Clean-Up Club is the thirty-seventh episode of the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and originally aired on November 23, 1993.
Synopsis[]
The city of Angel Grove is polluted and overcome by trash; thus the Rangers come together and organize a clean-up club in order to help clean up the city and recycle. Rita Repulsa decides to end the Rangers' plight and releases the Polluticorn. Jason uses the Dragon Shield for the last time in defeating this mythical terror.
Plot[]
Just as Miss Appleby calls her class to attention, Bulk and Skull enter the classroom. Skull is filming Bulk as he walks in for their video called "Bulk: The World's Greatest Guy". Skull walks backwards as he films and accidentally bumps into Miss Appleby, who tells them to sit down. Billy, Kimberly, and Jason are not amused by Bulk and Skull's antics. After Bulk sits down, Skull tells him to shift as the lighting is not good. Confused on where to move, Bulk falls, to the class's amusement. Skull helps Bulk back up and promises he will edit it out later.
Miss Appleby tells the class it's time for their first video project. Trini is called up to present her video. Trini tells the class that her video project is called "Pollution Problems in Angel Grove". The video has Trini narrating as footage of pollution is shown. The video states although progress has been made, there is still the problem of garbage, dirty air, and polluted water. Trini warns it's important not to destroy nature's delicate balance, noting that if Earth's animals disappear, so will people. The video ends.
Miss Appleby tells Trini she did a very nice job and tells the class that pollution is a serious concern to society. Billy agrees and Kimberly asks what they can do to help. Trini plans to start a clean-up club that will spend one day a week doing environmentally conscious activities such as recycling, cleaning trails, and counting endangered species. Jason, Billy, Kimberly, and Zack all show support.
Rita, having spied on the Rangers, announces her plan to send Polluticorn to Angel Grove. Scorpina and Goldar are assigned to assist him.
The Youth Center is having a recycling drive. Jason and Zack are having fun crushing cans by using various exaggeratedmartial arts methods. Billy has created an organic paint for labeling the recycling bins and Kimberly directs Ernie on the placement of garbage and recycling bins. The teens then leave for the park as Bulk and Skull appear, still filming for their video. Skull, wanting to do the scene with Bulk, passes the camera to Ernie.
The Rangers work together to clean the park, then head off to clean a different section. Bulk appears, having hidden under a mass of trash bags and has Skull film him. He claims he picked up all the trash himself. When Skull tries to have Bulk move forward, Bulk slips and falls on the bags.
Rita causes trouble by sending the Putties to attack the Rangers. After defeating the Putties, Polluticorn descends on Angel Grove. The team morphs into battle, but Polluticorn does not seem to take damage so Zordon recalls them.
After learning that the monster's horn is the source of its power, the Rangers return to battle. Jason takes on Polluticorn while the others fight Scorpina and Goldar. Jason calls on the Dragon Shield to protect him and is able to cut off his horn, making him vulnerable.
Rita grows Polluticorn, but the Rangers summon the Megazord and defeat him with the Power Sword.
As the news reports of the Power Rangers successes against Rita, the Rangers have stacked up the cans and recyclables into a neat pile. Skull is seen filming Bulk as he roles in a tire to make him look like he cares about recycling. In the middle of filming, the two make a huge mess of the piled recyclables.
The next day, Miss Appleby announces they'll be watching Bulk and Skull's video. Bulk tries to come up with an excuse as to why he doesn't have the tape, but Skull appears, announcing he just finished editing it. Skull mentions to Bulk that there are a few glitches, but nothing to worry about. Bulk's video begins as normal, but the "glitches" alter the tape to show only the embarrassing scenes of Bulk. Everyone else in the class laughs, including Miss Appleby. Angry, Bulk chases Skull out of the class.
