~ Beauty Smith abusing White Fang.
Beauty Smith is the main antagonist of Disney's 1991 live action film White Fang, based on the 1906 novel of the same name by the late Jack London.
He is a sadistic and cruel dogfighter who buys White Fang from Grey Beaver, so he can force him to fight other dogs. He is the boss of Luke and Tinker as well as White Fang and Jack Conroy's archenemy.
Smith: I shipped him all the way from San Francisco. He was a family dog. I'm gonna teach him to fight. A good fighting dog could make a lot of money up here. Hey, you up here for the gold? Jack: You got that right. Smith: It's out there, just waiting for somebody to pick it up! Here are friends of mine. Here's Luke, Tinker. Didn't get your name. Jack: Jack. Smith: Jack. What's your hurry? Jack: Have you guys ever heard of a guy named Alex Larson? Smith: Alex Larson? He's my old pal. Luke: Practically brothers. Why, Beauty here saved Alex's life. Smith: He'd do the same for me. Jack: Back off! You fellas really don't know Alex Larson, do you? Smith: What would I tell ya? You can't fool these city boys. Nah, we don't know him, but we could find him. He's a gold man, and who ain't up here? He'd be his way up the golden staircase. Jack: Golden staircase? Luke: Chilkoot Pass. About 2-3 miles outside of town. You'll need help hauling the gear to the top. [Luke pushes Jack while Smith pickpockets him.] Jack: I said back off! Smith: Hey, easy. Sorry. We didn't mean to crowd you, boy. Good luck to you, Jack! [laughs.] Luke: See you later!

~ Beauty Smith robbing Jack.
When Beauty Smith arrives at Skagway, Alaska, he has purchased a St. Bernard named Buck to train him to become a fighting dog. Smith comes across a young man named Jack Conroy and proceeds to torment Buck by kicking his cage, to which Jack tells him to stop, but Smith replies that he can do whatever he wants to his dog. While Smith chats with Jack about gold, the latter asks Smith where he can find a prospector named Alex Larson. As they continue talking, Smith and his henchmen, Luke and Tinker pickpocket Jack and they leave, but not before telling him to go to the Golden Staircase at Chilkoot Pass. When Jack realizes that he has been robbed, he desperately tries to follow the dogfighters, but cannot find them and proceeds to the Chilkhoot Pass.
Buying White Fang[]
“
Smith: Look what your wolf has done to my dog here. Who's gonna pay for the damages? You know it's illegal to bring wolves in town, don't ya? Luke, go find us a Mountie. He'll straighten us up. Grey Beaver: Wait! Here. [Grey Beaver hands Beauty a wolf pelt, but he tosses it aside.] Smith: Not interested in furs, Chief. I'll take that wolf out of your hands. Grey Beaver: No, he's not for sale. Smith: That's too damn bad, 'cause now you're gonna spend some time in jail. Go find him, Luke. Grey Beaver: No! How much. Smith: You know something, Chief? You're shrewd.

~ Beauty Smith blackmailing Grey Beaver to sell White Fang to him.
As Grey Beaver and White Fang travel through Klondike City, they encounter Smith with his fighting dog. While Grey Beaver heads into a nearby store to sell wolf pelts, Smith instigates a fight between Buck and White Fang, to which the wolfdog wins. Grey Beaver comes out of the store and manages to calm down White Fang before things escalate. Smith blackmails the chief for the wolfdog, stating that it's illegal to bring wolves into town. Grey Beaver offers Smith a wolf pelt, but the dogfighter tosses it aside and tells him that he wants White Fang. Grey Beaver refuses to sell White Fang, stating that he's not for sale, but Smith threatens to turn him over to the Mounties if he doesn't comply. After Grey Beaver reluctantly sells White Fang to the dogfighters, they lock White Fang in a pen and they head out to drink at a bar. However, the courageous wolfdog leaps out of his confinement and confronts the three dogfighters, but is recaptured.
Training White Fang[]
“
Wolf, don't you let me down. Get mad! Get mad! Get in there and kill him. You understand? Come on!

~ Beauty Smith pressuring White Fang to defeat Sykes' dog.
As Smith and his henchmen train White Fang to be a fighting dog, they place White Fang into a dogfighting ring to fight against a German Shepard owned by Smith's rival, Sykes. The dogfighters place bets between each other and the fight begins, to which White Fang wins. Sykes swears revenge on Smith, to which Smith replies that he should "bring a live dog" for the next round. Smith continues to make White Fang fight other dogs and he becomes successful in earning money as he does so. The following night, as Smith comes to feed a caged White Fang, the wolfdog growls at him and Smith decides to starve White Fang as he tells him to "keep on hating him" before leaving.
Final Dogfight[]
“
Smith: Hey, kid! Hey! Kid, that's my wolf! Jack: He was. I paid for him when you robbed me in Skagway, remember? Smith: Oh yeah! [Jack picks up White Fang and Smith approaches Jack, but Luke holds him back.] Alex: You stay. [Jack and Alex leave the scene.] Smith: Hey you two. Keep an eye out for me. This ain't finished yet!

~ Beauty Smith swearing revenge on Jack after he buys White Fang from him.
The next day, as Smith prepares another fighting round for White Fang, Sykes brings in a bulldog named Cherokee. Sykes offers $5,000 if White Fang can beat his bulldog, since he's "unbeatable" and Smith reluctantly decides to give in. As the fight starts, White Fang seems to gain the upper hand, but the vicious bulldog clamps his jaws around the wolfdog's neck, suffocating him. Smith orders White Fang to keep fighting, but Sykes declares his victory. However, Smith refuses to accept defeat and proceeds to beat up White Fang in an attempt to get him to continue fighting. Meanwhile, Jack and Alex arrive in the nick of time and Jack manages to stop Smith from killing White Fang. Alex holds Smith at gunpoint, while Jack manages to pry Cherokee's jaws off White Fang. Jack claims White Fang as a restitution for the money Smith stole from him and Smith tries to stop Jack, but is held back. As they leave with White Fang, the evil dogfighter swears that he will get revenge on Jack.
Final Battle and Defeat[]

Jack: Hey, go get us the Mounties, would ya? Miner: Yes, sir!
„
~ Beauty Smith and his henchmen being turned over to the Mounties.
As Jack and White Fang take a sample of gold to the assayer in Klondike City, White Fang notices Luke sweeping in the assayer and growls at him, prompting Luke to flee and inform Smith. Jack and White Fang then head back to the mine, unaware that Smith and his henchmen have followed them and are preparing an ambush. As Luke stuffs the chimney, Alex hears the commotion and heads out to investigate, but is greeted with a hail of gunfire. The three dogfighters continue to shoot at the cabin in an attempt to force Jack and Alex to come out. However, they hear Alex playing his mouth harp, prompting an irritated Smith to shoot at the cabin to stop the music. As Alex continues playing in an attempt to confuse the dogfighters, Smith decides he has had enough and orders his henchmen to set the cabin on fire. Smith orders Tinker to check the cabin, but he is ambushed by White Fang, causing his gun to discharge and wound Luke's foot. Smith tries to shoot at White Fang, but the wolfdog chases him and attacks him. As Smith reaches for his rifle, White Fang bites him and continues to attack him. Jack comes over and gets White Fang off Smith and the two hold them hostage. The three dogfighters are then taken prisoner by Jack and Alex, who take them back to Klondike City and turn them over to the Mounties.
Personality[]
Beauty Smith is shown to be extremely sadistic, heartless, greedy, ruthless, brutal, violent, vile and aggressive. He is a selfish, shameless, cold-hearted, psychopathic and abusive dogfight enthusiast who horribly abuses White Fang to fight dogs. He blackmails Grey Beaver for White Fang so that he can buy White Fang and trains him to become a ferocious fighting dog and is also shown to be sadistic and cruel, as he inflicts torment and pain on White Fang as a way of padding his own pocket, which drives the wolfdog mad with rage and sets him loose on other twisted beasts for the amusement of callous onlookers. He has already established that he has no qualms about robbery, theft and dogfighting. He proceeds to establish that he is not beyond killing and claim-jumping either when he and his two henchmen attack Jack and Alex and set their cabin on fire.
