Maxwell "Max" Dillon, also known as Electro, is a major antagonist in the animated TV series The Spectacular Spider-Man.

He was an electrical lineman who became electrocuted. He was desperate to find a cure to his condition before becoming a criminal and minion of Doctor Octopus

He was voiced by Crispin Freeman who also voiced Firefly from Batman: Arkham series.

Before his incident, Max Dillon was a bit cocky, but overall quite friendly person.

But after he got his powers, he started be more angry and irritable, as his state prevented him from living a normal life. This frustration reached a boiling point when he found out that he couldn't even do something as simple as drink a cup of coffee.

He then became mad after embracing his alias. Since then Electro becomes increasingly enraged when someone calls him by his actual name, with the exception of Doctor Octopus, showing that Electro respects him.

Biography[]

Max Dillion was an electrical lineman who was hired by Dr. Curt Connors. When he was repairing one of the machines, he was electrocuted and fell into a tank of genetically-altered electric eels. Because of this, Max's entire body began to generate massive amounts of bio-electricity and he had to wear a special suit to contain it. He went mad and demanded Connors to make a cure. While he was fighting Spider-Man, Electro electrocuted Connors' Regeneration formula (Which caused Connors to become the Lizard). Electro was defeated by Spider-Man by throwing him into a pool of water.

Electro returned to break out some other supervillains from prison and joined the Sinister Six. He was also a member of the second incarnation of the Six, and worked as Dr. Octopus's henchman during the Master Planner arc.

Powers and abilities[]

As an electrical lineman, Max has knowlege in fixing electrical devices. Although he made a careless mistake in leaving one of hsi tools on the machine he was fixing which resulted in him getting mutated.

As Electro, he can create large amounts of electricity from his body. He can utilize this electrostatic energy as lightning arcs from his fingertips, and his maximum charge is more than enough to kill a normal human. He can make himself more powerful by charging himself up and absorb the energy of electrical equipment such as a power plant to increase his powers even further.

Trivia[]

This version of Electro is an amalgam of his classic and Ultimate, having the head design, color and origins of the former and being a pure energy being like the latter.
In a hard-to-miss scene in his first appearance inside Conner's labs in "Interactions", Electro's electricity is seem zapping the injector that contained the lizard DNA in which Dr. Connors used in the next episode. It possible that Electro's electricity increased the particles that made Dr. Connors turn into the Lizard, so it is possible Dr. Connors' serum was about to be successful and Electro was accidently responsible for the events of the next episode.
His transformation into Electro could serve as the inspiration for The Amazing Spider-Man version of Electro, as both incidents involved genetically-altered electric eels.
Plans were made to have Electro get a cure in Season 3.
