Tarantox is a mini-boss in the 2007 video game Super Mario galaxy.
It is an arachnid which is possibly related to Spanglers or Spoings.
Physical appearance[]
On its back, Tarantox has a brown body with tone differences in horizontal lines. It has three oval eyes and short wings on its back. On its side it has four green puss-sacs, which are its weakness. It has another on its rear. It has eight legs and two antennae. Its feet are circular and black.
Biography[]
Background[]
The Japanese, Chinese, Korean and German language versions of the game refer to Tarantox as a king, suggesting that Tarantox is the monarch and leader of its kind or area. The Spanish version refers to Tarantox as a queen, so its gender remains ambiugous.
Super Mario Galaxy[]
The player counters a planet in Sling Pod Galaxy which is covered in enormous webs. After using a Sling Pod to break the web open, Tarantox is revealed and attacks the player. The player must utilise the nearby Sling Pods to burst enough of Tarantox's visible puss-sacs, causing it to flip. When flipped, it exposes several more growths which must be attacked. Doing so successfully defeats Tarantox.
Trivia[]
- Tarantox's English name is a portmanteau of "tarantula" and "toxic"
