Freabear better known as Golden Freddy is the secondary antagonist of the ScottGames era of Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.

He is a supernatural springlock suit who served as the precursor to Freddy Fazbear and titular mascot of the original Fazbear restaurant, Fredbear Family Diner. The animatronic (or at least a variant of it) was infamous for an incident name the Big Bite, or later the Bite of '83, where it accidentally bit and killed the youngest son of William Afton. He is possessed by a dead little girl name Cassidy, one of Afton's victims. Cassidy holds a burning hatred towards Afton for taking their life and once he died she tormented him as revenge for all eternity.

His Evil Ranking[]

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • He along with the other animatronics tried to kill several nightguards including Michael Afton and Jeremy Fitzgerald for mistaking them from William Afton.
  • He successfully killed Ralph the phone guy who was interacting with the player on how to do their job in the pizzeria.
  • In Ultimate Custom Night, he endlessly tortures William Afton in his nightmares by reviving the animatronics then they give him death threats and jumpscare him over and over and over again. What is even worse is that Golden Freddy also trapped the souls of others victims and forced them to torment William, even if it prevents any of them from moving on.
    • While it can be argued his methods are for good intentions, he is not doing this out of justice, but for personal revenge since William Afton killed him and his friends. The other animatronics don't agree with his method. Henry and the other animatronics don't want to see William suffer; they just want him dead. Old Man Consequence outright tells Golden to leave William Afton alone and "resting their own soul".
    • Even when Withered Bonnie out of all animatronics (who doesn't have a face) said "What is this new prison? Is it me trapped, or is it you? Perhaps, it's us both". Which means what Golden Freddy is doing to Afton is no better than what the Missing Children themselves had to go through in the past games. This also shows that Golden Freddy not only trapped William's soul but also the souls of others victims and forced them to torment William, even if it prevents any of them from moving on. it also highlights that the other souls feel like prisoners from Golden Freddy's actions.
    • Although some of the tortures are comedic like when William Afton has to listen to Mr. Hippo funny long speech for 3 minutes or when William Afton has to help Toy Freddy in playing a video game, he is still played dead seriously especially during the Old Man Consequence cutscene where you can here in the background of William Afton screaming in agony for Henry and Michael to help him and the countless death threats that the animatronics gave him before jumpscaring him proves that Golden Freddy is taken completely seriously.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While he most certainly does enough to pass the baseline thanks to killing several night guards and his brutal torment of William Afton, he still fails the Heinous Standards to several others in the series, such as Gregory who brutally killed Vanny’s therapists and even his own killer William Afton, who both did worse with lower resources.
    • On top of this, he relies on Fridge Horror, as it is unclear how many guards he went after and even if he killed them, as the only confirmed ones are Michael Afton, Jeremy Fitzgerald, and Ralph the Phone Guy.
  • He is tragic, as he was an innocent child that was murdered by Afton and put in a state that's implied to be a fate worse than death. Even them deciding to torture Afton is played for sympathy, as Golden Freddy has a chance to finally move on but he decided he can't because he couldn't let go of his hatred for William Afton and he couldn't moved on from his past tragedy which is still played heavily for sympathy. Even other people such as the Puppet and Old Man Consequences heavily understand his anger and treat him with understanding as they try to help him move on. This is the complete opposite of the Funtime Animatronics, who shed their tragedy by killing other people who have nothing to do with their tragedy unlike them however, Golden Freddy never subverts his tragedy and is always played for sympathy.
    • Also his defeat of being forced to move on is somewhat played for sympathy as he fades away stuttering and feeling chained to his own tragedy, acting like it can never be undone and feels unsatisfied with his revenge.
  • He does care for The Missing Children as he was willing to help them get revenge on William Afton for murdering him and his friends.
    • This was proven in Fnaf 3, Happiest Minigame, where he feels emotional when the Puppet hands him cake, and he moves on together with the other animatronics in the afterlife showing his affection to them.

Trivia[]

  • He was previously Inconsistently Heinous as it was discussed that his torture on William Afton was brutal and everyone in-universe disagrees with Golden Freddy's method and they just want William Afton to suffer, and they told him to just let go of the past, until it was further discussed that, similar to Vanny, who was also cut from being IH, he fails the Heinous Standards to other villains in the series. This lead to Golden Freddy to being cut from Inconsistently Heinous and moved to this wiki instead.
