Cameron "Cam" Watanabe is the son of Sensei Kanoi Watanabe and the late Miko Watanabe, nephew of Lothor, and cousin of Marah and Kapri. When he traveled back in time, Cam was given the mystical Samurai Amulet, which allowed him to morph into the Green Samurai Ranger, of the Ninja Storm Rangers.
History[]
Ninja Storm[]
Cam is the cynical, sarcastic, but intelligent son of Sensei Kanoi Watanabe, the head of the Wind Ninja Academy, the nephew of Lothor and cousin to Kapri and Marah. Though his father never allowed him to become a ninja himself (something he was frequently annoyed by), he was often at the academy where his father taught, acting as a mentor for the other students, being the most skillful.
After the academy was sucked into the sky by Lothor and his minions, he took the three remaining students (Shane Clarke, Dustin Brooks and Tori Hanson) into a high-tech underground dojo. Under instruction from his father, who had been turned into a guinea pig, he presented three Wind Morphers to the students, allowing them to become the Wind Rangers.
Throughout the series, he used his brilliant intellect to construct power spheres, Zords and weapons for the Rangers to use in battle. For example, when his father was captured by the Thunder Rangers, Cam created a powerful force-field to protect his father. After the two Bradley brothers joined the team, it was Cam that discovered the mystery piece in their Megazord that would allow the Storm Megazord to combine with the Thunder Megazord. However, he was still troubled by his father's stubborn refusal to let him become a Ranger himself. When Shane, Dustin, Hunter, and Blake realized this, all of them argued on Cam's behalf, thinking that he should be a Ranger.
A Samurai's Journey[]
When the Rangers lost their powers temporarily, Kanoi revealed to Cam that his mother had made him promise not to let Cam become a ninja, due to a ninja's dangerous life. However, still conflicted by his promise, he revealed that there were other powers that Cam could use instead. On his father's advice, he used the Scroll of Time to travel to the past. Once in the past, he encountered a younger version of his father when he was ambushed by him. Cam found himself laughing at the fact that his father was a bit pushy even back then. The Sensei of the Wind Ninja Academy did not suspect Cam as Kanoi did, and allowed Cam to enroll into the Ninja Academy for a short period of time.
In the past, Cam found out that his father had a twin brother, Kiya. He was at first shocked that his father would keep such a secret from him. The shock of finding out he even had an uncle shifted when his father faced off against a mystery samurai during a demonstration of swordsman skills. Kanoi was beaten easily, and the sensei of the Wind Ninja Academy revealed that the new coming samurai was Miko, Cam's mother. Miko, after defeating Kanoi, became the first female student to enroll at the Wind Ninja Academy.
Cam became fast friends with his mother (though he did not reveal their connection), and she said his mother's decision would have changed if she saw the kind of young man Cam was now. Cam saw that his mother possessed a green amulet with special powers and suspected this was the power he was sent to obtain. However, Kiya, who was power-hungry, tried to steal it by framing Cam as the thief by wearing clothes similar to Cam's, which was all Miko saw when she confronted the thief. Before Cam's judgement was carried out, Kanoi arrived and claimed Cam was innocent. He held Kiya before the sensei and revealed his brother had been practicing dark ninja arts. Kiya used his new dark powers in his attempt to escape and get the amulet, but the amulet shifted in the air and landed in Cam's hands. Cam and Kiya grabbed wooden practice swords and dueled in a one-on-one swordfight, and Cam emerged the victor when the amulet augmented his strength to counter Kiya's dark powers. Cam witnessed Kiya's banishment from the Academy, at which point Kiya forswore his family name and took on the name Lothor. Despite Cam's protests, the sensei stated that they would only banish the newly-christened Lothor, because of the sins he had committed in the present, not the future they cannot see.
Before Cam could explain, the time scroll re-opened. He tried to hand the amulet back to his mother, but she told him that Cam was its rightful owner when it unleashed power during his duel with Kiya. Cam brought the amulet back to the present and used it to morph into the Green Samurai Ranger.
As the Samurai Ranger, he helped the others fight Lothor's evil, still shocked by the discovery that Lothor was in fact his uncle. He created a holographic "virtual" duplicate of himself called "Cyber Cam" to take over day-to-day running of the dojo and maintenance of the equipment. Cyber-Cam was given an "urban" persona - wearing skull caps, speaking in slang, and being highly skilled in extreme sports.
When Lothor was finally defeated, Cam once again became an adviser at the Wind Ninja Academy, helping the other Rangers in their instructor duties - and keeping a special watch over Marah and Kapri, Lothor's nieces who had turned good.

Lothor's Return[]
After almost a year, Cam continuing his life in the rebuilt Wind Ninja Academy. Recently, Cam is worried about his father, he meets with Kapri and Marah and tells them that he wants them to be there cause they're his cousins cause Kapri and Marah motivate him. Cam continues his search for his father leaving the academy for a brief moment.
While still calling out to his father and later Shane, Tori and Dustin in the forest, Cam notice the scroll left out for the trio earlier and also notice Lothor's foot prints with a bit of ooze like substance on them. Cam deduce that this gooey stuff on the ground was from the Abyss of Evil. He horribly realized that the Wind Ninja school is once again in danger and tried to hurry back.
When Cam got back to the academy, he was already too late that the school already have been trashed and the Ninja students are gone meaning they have been captured by Lother once again. He contacts Hunter at the Thunder Ninja Academy with a small communication device telling him it has happened and they need to regroup.
In Reefside, Cam reunited with Hunter indicate the point of the reunion, due that the situation is important, he also proceeds to contact Blake who also receive his message. When Blake appears, the three watch the fight from above. They watch as the Wind Rangers and Lothor's forces beat the Dino Rangers. The Dino Rangers decide to regroup. TV STORY-Thunder Storm Part 1
Teaming up with the Dino Ranger[]
Cam, Hunter, and Blake enter the Abyss of Evil in search of their powers, when they enter in the Abyss of Evil, seeing that the Samurai Amulet is being guarded by Zurgane, Bald Loser, Blue Face and several Kelzaks. Starting a fight, Cam like the others fight against Lothor's forces, during the fight Cam easily use efficient attacks against Zurgane and some Kelzaks.
When Cam was about to grab his Samurai Morpher, Zurgane execute an attack causing an earthquake in the Abyss of Evil, Blake was falling and when Zurgane and his troops leave, Blake is helped by his brother by holding onto the stone pillars of the abyss, preventing them from falling while Cam tries to help them. Fortunately, the real Sensei Kanoi Watanabe helped Hunter, Blake, and Cam and recover their Ninja Ranger powers. There they find and keep the good Ninja Discs, for to give Shane, Tori and Dustin and escape the Abyss of Evil with Sensei.
In the Hubble Bridge, Shane, Tori, and Dustin have a duel with Dino Rangers Conner, Kira and Ethan unmorphed, when there were about to turn into their Ranger forms, Cam Hunter and Blake appear tricking and making them to believe that they joined Lothor's Army. But they trick them into taking the right Power Discs, which reverses Lothor's spell, Shane, Tori and Dustin return to the good side.
Back at the Dino Lab, the other Rangers listening on how Hunter, Blake, and Cam explain that Sensei came to their rescue just in time. All the Rangers are ready to take down Lothor. Tommy and Sensei remind them that this won't be easy and they will have to try their best.
The Dino Lab's screen shows Lothor and Mesogog's army, deducting that Lothor forms an alliance with Mesogog, all the Rangers going to the battlefield.
The Ninja Rangers and Dino Rangers morph into their Ranger forms and prepare for the battle. While the other Rangers riding their motorcycles, Cam teams up with Trent the White Dino Ranger, while both riding the White Dino ATV, attacks several armies of Kelzaks, Triptoids, Tyrannodrones, and the Wolfblades.
Unfortunately, he is attacked by the Wolfblades, but Trent goes to help him, both turned into their power up forms, Cam turned into his Super Samurai Mode and Trent into Super Dino Mode, both easily defeated several Kelzaks, Tripods, Tyrannodrones and generate a greatly slash to damage one of the Wolfblades with a slash attack.
The Rangers are celebrating their victory when Marah and Kapri show up on the scene to release the captured Ninja students. All the Power Rangers gather together and celebrate their victory over Lothor.
Afterwards, the Wind Rangers lose their powers, leaving things to the next generation. All the Rangers gather together to watch Blake win his race and the trophy. TV STORY-Thunder Storm Part 2

Notes[]
- Of all sixth or additional members in Ranger teams, Cam joined his team the earliest. He is also the earliest advisor to later become a Power Ranger.
- He is the only Ranger to have a dual-faced helmet.
- In Power Rangers: Super Legends, the Green Samurai Ranger can fight in his Super Samurai mode, but his helmet stays in its normal mode. In the DS version he appears as a non-playable summon, who plays the Lightning Riff Blaster to destroy all enemies onscreen.
- Cam is the only Ninja Storm Ranger without a retractable visor.
- Cam is the only Ninja Storm Ranger who was not intended to be a new character in Hexagon, which preceded Ninja Storm as a prototype storyline for Power Rangers' eleventh season. Had this story gone through - i.e. had Disney not acquired the rights to the Power Rangers franchise after Time Force - Cam's suit and powers would have come into the possession of Tommy Oliver, due to the resemblance between the Green Samurai suit and the original Green Ranger uniform Tommy wore.
- Green Samurai is the first Power Ranger to be themed after the swallow.
- Cam is a playable character in Power Rangers Legacy Wars.
- He shares his last name with Mia Watanabe of the Samurai Rangers, but no relationship is ever given between these two. In Issue 36 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers by Boom! Studios, the two meet but he only comments on her cooking.
- Cam was heavily seen wearing green clothing before his time as a Ranger, foreshadowing his future position.
