- The name of this encounter invokes The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, a 2005 ballad by Neil Cicierega where many pop culture figures (such as comic book characters) partake in a lethal battle royale. The song's animated music video found immense popularity on Newgrounds and later YouTube in the mid-2000's.
- One scenario has the comic fans arguing over whether the AntAgonizer or the Mechanist would win in a fight. This alludes to the Fallout 3 side quest The Superhuman Gambit, where two individuals pretending to be the comic characters fight each other.
