"Rinne" Flowers II (“燐子”の花 II "Rin'ne" no Hana II) is the 57th chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
Shana went to destroy the source of the siblings' Power of Existence regeneration but fell into a trap.
Summary[]
Tiriel was attacking Shana with her vines, bored as Shana was dodging and not saying anything. Shana thought about how the siblings hadn't moved since receiving the Power of Existence, blocking her from the location where the power had come from, and thought that they didn't want her to go there. Wanting to finish things, Tiriel summoned a large number of vines to envelope the building Shana was on. Shana had figured out the speed and range of the vines and had been holding back her movements when dodging in order to surprise the siblings. The vines crushed the building but Shana dodged them with her wings and flew at the siblings, surprising Tiriel. She tried to attack with vines but Shana dodged them, telling her that the siblings' clinging to each other was unpleasant, before flashing past her towards the source of the Power of Existence. Shana arrived at the source, a giant flower, and flew up above it. She tried to manifest Alastor's power, like the way he had incinerated the roof of Yoda Department Store with one breath, and released a big burst of flames at the flower, incinerating it. However, it was Tiriel's trap, and an Unrestricted Spell activated.
As the old man Rinne in front of him began to transform into a giant flower bud, a hand grabbed Yūji's neck from behind and lifted him up. As the flowers' vines drew closer, Yūji thought he would be devoured.
The spell had left Shana shackled in mid-air, with her wings unable to free her. Tiriel and Sorath arrived, with Tiriel ridiculing Shana for thinking the flower was their weakness. Tiriel explained that the flowers were Rinne called Pinions which collected Power of Existence within Cradle Garden and could release it near the siblings. She stated that there were 20 to 30 Pinions and it wouldn't matter if one was destroyed, as another would already be ready to release Power of Existence. It would be extremely difficult to destroy them all, as they were disguised as humans and had traps cast on them, and Shana was already immobile from one trap. Just in case, Tiriel got a vine to strike Shana. At Sorath's urging, Tiriel manipulated the spell to start clamping on the hand which held the Nietono no Shana. Shana struggled, as the force of the clamping was enough to break bones, and she eventually dropped the sword.
