Oh, well I've loved cooking for as long as I can remember! My Papa was an amazing chef in France, and together we would cook meals for Maman. Dinner time was our favorite time together. I had dreams of owning my own restaurant one day, but alas that was not in the cards for me. However, I do so enjoy making food for everyone here at the Refuge. I like to think that my meals bring a touch of humanity back into the world.

Esme Rousseau, also known as Chef Esme, is a chef of the Whitespring Refuge in Appalachia.

Background[]

Esme has always loved cooking. Before the Great War, her father was a talented chef in France and dinner time was an important event for her family. When the War hit, Esme's dreams of owning her own restaurant were put to a standstill. During the apocalyptic aftermath, she spent a long time simply trying to survive in the wasteland all by herself.

In 2104, Esme joined the new group at the Whitespring Refuge. When she heard about the Whitespring opening its doors to refugees, she thought it would have mouths to feed and thought being a chef for them would give her life meaning.

Appearances[]

Esme Rousseau appears only in Fallout 76, introduced in the Expeditions: The Pitt update.

Behind the scenes[]

  • According to voice director Phillip Reich, although he could not remember the name of Esme's voice actress, the actress was French-Canadian, which had a part in her delivery as Esme. Esme's voice actress has not been credited or announced anywhere.[Non-game 1]
  • Esme's facial appearance was changed from the Public Test Server. On the test server, she had very thin eyebrows. In the live game, she has noticeably thicker eyebrows and the shape and shadowing around her eyes appears to have been modified as well.
