Debased villains are those who start out with redeeming qualities but later subvert them. These villains may either subvert some of their redeeming qualities but retain others, or they may ultimately shed all of their redeeming qualities. The latter subcategory of villains can be described as Wholly Debased (all Complete Monsters in this category are this, but not all Wholly Debased villains are CMs), as they have chosen a path bereft of any goodness or altruism.

Examples (excluding Former Heroes) include:

• Andrea Von Strucker, who was once just an average joe until she betrayed humanity for power.
• THOUGHT, who initially showed care towards Slenderman until he planned for Smith to kill him.
• CAT, who wanted the Puppeteer to be brought to justice, only to abandon this to become a homicidal animatronic.
• Francis, who seemed to be genuinely protective of Saiko until the latter betrayed him for his crimes.
• Oscar, who used to be insecure about being a "somebody", until his newfound fame corrupted him into a genocidal narcissist.
• Bowser, who was relatively the same as his official counterpart until he gained demonic powers.
• Void Steve, who genuinely wanted to use the the Darkness to protect his species from the Demon Steves until his path of destruction lead to him embracing chaos, all whilst believing himself to be good.
• Awesamdude, who just wanted to protect the server for Dream, but slowly became more cruel and malicious from his straining task of keeping him locked up.
• Cyalux Clover, who was genuinely best friends with Samuel and Luke, until he betrayed them and left them to die because they sided with octolings.
• Zelus, who is originally a sad and lonely Inkling after being abandoned by OnyxKing until her sadness turned from anger to hatred, become a hateful and vengeful individual as result, thus subverting any sympathy she ever had.
• Luigi, Who used to be an insecure guy until Bowser enslaved him, And then became a vengeful tyrant.

Please do not add villains here who have only faked redeeming qualities (e.g. Jschlatt and Mr. Krabs). Those villains should go under Charismatic, Faux Affably Evil, and/or Liars. This category is only for villains who once had genuine redeeming qualities but ended up subverting them.

Their opposites are reformed heroes.
