Description[]
The Crypt Blade is a Legendary Greatsword; a dark gray blade adorned with symbols and wreathed in shadow, made from the bodies of the deceased. It can be obtained from the First Layer of The Depths. It scales off Shadowcast alongside Heavy.
The Crypt Blade comes with 2 passive abilities:
- Last Dead's Boon - M1 attacks now steal ether.
- Shadow Affinity - Non-mantra specific shadow Talents also proc on M1 attacks landed by a Crypt Blade. (e.g If the user has Sightless Still, M1 attacks apply Obscured).
- Wrathful Blade - If used with Wraith Path: Twisted Puppets, your blade also procs black flames similarly to the Blazing Enchantment.
Critical[]
The user plunges the blade into the ground and releases an AoE circle surrounding them, inflicting Shadow and chaining everyone within it.
- If hit when chained, the chain will break and the opponent will receive three consecutive ticks of damage and Ether steal. This effect is applied when the target's chest is engulfed in shadow.
- Blocking and parrying will not cancel out this effect.
- If the opponent goes beyond the length of the chain, they will be dragged back to the chains original position.
The critical has a cooldown of ten seconds.
Trivia[]
- The original model for the Crypt Blade was a Darksteel Greatsword but slightly recolored and with black particles coming out of the blade.
- The old description of the Crypt Blade was "Wrought from durable darksteel, these blades where popularised by the Ignition Union as a tools against the Deep." which happens to be the exact description of the Darksteel Greatsword.
- It used to be unobtainable, however, the update that introduced Chime of Conflict also brought back the Crypt Blade.
- The original updated Crypt Blade contained 30k vertices. Following the 3/27/2023 update, this was reduced to a mere 2.5k vertices.
- The original Crypt Blade was able to proc Singularity and Fear on hit, essentially stunning the enemy in place on each hit, thankfully, this has since been removed.
- The YouTuber Nanoprodigy was the first to showcase the Crypt Blade in his video, where the title referenced it as the "Shadow Greatsword"
- During the original addition of this weapon before it's temporary removal, the scaling used to be unreasonably high at 20 SHW scaling and also had 0.7 swing speed without endlag.
- Meeting the requirement of SDW and HVY, the weapon deals 35.8 damage.
- At max SDW and HVY, the weapon deals 43.5 damage.
- Despite being named Crypt Blade, it cannot be found at the Crypt of the Unbroken. The "Crypt" is likely metaphorical, representing how it's made from corpses.
