Duel in the Rain III (雨中の決闘 III Uchū no Kettō III ) is the 44th chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
Shana defeated Tanaka in the dodgeball match. Later, Shana took a shower with other girls in her class.
Summary[]
Satō and some other classmates cheered for Tanaka as he threw the ball and got someone out in the dodgeball game. The girls were cheering for Shana as she also got someone out. Yūji was watching the match when Yoshida approached him, wondering if he was okay. Yūji had a bruise on his face, and his hand touched Yoshida's as she tried to wipe the blood off his face with a handkerchief. They both became embarrassed. Yūji tried to decline because the handkerchief would get dirty, but Yoshida was adamant. Suddenly, a heavy rain began to fall. On the field, Shana had been watching the two and was shocked when she saw their hands touch. Tanaka took the opportunity to throw the ball at Shana, but she caught it. As the teacher told the students to go inside, Tanaka asked Shana for a 1-on-1 match, which she agreed to. Shana made two feints by first throwing the ball into the wet ground, then catching it and feigning a low shot, before throwing the ball into Tanaka's chin, knocking him out. The class cheered.
After the class, the girls were showering in the volleyball club's shower room, which Ogata had allowed them to use, as she was a member of the club. She gave advice on how to use the showers and dry their clothes. Outside, Yūji and Ike were sitting at the door to the clubhouse, guarding it, as the door couldn't be locked from the inside. Yūji lamented that the rain had passed quickly and thought of sitting there as torture because they could hear the girls talking. Ike was on the student committee and the girls had suggested Yūji guard with him because if Yūji tried to peek at the girls, one of them would hit him and one would cry.
The boys then heard a girl commenting on Yoshida's figure, which was always hidden by her clothes. As two girls fondled Yoshida's large breasts, Shana asked if bigger ones were better. The girls said that boys liked them that way, and as Shana stared at an embarrassed Yoshida, the two girls assured her that she was pretty. Shana noted that she was fairly flat-chested but didn't understand what they were talking about, leading the girls to comment on how Yūji was popular with his "funny face".
Yūji had heard everything from outside but wisely kept quiet. Ike suddenly asked him if he liked Shana with a serious expression. Yūji replied that it wasn't something he could clearly answer. He thought that Ike had suggested Yoshida approach him during the Phys Ed. class, thinking that she wouldn't have done so by herself, but Ike punched him. Ike said that Yūji was underestimating Yoshida and that she was improving. He then pondered over Yūji's answer to his question.
