Prince Goro is the secondary antagonist of the 1995 live-action film Mortal Kombat. He is the undefeated champion of Mortal Kombat and Shang Tsung's right-hand man as well as the arch enemy of Johnny Cage based on the video-game character of the same name.
He was portrayed by Tom Woodruff Jr. and voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, who also voiced Kabal in Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, Deus Ex Machina in The Matrix Revolutions, Carlton Duquesne in Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, Floronic Man in Batman and Harley Quinn, the Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012), General Aguila in TMNT, Kamek in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Gantu in Lilo & Stitch, Sarevok Anchev in Baldur's Gate, Tartarus in Halo 2, Darkseid in Superman: Shadow of Apokolips, Heihachi Mishima in Soul Calibur II, Skulker in Danny Phantom and the Joker in The Batman.
Goro was a Prince from the realm of Shokan and the General of Outworld armies under Emperor Shao Kahn. He was also the right-hand man of sorcerer Shang Tsung. 500 years ago, Goro defeated and killed the reigning champion, the Great Kung Lao, and held the title of champion for centuries being undefeated. Even though Goro had a high status and great power he still served under Shang Tsung and respected him, even getting angry everytime someone insulted him.
Goro was invited at the tournament once again by Shang and had a dinner with a fellow ally of Shang Tsung, Kano. Kano's terrible table manners and arrogance as well as his lack of respect for Shang Tsung and himself angered Goro who threatened him and almost got in a fight with him before being interrupted by Shang who warned him about two possible dangerous enemies, Liu Kang and Princess Kitana. Goro wasn't worried about either of them and claimed that he never fails.
After even the strongest Outworld warriors such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero lost, Shang Tsung unleashed Goro, who easily defeated several Earthrealm fighters. His next opponentn was Art Lean, one of the most skilled Earthrealm fighters and friend of Johnny Cage. Art managed to hit Goro a couple of times but did no damage and was brutally beaten by the Shokan Prince, who finished him with a chop to the neck. Goro was then challenged by Johnny Cage who wanted to avenge his friend and had a plan in mind for the fight. Goro broke his glasses and thought it would be an easy fight but was caught of guard by Johnny. Shang Tsung angared by his failure called him an imbecile and ordered him to finish him so Goro followed Cage but that was his downfall as Cage lured him to a spot where Goro's physical advantage would be useless. Cage kicked him several times and threw him into a cliff killing him. Goro's defeat angered and worried Shang Tsung who started to become desperate and cheated in order to win the tournament even kidnapping Sonya Blade and having his secret warrior Reptile ambush the remaining Earthrealm warriors in the process.
