Yusai (友才, Yūsai?) is a Japanese samurai who helped train Andy in the past and she later becomes no. 5 of Under. In the 101st loop, she is No. 9 of the Union.

Yusai fell for Andy whilst training him and said he'd be a perfect partner to continue her families legacy and make an heir for the future, Andy rejected this offer and Yusai was very sad when he left.
Plot[]
Autumn Arc[]
She is first seen in Akira Kuno's flashback to discover if Andy was real, recalling the summer of that year was when he would come to Japan to practice the quick draw sword technique from her. After Andy managed to master all of her family's arts in one year, she tearfully begs him to stay, in the hopes that they could continue her family's legacy, as well as having fallen for him. Andy agreed to it, but only if she could outlive him. Since this was impossible, he left Yusai in tears as he walked away, over the loss of perhaps the first person she fell in love with, all while Akira notes that "negators are always suffering".

She is mentioned as one of the Negators Fuuko wants to save to build the "ultimate Union".
Negator War Arc[]
She is first seen seriously malnourished thanks to keeping an unspecified UMA in place with her newly-awakened Undraw for a week. She is saved just before she can pass out thanks to Fuuko using Unluck to shock the UMA, allowing the both of them to escape. At the Union base, Yusai is fed and is told the whole story about Negators and God, but wonders how she can help since she can't draw her sword anymore. Even so, she then agrees to help save Billy, Tella, and Creed from their tragedies as payment. She starts by helping Fuuko locate Kusuga Village, rescuing Isshin the 12th from the UMA that would kill Haruka's father.
Powers & Abilities[]

Master Swordsmanship: Yusai is a great sword master having taught Andy how to fight with swords when she was younger and even though she is older her sword skill remains impressive. Her skill is so great that she can perform her special sword techniques with her blade sheathed.
Equipment[]
Fierbois Sabre: A sword imbued with the power of UMA Burn. It was taken from Juiz after her battle with Billy, and briefly used by Yusai during the Spring Arc.
Kurikara: A katana forged with Unbreakable. It is her main weapon during almost all of the 101st loop, though she was unable to draw it. After Andy’s return to the Union, she passed it to him, reuniting him with his preferred weapon of the 100th loop.
Etymology[]
- The name Yusai means "friend, companion, pal" (友) (yu) and "talent, genius, years old, cubic shaku" (才) (sai).
