When the ninja find themselves stuck on a comet, he begins to sabotage their efforts to return home and torments the ninja to escape his own boredom.
Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about the One Who Is Many, what he is, or where he came from, but it is known that at some point he found himself in an alien world. Using his shape-shifting abilities, he would take the form of other inhabitants and trick the others into turning against each other. At some point, however, because of his trickery, conflict would emerge on the planet and the inhabitants would end up destroying each other, leading to the planet's destruction.
Comet Crisis[]
For years, the One Who Is Many would find himself stuck on an asteroid made from the rubble of the planet, bored. However, one day, it found the ninja who had crashed into the comet after failing to defeat General Cryptor. Soon, the One Who Is Many would begin to sabotage the ninja's supply they needed to get off the comet, wanting to keep them there. The One Who Is Many would knock Kai into a hole on the planet and take is form, join the ninja, and make it look like Cole was responsible for removing the framastat, which the ninja needed as it was very necessary to their escape off the asteroid, or their ship would blow up without it. A fight would break out between the ninja, accusing each other of sabotaging the ship, and would eventually lead to Cole flying off to clear his name.
After the ninja returned to the base, there would soon be a bit of confusion, as Kai seemed confused by the whole situation about the ship being sabotaged and Jay would appear outside of the ship, despite Zane believing he was inside with the other ninja. Soon, the One Who Is Many in the form of Jay leave the ship and then soon return to its original form, a crimson cloud, escaping.
The ninja would soon agree to track down the mysterious shape-shifter, now realizing there was an imposter the entire time and that they were not alone on the asteroid. The One Who Is Many would later return to the ship in the form of Nya, coming to taunt Jay about his insecurities and how he was no fun, and that Nya would probably like Cole better. Jay would tell it to get away, but the shape-shifting now would end up entering the ship to try to trick the ninja once more. Immediately seeing through his disguise, the ninja would attack the One Who Is Many, who would transform into other people they cared about to taunt them about their fears and insecurities, as he in the form of Nya asks Kai if he would treat his sister like this, then take the form of Wu in front of Zane by saying that perhaps he'd trust a figure they feared, immediately turning into Techno Wu afterward.
Soon, the ninja would find out Jay went missing and the One Who Is Many would reveal that he abducted him, and he would only allow the ninja to find him if they agreed to stay on the comet with him forever. The ninja would reluctantly agree, and the shape-shifting creature would give them a limited amount of time. While the ninja would travel across the asteroid to find Jay, the One Who Is Many would follow them and try to trap the ninja by transforming into a rock and try trapping them into it.
Later on, the One Who Is Many would approach the ninja in the form of Lloyd, trying to trick the ninja yet again. He would reveal that the asteroid they were on was once part of a planet and that it was destroyed, giving the ninja a hint about what it did before vanishing. The ninja eventually find Jay hidden in an underground tunnel, but soon find the One Who Is Many in the form of Kai standing in front of them. However, they would very quickly manage to take down the One Who Is Many after a short battle.
The ninja figure out the One Who Is Many is indirectly responsible for the destruction of the planet which he admits to while transforming into Wu. The One Who Is Many would then reveal he had no actual intentions of letting Jay go, as he wanted to keep the ninja on the comet forever for his own sadistic torment and "company". Zane would offer the One Who Is Many a wager, wanting the shape-shifter to battle him with his own power and that if Zane wins, they go free, but if the One Who Is Many wins, they stay with him. The One Who Is Many, thinking he'd probably win, accepts, but as soon as he transforms into Zane, the One Who Is Many began to malfunction, due to Zane being a robot. This would result in the One Who Is Many exploding as the ninja fled, and with the entity defeated, they bought themselves enough time to return to Ninjago to stop another threat.
Personality[]
The One Who Is Many is by all means a sadistic entity that genuinely enjoys causing havoc for the sole sake of his own amusement. It enjoys causing tension between others by taking the forms of others, and turning others against them, just for the sole sake of conflict, not really caring about what harm it may bring. The only thing he really seems to care about is having some "entertainment", and he will do anything to keep himself amused, as shown by him trying to actively keep the ninja from leaving the comet. He also appears to enjoy taunting people over what they fear and their own insecurities, taking the form of people who mean a lot to them to make them feel distraught.
