~ Cinder to Lord Ras |
Cinder is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Jordana) of Season 2 of Ninjago: Dragons Rising.
He is the current Elemental Master of Smoke and a general in the Wolf Clan who was taught to use Shatterspin and recruited by Lord Ras to help him in his plans to conquer the merged realms and free the Forbidden Five in a Blood Moon ritual. He is also Jordana’s rival.
He is voiced by Ian Hanlin, who also voiced Acronix in Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
Biography[]
Background[]
Through unknown means, Cinder inherited the Elemental Power of Smoke from Ash. At some point, Lord Ras recruited him into the Wolf Clan and let him study the teachings of the Forbidden Five.
Eventually, Cinder became a general in the Wolf Clan and was entrusted with a critical mission by Lord Ras, finding the Mallet of Shattering. In order to fulfill his mission, Cinder went on an antique store break in spree, using his Elemental Powers to avoid security systems. This behavior lead to a conspiracy theorist named Intelligent George giving Cinder the alias of "Night Ghost" and coming up with crazy conspiracies about him. Cinder's search eventually lead him to Kreel's junkyard.
Season 2, part 1[]
Cinder traveled to All-Realm Antiques Emporium to steal Mallet of Shattering. However, his plans were thwarted when the trio of Arin, Sora, and Riyu intervened, urging him to surrender. Despite their plea, Cinder remained defiant and summoned two Wolf Mask Warriors. The clash between Cinder and the two Wolf Mask Warriors against Arin, Sora, and Riyu was intense, especially when Lloyd joined the fray, adding a new dynamic to the battle. During the skirmish, Lloyd reconized the Wolf Mask Warriors from his vision, allowing Cinder and the Wolf Mask Warriors the perfect opportunity to snatch the Mallet of Shattering and make their escape to Ras.
The subsequent journey led Cinder to the Shadow Dojo where an army of Wolf Mask Warriors watched in anticipation as he handed Ras the Mallet of Shattering. With the Mallet and Gong finally reunited, Cinder aligned with Ras' plan to infiltrate the Cloud Kingdom, seeking vital knowledge for the Ritual of the Blood Moon and deciphering the Theroxian texts. But their arrival was met with resistance from Euphrasia. The confrontation between Cinder and Euphrasia resulted in a harrowing outcome as she fell from the Cloud Kingdom, fracturing her leg. As the ninja arrived, Ras summoned Cinder to confront them, leading to a fierce encounter where Cinder faced the formidable might of Kai. Despite his initial ferocity, Cinder was ultimately bested by Kai's recounting of his triumph over Ash, the former Master of Smoke. Defiant in defeat, Cinder donned a Wolf Mask, unleashing Shatterspin to overpower the ninja. The ninja resisted, yet Cinder's relentless assault resulted in Wyldfyre breaking her leg. A strategic retreat was proposed by Zane, prompting a decision from the ninja to regroup against Ras's tyranny.
Subsequently, under Ras's tutelage, Cinder trained to master Shatterspin, leading to a powerboost as the energy of the Gong of Shattering surged through him. Embracing his prowess, Cinder showcased uncanny accuracy in his strikes.. Amidst the trials, Cinder goaded Jordana, taunting her about his standing as Ras' favored disciple. However, Jordana revealed a vital breakthrough in their mission to Ras regarding Bonzle, a spell that can free the Forbidden Five. Continuing his training regimen under Ras's eye, Cinder's dedication was put to the test once again as he struggled to replicate the strength and precision of his previous trials. Displeased by the perceived lack of progress, Ras urged Cinder to tap into a deeper well of power, demanding nothing but excellence from his protege.
After all of Theroxian texts from the Writers of Destiny, Cinder is ordered by Ras to destroy the Cloud Kingdom, including the Writers of Destiny themselves. Returning to the Shadow Dojo, Cinder coldly positions Euphrasia, Suetonius, and three other Writers of Destiny as sacrifices for the Forbidden Five, preparing to commence the Ritual of the Blood Moon. When Jordana arrived, she faces Ras' wrath for her shortcomings. As Ras abruptly left from Shadow Dojo to confront Arin, Cinder took the opportunity to mock Jordana for her failures, relishing in her frustration. Upon finally capturing Bonzle, Cinder seizes the moment to further provoke Jordana, gleefully pointing out how Ras rectified her misstep.
Eager to unleash chaos, Cinder, accompanied by the Wolf Mask Claw Warriors, engages in a fierce battle against Kai, Sora, and Wyldfyre. Yearning to unleash Shatterspin, Cinder's plans are thwarted by Sora, who intervenes just in time. Despite Sora's effort to contain him with a tech power cage, Cinder, fueled by determination, struggles relentlessly until Ras urges him to finish the ninja. In a sudden surge of seriousness, Cinder shattered Sora's cage, triggering a chain reaction that renders Sora unconscious as the Elemental Tech Mech explodes.
Cinder confidently readies himself to perform Shatterspin once more, donning the coveted Wolf Mask. Despite interference from the ninja, Cinder stole a mask from one of the Wolf Mask Claw Warriors, initiating another assault with Shatterspin. Though he manages to overpower some of the ninja momentarily, Cinder's momentum is halted when Kai intervenes wit Rising Dragon technique, aiming to put an end to Cinder's attacks. Overwhelmed by Kai's relentless onslaught, Cinder was outmatched until a diversion created by Ras sends Kai spiraling into a portal, paving the way for Nokt to be free.
As the battle continues, Cinder faced Lloyd, who unleashed a Rising Dragon as well, catching Cinder off guard. Desperate to retaliate, Cinder deploys Shatterspin in a bid to thwart Lloyd's advances. Despite his best efforts, Cinder falls short as Lloyd triumphantly performs the Rising Dragon technique, dealing a decisive blow to Cinder's ambitions. Following their defeat, Cinder, alongside Nokt and the other members of the Wolf Clan, were inexplicably transported to an unfamiliar open field by Ras's Master.
