Diego Salgado is a minor antagonist in the 2022 video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. He is a lieutenant of the Las Almas Cartel, and the right-hand of its leader, Valeria Garza.

He was voiced by Ramon Fernandez.

Biography[]

Background[]

Not much is known about Diego Salgado's past, but he was born in Mexico, and later joined the Las Almas Cartel, which succeeded the criminal organization, the La Araña Cartel. He later rose to the position as the right hand of "El Sin Nombre", and helped the organization fight against Los Vaqueros. He was also aware of Garza presenting herself as "El Sin Nombre" to hide her identity, with the latter going under the guise as the cartel leader's personal sicaria.

Modern Warfare II[]

When Quds Force Major Hassan Zyani is given American ballistic missiles from the Russians, he started an alliance with the cartel to smuggle himself and two missiles to Chicago and the Gulf of Mexico. The United States would learn of the situation from Task Force 141's operations in Al Mazrah and Amsterdam, and had the team perform a joint operation with Shadow Company and Los Vaqueros to capture Zyani. Valeria became angered after learning of her compounds being raided, and had her lieutenants meet at their mansion to gather information about the situation. Salgado would oversee Garza interrogate some of her men, and the Mexican Army soldiers that were on their payroll. 141 and Shadow Company then decided to infiltrate the mansion to capture El Sin Nombre, and Johnny "Soap" MacTavish decided to falsely surrender to identity the cartel leader.

Diego would meet with Soap after his "surrender", and brought him to Valeria, whom proceeded to threaten Salgado for bringing an outsider to the mansion. Salgado then oversaw the interrogation, and after MacTavish gave them information about Shadow Company, executed Mexican Army officer Nunez and escorted Valeria and Soap to the elevator. Soap was then sent to await in the penthouse, as the cartel members prepared for their meeting. Unbeknownst to them, Los Vaqueros Colonel Alejandro Vargas successfully infiltrated the mansion to assist Soap in their mission to locate El Sin Nombre.

Depending on the player's choice, they can either kill Diego in his office to obtain the keycard, or sneak onto the roof with Vargas. If the player doesn't kill Diego in his office, he will be seen speaking with Valeria, revealing that she is Sin Nombre during their conversation. Salgado is then killed by either Soap or Vargas during the shootout, and Valeria is captured for questioning.
