"All right, Ferb. Activate the Platy-Attracker 3000. If Perry's anywhere in Danville, this'll bring him home." — Phineas[src] |
The Platy-Attracker 3000 is a call transmitter built by Phineas and Ferb in hopes of attracting Perry to them.
History[]
Phineas and Ferb greet Candace in the kitchen, saddened due to being unable to find Perry, who had never missed breakfast. Thinking back to her actions at dawn, she wonders if their pet could have run away, which they disregard as implausible. Determined to locate their platypus, the boys set up a sound system in order to attract any platypi in town.
Much to their surprise, Danville is home to a handful of platypi, all of which gather in the backyard. The brothers procced to analyze the crowd of animals in comparison to Perry, eventually checking everybody off the list. Not giving up, the two remember their pet's love of music, inciting them to attempt a natural appeal rather than an artificial tracking ("Oh, There You Are, Perry").
Design[]
The Platy-Attracker 3000 is a speaker setup encompassing four vertical two-drive and three horizontal three-drive dark grey loudspeaker boxes that are suspended from the tree, and connected to a white personal computer pertaining to the boys.
Mechanics[]
The Platy-Attracker 3000 is a sound system based on animal auditory calls. Using a platypus chatter, the apparatus' programming can be activated by pressing the spacebar to send a signal throughout a determined area, luring specimen with the same noises.
Background Information[]
- The invention's name is a combination of the words "platypus", "attractor", and "tracker".
- From the shot of the platypi horde, it can be counted that at least 56 specimen are in the backyard.
- Some of the animals are shown being dismissed as not Perry. In particular:
- Its eyes are too close together, and the beak is orange instead of tangerine.
- It is too fat.
- It is too thin.
- It is too cartoonish.
- It smells like meatloaf.
- It is too blue.
- It is too angular.
- It is too French.
- It is a duck with a beaver tail taped on.
- Despite the random platypi looking identical, Phineas is capable of telling the difference between Perry and them. This is a nod to the fact that a number of pet owners know their companions well enough to distinguish the smallest details.
- One of the monotremes is stated to be cartoonish, which is a jab at the genre of the series itself. Another is said to have a French appearance, owing it to its green beret.
