A Chance Meeting of Light and Dark I (邂逅明暗 I Kaikō Meian I) is the 27th chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
Shana confronted Margery. Despite Alastor's warnings, Shana commenced the battle.

On top of the Yoda Department Store, Margery and Marchosias felt the huge and hostile presence of the Flame Haze approaching them, and deactivated the spell. Margery told Satō and Tanaka through the flame she had left behind that it wasn't that unusual for two Flame Haze to fight, and activated a Fūzetsu, telling them that it would block them off from the outside, essentially becoming their secret battlefield. They see the Flame Haze approaching, and from her appearance, recognized her as the "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter".
Margery's hatred for Denizens.
Shana landed on the roof and asked what Margery was doing. Marchosias greeted Alastor, who he had met before. Alastor told Shana about Margery and Marchosias and that it was no use talking to them because they were ready to fight. Margery told Shana that she was hunting for Lamies, who had sneaked into the city. Alastor stated that there was no need to hunt Lamies, as he was an exception among Denizens who maintained the world's balance, and that chasing him would just cause needless sacrifices and strife. This angered Margery, who thought there were no exceptions, and that Lamies would stop keeping a low profile and cause a calamity when he had gathered enough Power of Existence. Margery wanted to kill all of the Denizens, and Marchosias joked that they were removing calamities before they occurred. Alastor told Marchosias to stop using Margery's hatred to tell her lies.
Margery guessed that Shana had killed Friagne and wanted to fight her, with Marchosias provoking Shana as well. Despite Alastor's warnings, to his surprise Shana wanted to fight as well, due to her existing irritation. When Marchosias insulted Alastor by calling him a coward, Shana rushed at them, and Margery donned her flame robe, transforming into a large beast. Shana dodged two of Margery's punches and cut off her arm, but Margery vanished and appeared behind her. Margery blasted Shana with flames from her mouth, which Shana barely dodged. Alastor told Shana about the flame robe, Toga, which was a Manifestation of Marchosias. He went on to say that Margery excelled in battle as an Unrestricted Spell Master, and that Shana had to focus.
Margery regenerated her arm and used it to fling numerous fireballs at Shana. Shana charged through the fireballs without getting hit and stabbed at the beast, but it disappeared again. Shana looked behind herself to see that all the fireballs had morphed into clones of Margery. Shana saw one beast hiding behind a wall and rushed at it, thinking it was the real Margery, but it wasn't. The real Margery created an explosion which threw Shana back. When Shana looked up, all of the beast clones were floating above her. With another spell, they all returned to being fireballs and headed for Shana, causing a big explosion.

- The Improvisational Poem of Slaughter used by Margery against Shana is based on the nursery rhyme A Sunshiny Shower, and in Japanese it refers to the kitsune no yomeiri. In the Viz English translation, the poem was changed to be It's Raining, It's Pouring.
