“
I am your emperor! Your father was a weakling Edenian king. I annihilated him while merging his realm with Outworld and took his queen as my wife. If only I had not allowed Sindel to convince me of your worth... But now I have a true daughter!
„
~ Shao Khan disowning Kitana in favor of his "new daughter", Mileena.
“
Shao Kahn: I will have my throne! Kotal Kahn: Outworld rejected your pointless wars. Shao Kahn: Empires must expand or die!

Shao, better known as Shao Kahn, is one of the main antagonists of the Mortal Kombat: Titan Trilogy, both a reboot and spin-off of the Mortal Kombat franchise.
He is an alternate incarnation of the ruthless warlord Shao Kahn from the timeline created after Raiden sent a message to the past that set the events of the franchise on a vastly different past. Similar to his previous counterpart, Shao Kahn is the tyrannical and ruthless Emperor of Outworld, who seeks to conquer all of the realms, which puts him into conflict with Raiden and its protectors.
In Mortal Kombat 9, he was voiced by Bob Carter, who also voiced Baraka in the same game, Balrog in Street Fighter, Bojack in Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound, Syn Shenron in Dragon Ball GT, Drum in Dragon Ball and Black Adam in MultiVersus.
In Mortal Kombat 11, he was voiced by Ike Amadi, who also voiced Cyrax in the same game, General Shao in Mortal Kombat 1, Angor Rot in Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, Man-Ape in Avengers Assemble, Atrocitus in Injustice 2, Prowler in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Atriox in Halo Infinite.
Appearance[]
In Mortal Kombat 9 Shao Kahn resembles what he mostly looks like a big muscular being who wears armor, with glowing red eyes, and a skull-themed helmet.
While still being reminiscent of his classic look Mortal Kombat 11 Shao Kahn looks somewhat different. His body is covered with dragonic scales, and a more elaborate gold version of his helmet.
Personality[]
Much like his original incarnation, he is a power hungry tyrant who wants to conquer the realms, deeply arrogant and sadistic. He was unapologetic at the scale of his conquests. underneath his serious exterior, he had a dark sense of humour, mocking Scorpion for losing at his tournament, and was somewhat petty, killing Kung Lao by snapping his neck when he won the tournament.
While Shao Kahn was fond of Mileena, seeing her as a daughter and becoming enraged when D'Vorah boasted of killing her, this was only because she could prove useful, even admitting to Kitana that if she was more bold, he would not have needed to create her in the first place.
Powers & Abilities[]
Immortal Physiology: Both as a member of the Immortal race and through his many years of conquests, Shao Kahn is endowed with extraordinary power physiologically and mystically, perhaps even superior to other Immortals since he proved to be a match for a god.
Immeasurable Strength: Shao Kahn possesses titanic strength, even superior to the Shokans and Earth Realm gods.
Immense Durability: Shao Kahn can take powerful attacks head-on without being seriously injured at first, making him a tough opponent to defeat. Although he can still be stunned by Raiden's lightning or hurt by Liu Kang's fire powers, it is not enough to kill him.
Immortality: Shao Kahn is several millennia old, easily over 10,000 years old. Through his immortality, he does not physically age.
Healing Factor: Shao Kahn heals better than humans and other races and can survive fatal blows, such as when he was ripped open in the chest by Liu Kang's flaming fist but did not die from it, only falling briefly into the coma until Quan Chi helped speed up his recovery.
Magic: Shao Kahn possesses a powerful mastery of sorcery, as well as the mysterious green energy that rare possesses. His most basic use is summoning his weapons in combat, while his most advanced use is opening dimensional portals. In particular, he knows Soul Magik, allowing him to create the combatant Ermac by merging multiple souls and take Shang Tsung's soul to strengthen Sindel. He is also the one who taught Blood Magik to Skarlet, although he rarely uses it himself.
Master Fighter: Shao Kahn is easily one of the strongest warriors in Outworld, an experienced master of martial arts and a master of melee weapons, especially the war hammer.
Leadership: As Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn displayed relentless leadership that allowed him to conquer many kingdoms. Although focused primarily on offense, Shao Kahn is able to adapt his command style, having regained the loyalty of the Osh-Tekk Warrior and Tarkatans by offering them forgiveness and wealth if they disown Kitana like Kahn.

How easily you are felled, Kronika. Once your power's mine, I will rule eternity!
I conquered history like I conquered realms–merging billions of potential timelines into a Singularity. The universe has been remade in my image and all is as it should be. The weak serve the strong. The strong compete for power, wealth, and my favor in Mortal Kombat. For centuries, the tournament's champion has gone undefeated. That champion...IS ME! Hail the Conqueror! Hail Shao Kahn! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Trivia[]
Shao Kahn's physical appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 differs from his previous appearances or counterparts, appearing less human due to his dragonic attributes.
In the MK9 arcade endings of Nightwolf and Cyber Sub-Zero, Shao Kahn returns as a ghost and takes possession of the bodies of both. In Quan Chi's ending, Shao Kahn is brought back to life as an undead warrior.
In the MK9 downloadable content, Shao Kahn is also the arch-enemy of Freddy Krueger and Kratos, having himself taken them from their native domains and subjecting them to his authority, leading the two to swear revenge on him for humiliating them, although these events remain non-canon.
Dark Shao is still credited as "Shao Kahn", even wielding his traditional Wrath Hammer, rather than his New Era self's axe.
