The Kriegstaffebots are major antagonists in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
They are a group of robots who were originally built by Abigail Gluck of the Benevolent Lodge of Mystery to look for the Planispheric Disk pieces. After her death, Professor Pericles found her underwater lab and began making an army of them to be his enforcers in his own search for the pieces.
They were voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who also voices Bubble Bass in SpongeBob SquarePants and Klaus Heissler on American Dad.
Biography[]
The Kriegstaffebots are robots build by Abigail Gluck and Professor Pericles who fought alongside them in search of the Evil Entity. They are German World War II-inspired robots who have SS-styled helmets, glowing red eyes, and are depicted with either a large machine-gun for a left arm, or with retractable weapons within their forearms.
They are first seen in "The Midnight Zone" where they attack Cassidy Williams, sent by Pericles because of them thinking she is a liability, only to end up being destroyed. One Kriegstaffebot, who comes out of the water, attacks the gang at Skipper Shelton's Clam Cabin restaurant, but is shot with a harpoon gun by Skipper himself. Controlled by Pericles, after the gang found Abigail's corpse, the Kriegstaffebots surrounded the underwater factory and Cassidy held back to unjam the submarine. Since the factory was on a time limit to explode, Cassidy didn't make it, hence she was blown up in the process.
They are also seen in Scooby's dream with Nova in "Stand and Deliver", where they attempting to slaughter them, first while they were on a date, then when Scooby was visiting Nova in the hospital.
They later appeared near the end of "The Man in The Mirror", after the gang was tricked by Pericles into revealing the location of the disk and threated to hurt Daphne if Fred refused to give it to Pericles.
Later in "Gates of Gloom", when Pericles kidnaps everyone in Crystal Cove to locate the doorway to the cursed treasure, the Kriegstaffebots served as guards to make sure no one escaped. Pericles also instructed Mr. E to have the robots killed everyone when the doorway was found. Mr. E initially refuses, but is forced to do so after Pericles tortures him to do it. Later, when the gang lead a revolt, most of the robots are destroyed in the conflict. The remaining eight later went with Pericles and his team down the cavern to find the treasure.
During Pericles' search for the Evil Entity's crystal sarcophagus in "Through the Curtain", they were ordered by Pericles to threaten to exterminate Marcie Fleach because the gang had the keys to open the gates. When Fred activates the first gate, two of the robots are pulled into it and destroyed. When Marcie takes Pericles hostage to give the gang time to destroy the Entity, Judy Reeves whips HDW with Brad Chiles' belt and immediately disarms her. Pericles then has the robots kill her. The next scene where the gang cross an unsteady bridge, distant minigun gunshots are heard, and Velma and Scooby know Marcie was killed ruthlessly because she took Pericles hostage. The last six Kriegstaffebots later appear in the finale, "Come Undone", after Pericles is possessed by the Evil Entity, it takes control of them and orders them to capture Mystery Incorporated and Mr. E so it could consume them. However, all of them were destroyed. Two by Shaggy by knocking them into a lava pool, three by Fred and Velma using a cannon they loaded with diamonds, and the last one was decapitated by Mr. E with a sword.
Trivia[]
- Abigail Gluck may have been influenced to base the robots on Nazi designs, leaving her affiliation after leaving the Benevolent Lodge of Mystery unclear, as it was not revealed what she would do with the Planispheric Disk pieces if she found them.
- "Kriegstaffebot" may be a corruption or English transliteration of "Krieg staffel", meaning "War Season" or "wartime", thus translating to "wartime robots".
