The E-1000[1][2] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced version of the E-100 Series created by Dr. Eggman.[3]

Appearance[]

Though based on most of the E-100 Series robots' core design,[3] the E-1000s are noticeably more streamlined and simplified for mass-production. Their limbs only feature half the joints used by the original model, and their design lacks a targeting scope, waist-mounted flashlight, cannon-grip and ankle-mounted wheels, implying they lack the original version's ability to change modes. The machine is otherwise similar to Gamma. However, its weaponry differs; where E-102 had a single cannon and a hand, the E-1000 sports dual cannons.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Adventure 2[]

In Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, the E-1000s appear in the following stages for each character:

Character Stage
Sonic Pyramid Cave
Knuckles Death Chamber
Rouge Egg Quarters
PCDC16

Two E-1000 units open fire, from Sonic Adventure 2.

In gameplay, E-1000s act as relatively stationary sentries that will track the player's movements with their cannons. However, the E-1000s' weaponry, with low-velocity projectiles and no homing feature, is generally far less effective than E-102 Gamma's. They lack the intelligence, agility, durability and skill of the original E-102, with their battle strategy limited to simply standing still and continuously firing at the player in an attempt to kill them. Their armor is the greatest subtraction from the E-100 series; just one hit is needed to destroy them.

There is another version of the E-1000s which is capable of hovering around instead of just staying on the ground. When destroying any version of the E-1000s, the player is awarded two hundred points and an Animal will be released from the Badnik.

Sonic Rivals 2[]

In Sonic Rivals 2, the E-1000 appears on a collectible card:

Powers and abilities[]

Certain E-1000s have the ability to hover for a short distance using small engines attached on their backs. All units also come equipped with a laser cannon without homing features on each arm. These cannons are capable of firing large yellow lasers at relatively low velocities, travelling in tandem as they approach a target, and lacking any sort of guidance system.

Books and comics[]

Archie Comics[]

E-1000 Archie Profile

An E-1000, from Sonic the Hedgehog #262.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the E-1000s are mass-produced Badniks and a part of Dr. Eggman's Badnik Horde. The robots, in more recent comics, appear to be more like the E-100 series than their Sonic Adventure 2 counterparts, possessing the same amount of limb joints as standard E-100 units.

IDW Publishing[]

E1000IDW

An E-1000, from Sonic the Hedgehog #36.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, a few E-1000 units under the employ of Clutch the Opossum were activated by him to attack Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit, Gemerl, Cheese and Belle after they had crossed him. The E-1000s primarily fought Gemerl, while trying to eliminate the other intruders as well. However, they were eventually destroyed by the heroes with the support of the Chao that Clutch kept in his suite.[4]
