All humans are the same. All they do is harm this planet, and cause destruction for their own selfish gain! So I am going to make sure that I destroy as many humans as I can, even if it kills me! They'll witness what it feels like to be murdered recklessly and suddenly!
~ Wolfalco expressing his hatred for humanity, and his desire to kill humans.
We are all sick parasites controlling this world bit by bit. Further pushing away the idea and responsibility of what we were supposed to do. That is humanities doing. That is humanities symptoms.
~ Eteled

Misanthropes are villains who harbor a serious hatred for humanity or the equivalents of their respective settings and may even be Genocidal in those regards. Misanthropy can lead to villains committing terrible crimes as they no longer have compassion towards their fellow people and in fact despise them.

Many human villains themselves (such as primate humans, cavemen, or modern-day humans) may also be misanthropic or self-hating humans, as they view their species as mentally stupid, inferior, irredeemably flawed, or worthless. This could also include the Undead (NoncorporealsZombiesVampires, etc.) that are disdainful for the living.

Human misanthropes that also want to destroy humanity due to whatever misanthropic reason tend to be hypocrites because they are themselves human and logically cannot survive their own goals.

Non-Humans (AliensRobotsAnimalsPlantsHumanoidsMonsters, etc.) may also be misanthropic as they view humans as stupid, inferior, irredeemably flawed, worthless or oppressive. However, it should be noted that not all are necessarily misanthropic.

While misanthropes despise humanity, they often make exceptions for themselves or their loved ones and can still love and care for certain people.

Good examples are Gorefield, Lavos, Spyro Doomfire, Sark, Rashay, Leader and Ringmaster.

Note: If a villain shows hatred for a few people, but don't harbour any hatred against humanity, they do not count. They should instead go under Archenemies, Xenophobes, Abusers, Delusional and/or Rivals. To qualify as a misanthrope, they had to show hatred for everyone, not just a few innocent people.

They are the exact opposite of Philanthropists.
