Biography[]
Past[]
Philippa was born as a girl in Redania around the year 900 and had great magical potential, which is why she was assigned to the Academy of Sorceresses in Aretusa. At the same time, Tissaia de Vries took her under her wing and she became the best student.
As an adult, Philippa returned to Redania and became an advisor to the reigning king of her country, Vizimir II, and a court sorceress. According to Dandelion in the year 1267, despite being 300 years old, she looks like she is over 30 because of her magic. Philippa's special feature is her ability to transform into a snowy owl.
Many years later Philippa became an important member of the council of sorceresses. At one point Philippa was in love for 3 years with Sigimund Dijkstra who was the head of the secret service in Redania. Philippa generally plays the role of an advisor in Redania and is an important person at the Redanian court, she gained both power and influence Redania even signing edicts on behalf of Visimir.
When Philippa learns from Dandelion, Dijkstra and the informant who led him to their hideout in Oxenfurt that a mysterious mage from Nilfgaard, Rience is pursuing Ciri, who is a carrier of the older blood and raised by the witcher Geralt of Rivia. To which Philippa replied to Dandelion that Rience is also looking for Geralt and also asks him about the whereabouts of Cirilla, Triss and Yennefer, where they are hiding, who are acquaintances of Geralt, but Dandelion pretends not to know where they are. Philippa does not believe Dandelion at first until Dijkstra convinces her that perhaps Geralt did not tell him anything special, so Philippa stopped asking Dandelion. After the meeting ended, Philippa nevertheless began to follow Dandelion in the form of an owl in order to reach the place where Geralt is.
Witcher 2: the Assassins of Kings[]
She made a plot against Demavend in order to create an independent country with her puppet ruler, Saskia.
She helped Saskia in a rebellion in order to create her independent country. Depending on player's choice she can succeed or not. She puts a curse on her puppet ruler or would be ruler in order to control her and use her power of changing into a dragon.
She is captured by her king Radovid the Stern for conspiracy, treachery and regicide. The king orders to blind her and put her in dungeon. She asks Geralt of Rivia to free her in order to gain her help in curing Saskia from her curse. Depending on player's choice she can be helped or left to rot in her cell.
If she has helped, she escapes.
Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[]
Philippa reappeared after surviving Loc Muinne, escaping to a hideout in southern Redania. In the quest Return to Crooked Marshes, Geralt found a doll with clear traces of black magic performed by witches used to control the person the doll represents. The feathers on this doll immediately reminded Geralt of Philippa, but there was no definitive proof that the doll actually represented her.
She contacted Margarita Laux-Antille, explaining her plan to regenerate her eyes by growing tissue on precious stones, as Vilgefortz had done, and reviving the Lodge. She then traveled to Novigrad to seek help from her former lover, the sorcerer Arthur de Vleester. Having humiliated him in the past, de Vleester convinced her that she would be safer in her owl form, then placed a dimeritium band around her ankle. After de Vleester's execution during a witch hunt, Philippa fell into the possession of Zoltan Chivay, who affectionately named her Fluffy.
He later lost her to Sigismund Dijkstra, who made the mistake of removing her dimeritium, and she reverted to her human form and attacked. Only Geralt's intervention put an end to her madness. Filippa was then recruited to help stop the Wild Hunt in exchange for an amnesty from Emperor Emhyr var Emreis. After Margarita was rescued from Oxenfurt, she and Filippa met with Ciri to offer her equal partnership in the Lodge, which she refused.
Philippa later assisted Geralt in finding the Sunstone to aid in their plan to lure the Wild Hunt. While searching the caves of Skellige, Philippa criticized Geralt for being overprotective of Ciri, claiming that the Lodge was not a pack of wolves that he could scare off with his sword, to which the witcher insisted that he could, because it is. When they found the Sun Stone, Geralt assumed that he would take the artifact for himself, but Filipa insisted that she take it. She then revealed her intentions: to take Yennefer's place at Emhyr's court and become Ciri's advisor, hoping that Geralt would take Yennefer with him and leave everything to her.
