Bianca is a supporting character in season 6 of the television series Game of Thrones. She is a Braavosi mummer who was a member of Izembaro's theater troupe.
She was portrayed by Eline Powell.
Biography[]
Bianca is seen in Season 6 at Braavos while playing in Izembaro's traveling theater, where she plays the role of Sansa Stark in The Bloody Hand, a comedic reenactment of the prelude to the Westerosi War of the Five Kings. However, she secretly envies her colleague Lady Crane, who plays the far more significant role of Dowager Queen Cersei Lannister, while her own character, Sansa, has only two lines.
When Arya Stark, an acolyte of the Faceless Men, is tasked by "Jaqen H'ghar" to assassinate Lady Crane, she suspiciously asks Jaqen if it was Bianca who hired her, but she doesn't get an answer, as the guild refuses to indulge such curiosities and the assassins must only perform their duties.
While disguised as a staff member of Izembaro's troupe, Arya discovers that Bianca is secretly memorizing Lady Crane's lines from The Bloody Hand backstage, thus realizing Bianca's identity as the person who hired her. Arya does indeed poison Lady Crane's rum, but suddenly pushes the glass away from the latter's hand as she was about to drink it, timely saving her. Arya gives Lady Crane a warning to watch out for Bianca.
A few days later, Arya is found by Lady Crane, who tells her the implication that she has disfigured Bianca's face enough for her to be forced to look for another job and no longer work as a mummer, although her life was spared.
Despite this, Bianca wins the assassination of Lady Crane at the hands of the Waif, who explains to Arya that the contract was promised and no one can change it, in addition to the fact that she personally requested the assassination of Arya for betraying the organization, and it has been approved. However, in the end, Arya manages to kill the Waif by extinguishing a candle and using the element of surprise to take her face and show it to Jaqen just before she leaves Braavos.
Trivia[]
- There is no character named "Bianca" in the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series. The character is a creation of the TV series. In the books, it is Arya Stark herself who plays the role of an unnamed maiden who is raped by the Demonic Dwarf, who is portrayed by the dwarf Bobono, like in the show. During their practices, Arya is constantly sexually harassed by Bobono, much to her annoyance.
- In the books, The Bloody Hand is a play written by playwright Phario Forel and is likely based on the recent political drama that took place in Westeros.
- But unlike the show, the play is not outright admitted to be based on Westerosi politics. And Phario Forel wrote it specifically in honor of the arrival of a delegation of the Iron Throne at Braavos, led by envoy Ser Harys Swyft, the Master of Coin and father-in-law of Ser Kevan Lannister.
- All the characters in the play are unnamed in the books. The known ones are the Bloody Hand/the Demonic Dwarf (played by Bobono), who is the villainous protagonist; the Fat King (played by Izembaro); the Boy King (unnamed actor); the Boar (portrayed by Big Brusco as a demon boar); the deity Stranger of the Faith of the Seven (played by Marro); the Queen (played by Lady Stork, who is Lady Crane's book counterpart); and the Maiden rape victim (played by Mercy; possibly inspired by Shae or Sansa Stark).
- Other known members of Izembaro's troupe are the mummers Daena and Wendeyne, but it is not said what parts they play. The Snapper is the troupe's wardrobe mistress.
- In the TV show, Izembaro also plays Tywin Lannister during the second act. There is also a character named Camello who plays Eddard Stark. In the novels, there is no mention of a character named Camello, and like Bianca, he only appears in the show. It has not been mentioned yet whether Eddard or Tywin's characters will appear in The Bloody Hand.
- So far in the books, The Bloody Hand has only been featured in a sample chapter of the upcoming sixth novel, The Winds of Winter, and thus its known contents may change in the final version.
