“ | Fool! Don't you get it? It's over, Jak! All the heroes died long ago. Only survival remains, by whatever means! This city is mine! These lives are mine! This war is mine! And in war, people die! | „ |
~ Baron Praxis to Jak and Daxter. |
Baron Praxis is the secondary antagonist of Jak II.
He is a corrupt and tyrannical monarch who proclaims himself "Grand Protector of Haven City". But there is more, Praxis made a deal with the leader of the Metal Heads in order to sustain his control over the city and to scare the citizens with the Metal Heads to give people something else to worry about other than to try to overthrow the Baron.
He was voiced by Clancy Brown, who also played The Kurgan in Highlander, Lex Luthor in Superman/Batman. Public Enemies, Silas in Transformers: Prime, the Evil Entity in Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated and Bloodwolf in The Adventures of Puss in Boots. In the Japanese version, he was voiced by the late Daisuke Gōri.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Prior to the second game, he betrayed and banished Damas to the Wasteland, with the help of Count Veger.
- Kidnapped Jak and used him for his Dark Eco experiments for two years which caused Jak to become bitter, rude, and volatile.
- In an attempt to sniff out the underground rebellion, he cut off the water supply to the slums where Torn resided, disregarding the lives of even those who are docile towards him.
- He claimed his tyrannical rule is to protect against the Metal Heads, when he was actually bribing them to attack the city to justify his will and even planned to backstab them when the deal falls apart.
- Kidnapped innocent civilians and infected them with Dark Eco as he did with Jak to make them soldiers for his army.
- Showed no remorse for his actions and no care for his own daughter, Ashelin Praxis and even threatened to kill her if the Underground didn't return the Precursor Stone.
- Despite being killed by Metal Kor, who is also Pure Evil, he tried to detonate a bomb that would wipe out Haven City, not caring for his own people caught in the crossfires if it means wiping out the Metal Heads altogether. It was clear that it was not sympathetic on his end and was pretty well-deserved.
- Of course, even if he hadn't wiped out Haven City, it would've still been overrun by the Metal Heads had Jak not defeated Metal Kor and put an end to his reign of terror altogether.
