Raza Hamidmi Al-Wazar is the secondary antagonist of Iron Man, the first installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He was a commander of the Ten Rings, an organization dedicated to disrupting world peace, as well as a business partner of Obadiah Stane. Raza captured Tony Stark in order to seize all of his weapons to conquer all of Asia. However, the latter would escape and end up creating the Mark I armor, using it as a force of good for the world. Upon meeting Stane in person to have a prototype of the armor in exchange for an army of them, Stane executed Raza for his failure to capture Iron Man.
He was portrayed by Faran Tahir.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- Had the Ten Rings destroy a U.S. convoy in an attempt to kill Tony Stark.
- Upon discovering Stark to be alive, he had him captured and ordered him to construct a Jericho missile for the Ten Rings.
- Intended to torture Ho Yinsen with a hot coal.
- Had his men confront Yinsen and Stark upon realizing they were not building the missile, intending to kill them. The former ended up sacrificing himself to give Stark enough time to escape, making Raza indirectly responsible for Yinsen's death.
- Planned to use Iron Man's first armor for conquest, meeting up with Stane to try to create a collection of them.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Even amongst Phase One villains, Raza does not pass the Marvel Cinematic Universe's extremely high heinous standards, and notably fails to Obadiah Stane, who himself fails the heinous standard. This is not helped by Raza's worst crimes being one murder and attempting to take over a country, which further makes him generic in a franchise where crimes like mass murder are common.
