“ | Although his heart has stopped 60 times, with the support of his hardcore fans―and the invention of the defibrillator―Jeff Strawberry's high octane heroics live on here at the Strawberry Festival! | ” |
— Documentary narrator |
"Strawberry Fest Forever" is the second segment of the sixteenth episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the thirty-first episode overall. It is paired with "The Litigator vs. The Luchador" and premiered on Disney Channel on February 18, 2023.[1][2]
Gretel and Carolina visit the Strawberry Festival that is in town. Unbeknownst to Carolina, the Strawberry Festival is actually about the stuntman Jeff Strawberry, and hosts many daredevil activities. Meanwhile, Kevin and Dave visit Mrs. Maybank to fix some things at her apartment.
Plot
Gretel and Carolina go to the Strawberry Fest amusement park, which is full of incredibly dangerous rides. Gretel enjoys her experience there, but Carolina, who was expecting to spend the day picking strawberries, finds the activities tiring and excessively dangerous. Meanwhile, Dave and Kevin go to a repair job at Mrs. Maybank's apartment, only to find themselves moved by her story about her love life in Paris.
During a monster truck demolition derby, Carolina's concern for Gretel's safety manifests in the form of not participating in destroying anything. Despite this, they are declared the winners, much to Gretel's disappointment. They then notice a man choking on a strawberry and Carolina races to his aid. The strawberry chokes several other people before making it to Jeff Strawberry, a daredevil who serves as the park's namesake. Carolina saves him and he autographs a plush toy of himself the two won during the monster truck derby as a sign of gratitude, with Gretel gaining a new appreciation of Carolina's occupation as a nurse.

Background information
Trivia
- This is one of the few episodes to not feature an antagonist or disaster.
- Irony: Carolina was originally planning on having a nice relaxing day picking strawberries with Gretel at the festival while Kevin and Dave planned to spend the day doing a "manly" repair job for their neighbor; but instead, Carolina ends up going on extreme and dangerous rides with Gretel much to her displeasure, while Kevin and Dave spend their visit at their neighbor's apartment drinking tea and listening to her story about her former love life, which made the two very emotional.
- This is the second time Gretel has shown a newfound appreciation for her parents' job. The first time being Gretel showing the new appreciation for Dave's job at the end of the episode "Dr. Eelgood".
Allusions
- "Strawberry Fields Forever" - The title of this episode is a possible reference to this Beatles song.
- Phineas and Ferb - The farmer from Phineas and Ferb makes a cameo during the Jeff Strawberry documentary, retaining his appearance from "Grounded" and "A Mammoth Problem". In addition, Balloony appears at the balloon stand, and when Balloony pops, Doofenshmirtz makes a cameo, screaming Balloony's name in horror.
- "Crazy Train" - As Carolina plays Balloon Carnage of Death, the background music sounds similar to Ozzy Osbourne's 1980s song.
- Magnum, P.I. - The music that plays in the background of the scene where Carolina is saving people's lives is a reference to the 1980-88 CBS action series Magnum, P.I.
- I Dream of Jeannie - Jeff Strawberry dressing up as a Genie and making things appear during "Also He's a Genie" is a reference to Jeannie in this 60s/70s show.
