For the vehicle in the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed, see Buggy (Sonic Unleashed).

A sturdy ground vehicle for city use as well as rougher terrain.

— Description[1]

The Buggy, also called the Armed Buggy, is a vehicle used by Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). It is equipped with a machine gun and missile launchers, and is designed to chase down and eliminate enemies. It can speed up by using an ability called the Boost Dash.

Shadow is the only character who has access to it. He drives the Buggy during several stages, such as those in Wave Ocean. He is also required to use the vehicle for several Town Missions.

Official description[]

"The Buggy is a general-purpose vehicle that is just as capable zooming across a paved street as it is speeding through rough terrain. The Buggy employs Homing Missiles to attack enemies, but it can only fire two missiles before you must wait for the launcher to reload."

Missions[]

The Buggy is used during Shadow's third Town Mission, "Emergency Order: Capture the Thieves' Cars!", when a G.U.N. soldier informs him that thieves have stolen fuel from the Rimlight corporation in Soleanna New City. In this mission, Shadow must use the Buggy to pursue and destroy the thieves' vehicles.

In Soleanna Forest, a man called Dante owns a shop which allows visitors to try out the Buggy in a Ring Race. In Shadow's fifth Town Mission, "Buggy Ring Race", he must drive the buggy through all the rings on the course within the time limit so that Dante may award him with a prize.

The Buggy is also used during the "Car Festival" which Shadow takes part in for his ninth Town Mission. It belongs to an inexperienced racing team led by Prodi, who lets Shadow race the buggy along Soleanna's highway and attempt to beat Schultz, Prodi's arch-rival.

Trivia[]

Buggyanim

Sonic riding the Buggy incorrectly.

  • In the game files of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), there is a set of unused animations that enables Sonic to ride the Buggy. If this animation was to be activated, he would be able to ride it by swapping him over Shadow, although the animation makes Sonic hang above the Buggy, and not sit inside it.
    • Unused conversation between Sonic and Shadow hint that Sonic may have been implemented to ride another part of the Buggy and not drive it himself.
