Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger (忍風戦隊ハリケンジャー Ninpū Sentai Harikenjā), is the 26th production of the Super Sentai television series. It joined Kamen Rider RyukiIcon-crosswikion February 17, 2002 and its footage was used in the Americanized Power Rangers Ninja Storm. It is the franchise's second ninja themed series and has a motif of toys.

Shout! Factory released Hurricaneger in North America on March 26, 2019.[1]

The average ratings of the series was 7.5%.[2]

Plot[]

In the Hayate's Way Ninja Academy, three of its pupils aren't exactly fitting in. But because their Sensei believes them to have potential, he regularly spends the morning personally subjecting them to rigorous training. While the other students are having their graduation ceremony, a group of evil space ninja known as the Jakanja infiltrated the school, killing most of the students. The school's Sensei, Mugensai, turned himself into a hamster to evade his pursuers. The trio was then taken to a secret base to become the legendary Hurricanegers to fight the Jakanja. But they also had to deal with the two ninja brothers of the Ikazuchi's Way Ninja Academy for a while because the Gouraigers were searching for the Evil Force that Jakanja was searching for. But once the Gouraigers abandoned their mad quest, they joined forces with the Hurricanegers.

  • Hurricaneger was aired in Japan on TV Asahi from February 17, 2002 to February 9, 2003, airing every Sunday on 7.30 a.m..[5]
  • In Thailand, the series was given a Thai subtitled and aired on Channel 5 in 2004. But only 48 out of 51 episodes were broadcast. The series with all episodes released, subtitled in Thai.[Citation needed]
  • In the Philippines, this series aired on ABS-CBN as Power Rangers Ninja Storm, an American adaptation of this Sentai series. It was aired in 2005 until 2006 with Tagalog dub. At the same year, it was also aired on ABC 5 (now TV5) as Hurricaneger with Tagalog dub.[Citation needed]
  • In the Chinese-speaking nations, both Mandarin (Taiwan dialect) and Cantonese subtitles were produced and aired in Taiwan and Hong Kong respectively.[Citation needed]
    • In Taiwan, the series aired with a Taiwanese Mandarin subtitled on October 3, 2004, until September 25, 2005 with all episodes, airing on GTV.[Citation needed]
    • In Hong Kong, the series aired with a Cantonese Chinese subtitled on March 6, 2005 (a few months after Taiwan aired the original English audio and Taiwanese Mandarin subtitles) on TVB Jade until March 12, 2006 with all episodes.[Citation needed]

  • The South Korean Power Rangers dub skipped ahead from Power Rangers Wild Force to Abaranger, omitting both Hurricaneger and Power Rangers Ninja Storm; in the Korean dub of Gokaiger, Power Rangers Captain Force, Hurricaneger is called Power Rangers Ninja Storm and four of the members were renamed as StormRed, StormBlue, StormYellow, and StormGreen.
  • In a net movie, Kamen Rider Den-OIcon-crosswiki's UratarosIcon-crosswiki, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's Gai Ikari, and Kamen Rider DecadeIcon-crosswiki's NarutakiIcon-crosswiki claim that Hurricaneger's name was partially inspired by Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was popular at the time of release. In Japanese, the movie's title is written as ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石 (Hari Potta to kenja no ishi) which is abbreviated ハリー賢者 (Hari-kenja) which then evolved to ハリケンジャー (Harikenjā).[6]
  • This series was originally called Dainin Sentai Ninjaman (Great Ninja Squadron Ninjaman).[7]
  • In the ending credits of Power Rangers Ninja Storm, Hurricaneger is credited as "Hurricane Rangers."
