"Hamster Ex Machina" is the first segment of the thirteenth episode of the second season of Hamster & Gretel, and the eighty-second episode overall. It is paired with "Awkwardly Ever After" and premiered on Disney Channel on January 19, 2025.[2]
Two lookalike robots of Hamster and Gretel have been sent to Earth to completely destroy them. However, since the robots are made using a sample of Hamster and Gretel's DNA, they're able to predict and evade all of their moves.
Plot[]
Kevin, Fred, Hamster, and Gretel respond to a call about two robots resembling Hamster and Gretel attacking the harbor. The heroes engage in a battle against their doppelgangers, only to find that they can anticipate their every move due to containing their DNA. Unable to defeat the robots, the heroes resolve to flee. However, a third robot that resembles Kevin traces their address and travels to the Grant-Gomez residence, where Dave and Carolina mistake the robots for their children, as their vision is blurry due to an eye exam.
Upon discovering the robots inside their home, Hamster and Gretel engage in another battle, which once again proves difficult. After a failed attempt to simply turn the robots off, Gretel says one of the catchphrases she has been trying out, which causes the robots to short out. Fred then realizes that the robots cannot handle randomness, inspiring Hamster and Gretel to perform numerous random and bizarre acts as a means of confusing the robots into submission. It is then revealed that the robots were created by Mordros the Annihilator, who vows to give Hamster and Gretel their toughest battle yet since his robots were not able to defeat them.
