Enjin Banba

Enjin Banba (円陣, Enjin) was member no.7 of Under, and no. 13 of the 101st Union. His location was a reward for completing the 99th Penalty quest, which the 100th Union completed. However, they did not go after Unburn due to already having captured UMA Burn. In the 101st loop, his location was revealed following the Sick Quest, with the Union opting to go after him this time.

He was originally a traveling ramen chef before awakening Unburn.

Appearance[]

Enjin has a notable "hooligan" appearance - spiky red hair and a scar across his left eye. He wears a torn off cap that his hair goes through, a rugged shirt with a leather jacket on top. In his 101st loop, he lacks the scar on his face and his cap is in better condition. However, after crashing into the hospital his mother is staying at, his appearance matches his previous loop's self.

Personality[]

Enjin cares for the well being of his fellow Under members. In the 101st loop, he is also a competent chef, and reacts violently to people who disrespect his food, whether they be a bad person or not. He also cares deeply for his mother and bringing joy through his food.

History[]

Enjin traveled the world in order to create the prefect ramen, called "Bankararamen" to both make people happy, but specifically for his ailing mother. However, he was not able to achieve it before he was unable to cook again after awakening to Unburn, and the Bankararamen thus never made it to her before she passed away. Ironically, it was only after awakening to Unburn that he perfected his dish. He was later brought into Under, and Rip does the cooking by following Enjin's recipe, with the former chef believing others eating Bankararamen is the best way to mourn her.

Plot[]

Spoil Arc[]

Apocalypse makes a quest for capturing of UMA Eat, allowing five participants and offers the location of Negator Unburn as a reward for completion.^[2]

Unrepair Arc[]

Juiz, Tatiana, Billy, Phil, and Top participated in the quest and managed to successfully capture Eat. As a result, Apocalypse reveals the location of Unburn to the Union for the next seven days. He says they may capture Unburn if they need them, but doesn't expect them to since they've already captured UMA Burn.^[3] He's correct, as the Union do not attempt to go after Unburn and instead go after Unrepair. At some point after this, he joins Under.

Spring Arc[]

He does not participate in the raid against Spring and remains in Under's base alongside Kurusu.

Ragnarok Arc[]

When Ragnarok begins, Enjin and Kurusu are escorting civilians. When Sun's avatar lands on Earth, he and Backs are taken to it by Move. Enjin protects Backs from igniting so she is able to contain Sun inside an Unback shell. They succeed, but as she is bonded with the shells Sun's heat begins to cook her - Enjin says that Unburn only covers combustion, heat itself is unaffected, leading to Backs' death and immediately releasing Sun. When Fuuko is about to look, he is seen helping to stop Sun from crushing Ark. Once Fuuko loops, he and everyone on Earth is killed, marking the end of the 100th loop.

Sick Arc[]

He is brought up by Fuuko as part of her plan to save Andy from the Sun.

Unburn Arc[]

His location in revealed to be New York, as a reward for clearing the Sick Quest. He is first shown punching an unruly costumer for hating his meal. When Fuuko approaches him and states his Bankararamen is currently lacking something, he initially takes offense, claiming to have traveled the world to perfect his dish. However, upon realizing that she is "The Red Cap of Good Luck", decides to take her words seriously, and accepts her cooking challenge so that his previous self's recipe can be passed down to them. While he wins the competition, he learns that what his previous self wanted to make; a simple dish made for his mother, not one loved by everyone.

However, his Unburn activates and prevents him from cooking, but thanks to the Union and the use of an induction stovetop, his "Senpen Bankaramen" is able to reach his mother, as well as everyone in her hospital. As thanks, Enjin agrees to help Fuuko with whatever she needs, joining the Union as they plan to rescue Andy from Sun is sent underway. At the Sun, Enjin uses his negation in conjunction with Heat (while affected by Untruth) to keep the team safe while they reach Andy. They are forced to flee when Change attacks, but not before Andy sends out an "attack" that leads the Union to five more Negators: Backs, Top, Tatiana, Kurusu, and Julia, Juiz's reincarnation.

Unjustice Arc[]

Its revealed that Enjin has become the thirteenth seated member of the Union.

Powers & Abilities[]

Unburn (不燃 (アンバーン) , Anbān^?): Enjin is able to negate all forms of burning and combustion within a certain radius. Through focusing, he is able to expand this area, as demonstrated when he's able to extinguish the sun for five minutes^[4].

Ramen Cooking Expertise: Enjin is a world class ramen chef, his creation of "Bankararamen" being loved by all who eat it.
