rabbid features in terms of appearance. He has white fur covering most of his body, stubby legs and hands with no visible fingers, a rounded head with long ears, a pair of bulging blue eyes, and a mouth containing two teeth that can open very wide.
Powers and Abilities[]
Rabbid Mario specializes in close range combat, having excellent strength and mobility, but lacks in defense. In Kingdom Battle, Rabbid Mario's primary weapon is the Boomshot and his secondary weapon is the Melee making him effective in close range and area attacks unlike Mario. For movement, Rabbid Mario has the unique Boom Dash that can create shockwaves that will affect surrounding enemies as well as the main target, though it will affect allies within the vicinity. Rabbid Mario's first ability is the Bodyguard which defends against movement-based attacks which Princess Peach's Protection can also reduce damage from weapons. His second ability is Magnet Dance, forces enemies to approach Rabbid Mario which any active line-of-sight attacks will take effect and do damage.
In Sparks of Hope, Rabbid Mario now wields The Dukes, steel-like gauntlets that can even attack foes behind full cover. His technique is Counter Blow which will cause him to retaliate against any foe that attacks him.
Other Media[]
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
Rabbid Mario appears in the game as a Primary Spirit.
Trivia[]
- Rabbid Mario's Italian-Brooklyn accent is a clear nod to the pre-N64 era's Mario, such as the Marios from the cartoon, the CD-i, and the live-action film, who all have Brooklyn accents.
