Fe13 ghost of a blade warrior's tomb location

The location of the Warrior's Tomb.

Chon'sin (ソンシン Sonshin in the Japanese version) is a country in Fire Emblem Awakening. It is located on the continent of Valm and featured in Paralogue 21.

Profile[]

Chon'sin is one of many small countries on the continent of Valm. Like every nation on the continent, its exact borders are unknown, but it is somewhere in the south. Chon'sin houses an ancient crypt where the bodies of many famous swordsmen were laid to rest; this Warriors' Tomb also serves to place Chon'sin in the far southwest of the Valmese continent. This complies with Say'ri's statement that there are many rivers and trees throughout the land.

According to Say'ri, every Chon'sin citizen can trace their lineage through the legendary names of the ancestors honored with a place in the Warrior's Tomb. She says their founders built the nation with steel, only finding rest in death, and honoring this history is of utmost importance to true citizens of Chon'sin. The people there highly value strength and tradition.

The nation appears to have a hereditary monarchy. During the second half of Awakening, Yen'fay becomes king of Chon'sin. Most of its thousands of citizens, royalty included, are myrmidons and swordmasters, but the nation is generally peaceful. Unfortunately, it also has problems with poverty and crime, as exemplified in Lon'qu's story.

Besides honoring their ancestors and greatest warriors, many in Chon'sin also worship Naga. More specifically, they venerate Naga's Voice. While it is uncertain when, the gemstone Vert of the Binding Shield eventually came into Chon'sin's possession.

In Say'ri's support with Robin, she mentions that rice and fish, often raw fish, are the mainstays of Chon'sin cuisine, and that they do not eat bread or cheese. She also says that the cherry tree is an important part of Chon'sin's national identity; the tree does not grow anywhere else. Weddings are held during spring in Chon'sin, under blossoming cherry trees.

Story[]

Walhart, the ruler of the Kingdom of Valm, sought to unite the whole continent under his rule. When he invaded Chon'sin, he slaughtered thousands and even killed the king and queen of Chon'sin. Their son, Yen'fay, assumed command of Chon'sin and decided to ally with Walhart to protect his country from further bloodshed. Disgusted by her brother's alliance with the man who killed their parents, Say'ri fled from Chon'sin. With other refugees and allies, she formed a resistance to stop the Valmese army. Walhart took Vert, the green gemstone belonging to the Fire Emblem, as a trophy of his conquest of Chon'sin. Under his control, the nation fell into strife, and Risen prowl in places once revered.

During Paralogue 21 of Awakening, Frederick informs Say'ri that villagers in the area claim to have seen Yen'fay at the Warrior's Tomb. She and the Shepherds go to investigate and find a Yen'fay from an alternate future come to pay respects to what he believes to be his sister's grave. In this universe, he had stood up to Walhart and as punishment, the Conqueror had taken Say'ri's life.
