The Legend of Zelda Timeline is the name given to the official chronology of The Legend of Zelda series. First revealed to the public in Hyrule Historia a book released in 2011 for the 25th anniversary of the series, the chronology was created over the years by Eiji Aonuma, the director of the Zelda series, and a lot of it was in fact revealed before Hyrule Historia, but the book itself serves as a mean to clarify the place of each game in the chronology. The timeline has since been updated with every game that released post Hyrule Historia.
History[]
While the Zelda series always had a timeline, it was kept a secret from most people, including many of the developers. Only certain producers, including Eiji Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto, knew of the timeline. This was done so that new games in the series would focus more on gameplay and not overly focus on story. Nintendo always intended for the timeline to be open for interpretation, and has made changes to it several times.
The first four games were listed in the following order:
- A Link to the Past was released as a prequel, with the characters described as predecessors to Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda.
- Link's Awakening was a direct sequel to A Link to the Past.
- The Legend of Zelda was the first game in the series.
- The Adventure of Link was a direct sequel to the first game, set some years after.
In 2001, Nintendo of America listed the first eight games in the following order:
- Ocarina of Time
- Majora's Mask
- A Link to the Past
- Oracle of Ages
- Oracle of Seasons
- The Legend of Zelda
- Part of The Adventure of Link, up until the point where Link crosses to Eastern Hyrule
- Link's Awakening
- The rest of The Adventure of Link
The games were stated to all involve the same Link, with the time discrepancy explained by saying that time passed differently in Termina, meaning Link returned hundreds of years later. This timeline is considered non-canonical.
In 2002, Wind Waker was released as a distant sequel to Ocarina of Time, but in 2006 Twilight Princess was also given that moniker. To explain this, Aonuma declared that the two games were in different timelines; Wind Waker in the Adult Link Timeline and Twilight Princess in the Child Link Timeline.
When Skyward Sword was released, it was placed at the beginning of the timeline. Shortly after the Hyrule Historia introduced the full timeline, including a third branch of Ocarina of Time where Link was defeated by Ganon. That timeline includes the first four games as well as the Oracle titles.
Following the release of A Link Between Worlds and its direct sequel Tri Force Heroes, the Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia rewrote the timeline to include these new games, placing them between the Oracle games and The Legend of Zelda. They also moved Link's Awakening to occur before the Oracle games, rather than after. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is set before the original The Legend of Zelda.
In Creating a Champion, the book dedicated to Breath of the Wild, it is stated that the events of Hyrule's early history have faded into myth. Because of this, it is not stated which timeline Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom fall into.
Unified Timeline[]
Creation of the World[]
Initially, the world was nothing but the void. Then the Three Golden Goddesses descended from the realm of the Gods and gave form to the universe. Din the Goddess of Power created and sculpted the earth with her flaming arms thus creating the land. Nayru the Goddess of Wisdom userd her infinite wisdom to create the laws of the universe bringing order to the formerly chaotic world. Farore the Goddess of Courage used her rich soul to give birth to all the life forms that would become the inhabitants of this newly created world. After the creation of the world ended, the three Golden Goddesses left behind a reflection of their great power, the Triforce, symbolizing the power of Din, the wisdom of Nayru and the courage of Farore, the relic could grant the wishes of any being with a well-balanced heart.
The Era of the Goddess Hylia[]
The Triforce was entrusted to the Goddess Hylia who was tasked to watch over the newly born world that the Golden Godesses left behind when they returned to the realm of the Gods. Under Hylia the world prospered, and the races of the world knew peace and hapiness. One day, a crack opened in the ground and Demons started to pour out of it, they were led by the Demon King Demise, an timeless entity said to be the source of all evil, who sought to make the Triforce its own.
The Demonic army slaughtered the peaceful inhabitants of the world, and it was not long before Hylia herself enlisted most of the capable warriors in her army and striked back. It is also during this time that a powerful clan of magic users known as the Sheikah sworn to become the Goddess' closest protectors. Since the Humans were almost decimated by the attacks of Demise's army, Hylia entrusted them with the Triforce and the Goddess Sword, a sword meant to be found by a chosen one when the time would be right, before sending them in the sky on a floating island. Later this island would be named Skyloft. The Goddess and the remaining inhabitants of the surface then faced Demise in an all out war and the Demon King was sealed away. Hylia was gravely injured in her battle with Demise and decided to reincarnate as a human and be close to the chosen one when Demise would inevitably break the seal. She also did it because gods could not wield the Triforce.
The Era of the Sky[]
The island sent into the sky by the Goddess Hylia would eventually lose knowledge of the surface as time passed and a cloud barrier created by the Goddess prevented them to return to the surface.
Eventually, the chosen one, a man known as Link, was born in Skyloft. Hylia was also reborn as Zelda around the same time. They were both unaware of their real nature and grew up together as childhood friends until Zelda is taken to the surface by Demon Lord Ghirahim in an attempt to revive Demise. Link is woken up by a voice in the night following Zelda's disappearance. The voice reveal itself to be Fi, the spirit of the Goddess Sword created by Hylia to serves as the guide of the chosen one, Fi reveals to Link that he is the chosen one and open the way to the surface to him revealing to him that finding Zelda is a part of his destiny as the hero.
Ghirahim tries to capture Zelda multiple times, but he always runs into Link and loose her track while trying to get rid of Link. Meanwhile, Zelda is helped on her journey by Impa, a member of the Sheikah tribe who guide her to the sources where Zelda purify her body and regain the memories she had when she was the Goddess Hylia. The two then try to escape to the past by using a Gate of Time but they are stopped by Ghirahim who is himself stopped by Link, which give enough time to the two women to escape and destroy the gate behind them.
The old lady in the Sealed Grounds tells Link that he must purify the Goddess Sword if he wants to open the remaining Gate of Time and reach Zelda. After purifying the Goddess Sword, it turns into the Master Sword and grant Link the access to the Gate of Time. Once Link arrives in the past, he learns that Zelda is the reincarnation of Hylia and that she must remain into a deep sleep to prevent Demise's seal from breaking. Link is then sent after the Triforce with the goal to use its incredible power to destroy Demise.
As soon as Link uses the Triforce to destroy Demise, Zelda awakens but as they celebrate the destruction of the Demon King, Ghirahim arrives and capture Zelda before bringing her to the past where he will sacrifice her to bring Demise back. Ghirahim starts the ritual and reveal to Link that he is in fact the spirit of Demise's sword in the same way Fi is the spirit of the Master Sword. Link defeat Ghirahim one last time but the ritual was complete, and Demise comes back by stealing Zelda's soul. Demise then defy Link in a duel to celebrate his return, Link manage to overpower the demon but in his last breath, Demise created a curse that would force his hatred to come back to face Link who would now reincarnate eternally and the descendants of the Goddess in a cycle without end.
The Master Sword is then put on a pedestal where Fi enters a deep slumber after saying to Link that they will probably meet again in another life. The Era of the Sky ended soon after as the inhabitants of the sky started to return to the surface following the defeat of Demise.
The Era of Chaos[]
The Creation of the the Kingdom of Hyrule[]
The land now inhabited by the humans would soon be known as Hyrule. Those who were living in ancient times under the protection of the Goddess Hylia became known as the Hylians and despite their human appearance, they gained more affinity toward magic and were even believed to be able to hear the voices of the Gods thanks to their pointed ears.
The Interloper War[]
Hyrule knew many years of peace but the existence of the Triforce that was sealed in the Sacred Realm after its use in the final battle against Demise became known to everyone. Many people wanted to get the power of the Gods for themselves, and chaos soon engulfed the land. The Interlopers raise to power with their dark magic combined in an artifact of great power known as the Fused Shadow. They took over the kingdom and ruled with an iron fist over the land, exterminating everyone who opposed them. It is then that the Golden Goddesses intervened by sending down the Light Spirits to negate the dark power of the Interlopers who were left powerless and eventually exiled to a dimension of pure darkness known as the Twilight Realm by the gods. In millenia to come they evolved into a peaceful tribe in the realm called Twili.
The Sealing of the Sacred Realm[]
In order to prevent further conflict Rauru, the Sage of Light, constructed the Temple of Time over the only entrance to the Sacred Realm, used the Master Sword as a seal since it could only be removed by a hero choosen by the Goddesses and closed the chamber of the Master Sword behind the Door of Time, which can only be opened by using the Ocarina of Time and the Spiritual Stones. The Ocarina of Time was given to the descendants of the original Zelda and the stones were given to the leaders of the Kokiris, the Zoras and the Gorons, three races that had a friendly relationship with Hylians since their return in Hyrule. Rauru then built the Temple of Light inside the Sacred Realm and sealed himself in it to protect the Triforce.
The Era of Prosperity[]
Those who were the descendants of the reincarnated Hylia eventually founded the Knigdom of Hyrule and adopted the symbol of the four Goddesses as their crest. Hyrule Castle was build next to the Temple of Time to give another layer of protection to the entrance of the Sacred Realm. Since the royal family of Hyrule were direct descendants of Hylia, they were often born with a divine power. Most of the queens of Hyrule were then named Zelda in honor to the reincarnation of Hylia.
The Force Era[]
The Hero of Men[]
The Era of Prosperity ended after many years when monsters suddenly came back in the land and almost entirely destroyed the kingdom that had never faced the forces of darkness in all of its history. As everything seemed lost, the Spirit of the Hero manifested in a man refered to as the "Hero of Men". The Picori then appeared from the sky and gave the Hero of Men the Picori Blade and the magical Light Force. Using these two gifts, the Hero managed to repel the dark beasts and restored order to the land of Hyrule.
The Hero then sealed the darkness into the Bound Chest to prevent it from destroying the kingdom in the future. Peace returned and the Light Force was embodied within the princess of Hyrule to prevent its misuse, shining forth upon the lands within its ruler. The Picori then started to live along with the Hylians but most Hylians were not able to see them, and they became a legend.
The Hero of the Four Sword[]
Eventually, Darkness was fated to return and as such, the Spirit of the Hero manifested once again in a young boy. Years later, a Picori named Vaati stole a magical cap created by his master Ezlo and became corrupted by the darkness in his heart. Vaati cursed his master and left the Picori world to plot his conquest of Hyrule. One year, the whole kingdom celebrated the 100th anniversary of when the Picori last came to the help of Hyrule. King Daltus was hosting a tournament to celebrate the Hero of Men who defeated darkness years ago. Vaati won the tournament and was rewarded with the chance to see the Bound Chest. Vaati showed his true colors by taking out the guards before destroying the Picori Blade, which released the darkness on the land. Vaati was after the Light Force and was disapointed that it wasn't what was sealed in the chest. He then noticed that the power of Zelda protected her from the wave of darkness that knocked out everyone around the chest and turn her into stone, believing that the power of her bloodline could become a threat to his plans.
King Daltus asked Link to seek out the Picori and ask them to reforge the sacred blade as it is the only way to dispel the curse Vaati put on Zelda. Traveling to the Minish Woods Link met the cursed Ezlo, who then help him to find the Picori. Link met with the elder of the Minish Village, who told him that in order to reforge the sacred Picori sword he would require the power of the Four Elements: earth, fire, water, and wind. As he gather the elements, the Picori Blade is reforged into the White Sword and brought to the Elemental Sanctuary hidden within the courtyard of Hyrule Castle, which give it some of the power the legendary blade had.
Meanwhile, Vaati had brainwashed King Daltus and taken control of Hyrule Castle. Vaati briefly confront Link and Ezelo reveal tohim the origin of Vaati's power and how he is responsible for the tragedy that befall the kingdom. Link eventually manage to gather the remaining elements and fully reforge the Picori Blade, which becomes the Four Sword as a result. Vaati then discover that the Light Force was what protected Zelda from the darkness and not the power of her bloodline. Since he has complete control over Hyrule Castle, he easily has access to Zelda and prepare to to extract the Light Force from her body, which would also kill her as a result.
Link arrives as Vaati is finishing the ritual, having absorbed most of the Light Force, Vaati is warped into a tall humanoid with great power. Link manage to defeat him, which warp Vaati into an even more monstruous form that is also defeated by Link. He then uses the Four Sword's evil-banishing power to restore Princess Zelda to her original self, but the Castle soon start to crumble and as Link, Zelda and Ezlo are trying to hide in the Elemental Sanctuary, Vaati reveal that he survived and attack Link one last time. Now that Vaati is presumed dead, Zelda can retrieve the magical hat and use it to restore the Kingdom to its previous state. Ezlo say his final goodbye to both Link and Zelda before going through the door leading to the world of the Minish, which close soon after as the 100 year anniversary of its original opening is now over.
The Return of the Wind Mage[]
Peace returned to the kingdom for several years until Vaati still a monstruous creature reveal himself to be alive and as such, another reincarnation of the Hero rises to fight against the former Picori who now refer to himself as the Great Sorcerer of the Wind after having taken over the Palace of Winds. Still driven by his lust for power, he started to kidnap beautiful girls in hope to find one that would become his queen once Hyrule would be under his rule. The soldiers of Hyrule were unable to defeat Vaati until one day, the Hero with the legendary Four Sword at his side appeared and used the sword to divide himself in four like the Hero who forged the Four Sword did to defeat Vaati in the past. Vaati was ultimately sealed inside the Four Sword and peace returned to the kingdom once more.
The Restoration of the Four Sword's Seal[]
After the defeat of Vaati, the royal family watched over the seal for generations until it started to weaken one dat. Zelda started to head to the Four Sword Shrine as soon as she felt the weakening of the seal. She was accompanied with Link who was once again a reincarnation of the Hero of old. The duo only arrives too late as Vaati caught them by surprise and grab Zelda before running away, as he was still in the mindset of finding his queen and the princess caught his eyes. Fairies instruct Link to pick up the Four Sword, which split the Hero into four like it did two time in the past. The four Link earns the respect of the Great Fairies by proving that he is indeed the Hero, which makes them open a path to the Palace of Winds where Link would defeat Vaati once more. Vaati was sealed once again in the Four Sword and the Royal Family watch over the seal with more zeal than the last time to prevent the Wind Mage to get out.
The Era of the Hero of Time[]
Hyrulean Civil War[]
After Vaati's imprisonment, the kingdom entered another era of peace but during this peace, tension grew between the different races of Hyrule until the whole kingdom was englufed in a brutal civil war. A man named Ganondorf was born during that time and due to him being the only male Gerudo born in 100 years, he became the king of his people. Ganondorf was in fact the incarnation of Demise's hatred that was fated to plague Hyrule's history after the defeat of Demise at the hands of the first Link. During the War, a Hylian Woman fled the fires of war and entered the Kokiri Forest, giving her newborn baby, to the Great Deku Tree. This baby was in fact the new reincarnation of the Hero and he would be raised as a Kokiri for the 12 first years of his life. The king of Hyrule would eventually unify all the races under his rule and end the war, while Ganondorf feigned to be on the side of the King and waited for an opportunity to take over the land.
The Boy Followed by a Fairy[]
As the Hero, the young Link had numerous nightmares that showed him the ruler of the Gerudo standing in front of him during a storm. One day, the Great Deku Tree sent Navi to awake Link and bring him before him. The Great Deku Tree then reveal to Link that his nightmare showed him a man that has actually cursed him to obtain one of the spiritual stone and that the peace of the kingdom would be broken if Ganondorf was unstoped. Link managed to defeat Gohma who was the monster Ganondorf sent to hurt the Great Deku Tree, but the great spirit was already mortally wounded and die soon after telling Link to search for Princess Zelda while entrusting him with the Kokiri Emerald.
Zelda told him that she believed that Ganondorf was trying to obtain the Triforce, which was sealed inside the sacred realm since the Era of Chaos. Link is sent to get the two remaining spiritual stones from the Zoras and the Gorons while defeating the monster the Gerudo sent to their land in hope of forcing them to give the stones to him. While Link was away, Ganondorf managed to kill the king and take over Hyrule Castle, Zelda manages to escape with the help of Impa a Sheikah who served as the caretaker of the princess. As she flew, Zelda threw the Ocarina of Time in the moat surrounding Hyrule Castle Town as it was the last thing that prevented Link from obtaining the Master Sword. Ganondorf knew of this and confronted Link before making him believe that he was going after the princess when in reality he was waiting for Link to open the gate to the sacred Realm for him. This event mark the end of the unified timeline and from here, three different timeline branch out.
Adult Timeline[]
The Era of the Hero of Time[]
Link is sealed inside the Sacred Realm by the Master Sword due to his lack of maturity. Ganondorf take advantage of the stasis Link is to enter the Sacred Realm, kill five of the seven sages leaving Rauru alone in the Temple of Light. Ganondorf is the first to reach the Triforce since it was sealed in the Sacred Realm during the Era of Chaos but due to his lack of balance, the Triforce split into three as soon as he touches it and Ganondorf inherit the Triforce of Power thus becoming Din's chosen hero. For the next 7 years, Ganondorf rule over Hyrule as an absolute King and make sure to control all of the Sage Temples by corrupting most of the Sacred Realm to avoid the awakening of new sages that could get in his way. Unable to find Zelda who inherited the Triforce of Wisdom and unable to reach Link who inherited the Triforce of Courage, Ganondorf decide to wait for the return of the Hero who could eventually lead him to Zelda and the whole Triforce as a result.
Link awakens after 7 years and following Rauru's and Sheik's instructions, he manage to free the Temples from Ganondorf's influence and awakens Saria as the Forest Sage, Darunia as the Fire Sage, Princess Ruto as the Water Sage, Impa as the Shadow Sage and Nabooru as the Spirit Sage. Rauru then tell him to return to the Temple of Time where Sheik reveal himself to be Princess Zelda, the seventh sage and holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Ganondorf who has been watching Link since his awakening take this opportunity to capture Zelda with his magic With the Sages help, Link fought his way to the top of Ganon's Castle, clearing the path to Ganondorf for the final showdown between the Hero of Time and the King of Evil. After being defeated, Ganondorf uses his powers as the reincarnation of Demise's hatred to turn into the Demon King Ganon himself but thanks to the power of the Master Sword and the Seven Sages, Ganondorf is sealed inside the Sacred Realm, still with his piece of the Triforce, and swear to take revenge on the Hero and the Royal Family once the seal breaks. Zelda then uses her powers to send Link back in time just before his first meeting with Zelda, which cause a split in the Timeline and left the future without a Hero.
The Era without a Hero[]
Many years after the Hero of Time was sent back to his own timeline, the seal of the seven sages began to weaken and eventually, the Demon King was released from his prison. Ganondorf then ravaged Hyrule to make good on his threat toward the descendants of the sages. The people of Hyrule believed that the Hero of Time would come back to save them, but it never happened and they could do nothing else other than pray. The Gods answered their prayers by instructing those chosen to take refuge on the mountaintops before they flooded the land, trapping Ganon and his army in time underneath the Great Sea.
The people of Hyrule recreated their civilizations on the various islands scattered at the surface of the Great Sea. Time passed and the kingdom of Hyrule was completely forgoten except for a tradition on Outset Island that had young boys wear the green garb of the Hero of Time for one day on their 12th birthdays without knowing what the meaning behind the tradition was.
The Era of the Great Sea[]
Ganondorf managed to break free from the Gods' seal and eventually reached the surface where he preventively killed the two sages that prayed for the power of the Master Sword, stopping the sword's power to repel evil. He then took over the Forsaken Fortress and used it as a base of opperation for his army of monsters. Ganondorf was still trying to get the complete the Triforce and since he was in possession of the Triforce of Power, he knew that two other individuals had the remaining pieces. Ganondorf figured out that the Royal Family would have survived the flood and knowing that their descendants would be Hylians, he started to abduct girls in hope of finding the new Princess Zelda who would naturally have the Triforce of Wisdom with her.
In response to his return, the Gods brought back King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule from the afterlife to search for the new Hero and guide him as The King of Red Lions. One day Aryll, the sister of the new hero, was mistaken for the pirate captain Tetra and abducted by the Helmaroc King, a giant bird tasked to kidnap every Hylian girl he comes across by Ganondorf. Link tries to save his sister but fail and is thrown into the Great Sea by the Helmaroc King. Link is rescued by the King of Red Lions who inform him that the one giving order to the Helmaroc King is the Demon King himself and that if Link wants to save his sister, he must prove himself as the new hero and obtain the Master Sword. Link departs to a great journey across the Great Sea where he rescues the Rito, a tribe that evolved from the Zoras, and the Koroks, a tribe that evolved from the Kokiri, from Ganondorf's monsters. The tribes rewarded him with two of the three Goddess Pearls necessary to reach the Master Sword. He then obtained the last one from Lord Jabu-Jabu who had kept it while waiting for the hero.
Link then used the three Goddess Pearls to rise the Tower of the Gods from the bottom of the sea and confronted Gohdan who served as the final trial between the Hero and the divine sword. The defeat of Gohdan allowed Link to open a gateway toward the bottom of the sea where the ancient kingdom of Hyrule was trapped in a bubble existing outside of time. Inside Hyrule Castle, Link found the Master Sword and was deemed worthy to remove it from its pedestal, time started to flow once again in the time bubble as the Master Sword was the seal that prevented the monsters to ravage the old world. Link then came back at the surface of the Great Sea where he saved his sister, killed the Helmaroc King and confronted Ganondorf only to discover that the Master Sword was stripped down of its powers since the death of the sages. Ganondorf easily defeated Link and as he was preparing to kill him, Tetra intervened and distracted Ganondorf until his piece of the Triforce reacted to her and he realised that she was Zelda. Soon after, they were both saved by Ritos while Ganondorf and his base were set on fire by Valoo, the great spirit of the Rito that Link helped to obtain the first of the Goddess Pearls.
Having no other choice, the King of Red Lions revealed himself as the King of Hyrule to Link and Tetra and told them that Tetra was his descendant as well as the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Link then searched for the new Sages of Earth and Wind to find out what happened to the Master Sword, he was contacted by the spirits of Laruto and Fado who revealed to him that they were killed by Ganondorf, and that Link needs to find their descendants to replace them. Link awakened Medli as the Sage of Earth and Makar as the Sage of Wind. Their prayers restored the power of the Master Sword and Link was informed that to trully become the Hero of Wind, he needed to find the Triforce of Courage, which had been broken in eight when the Hero of Time returned to his Timeline. Armed with both the Triforce and the Master Sword, Link returned to Hyrule and confronted Ganondorf at the top of his tower after learning that he managed to capture Tetra.
Ganondorf managed to unite the three pieces of the Triforce after taking Link by surprise and knocking the Master Sword out of his hands, finally fulfilling the goal he had since he ascended to the Gerudo throne. However, Daphnes appeared before him and touched the Triforce first, which granted him a wish instead of Ganondorf. The King wished for the definitive end of Hyrule who imediatly started to flood as the protection bubble created by Gods broke. Blinded by rage, Ganondorf challenged Link and Zelda in a final battle that would close the final chapter of Hyrule's history. Ganondorf is defeated and with the Master Sword lodget in his head, the Demon King is turned into stone and sealed at the bottom of the sea where no one would be able to break the seal for a long time. Daphnes then decided to disappear with his kingdom as he would never be able to move on from the nostalgia he felt for his time as king of Hyrule. Zelda and Link promised him to search for new lands and eventually recreate a new kingdom as a tribute for their ancestors.
The Era of the Great Voyage[]
After defeating Ganondorf, Link and Tetra departed on a new voyage with the goal to eventually find land and fulfill their promise to the King of Hyrule. They reached the waters ruled by the Ocean King to investigate rumors about a mysterious Ghost Ship which had terrorized the ocean. They eeventually found the Ghost Ship and Tetra jumped aboard and was taken away, Link tried to rescue her but fell in the ocean only to wake up on Mercay Island and meet Ciela the fairy and her "grandfather," Oshus.
Link met a sea captain named Linebeck who let him use his ship. After searching for clues in the Temple of the Ocean King with the help of the Phantom Hourglass, Link rescued the Spirits of Power and Wisdom, and discovered that Ciela was the Spirit of Courage. Link then boarded the Ghost Ship in order to save Tetra and discovered that she had be turned to stone. Oshus revealed himself to be the Ocean King and told Link that an evil creature named Bellum had drained her life force and forced the Ocean King to take this form after absorbing most of his power. He then affirmed that the only thing which could defeat Bellum was the Phantom Sword.
Link then journeyed through the ocean to find a blacksmith that could forge the blade of the Phantom Sword and the three Pure Metals needed for its creation. The hilt of the sword was then created by Oshus by fusing the blade with the Phantom Hourglass giving it the power to stop time briefly. Now in possession of the Phantom Sword, Link ventured deep inside the Temple of the Ocean King where Bellum was residing. Link managed to defeat Bellum, but the monster feigned its death and came back as soon as Tetra was freed from the curse to capture her. After destroying the Ghost Ship that Bellum was using as a mean to fight against Linebec's ship, Bellum take over Linebeck's body and confronts Link one last time. Bellum is defeated and Linebecj is freed from its influence allowing the Ocean King to return to his original form. The Ocean King then returned Link and Tetra to their world, where only ten minutes had passed since they left. Link was not sure if the entire adventure had been a dream until he saw that he carried the empty Phantom Hourglass and saw Linebeck sailing off into the distance.
The Era of Hyrule's Rebirth[]
After their long travel, Tetra's pirates eventually landed on a new continent, where the Tower of Spirits stood tall over the land. She created a new kingdom named New Hyrule in memory of the land of their ancestor and fulfil the last wish of the King of Hyrule. The kingdom was built around the legendary Spirit Tracks that were originally created by the Spirits of Good to seal the spirit of the Demon King Malladus after their ancient battle. These tracks were used by the newly arrived Hylians to navigate across the land by using trains based on the old Spirit Train, a relic left in the hands of the Lokomos by the Spirits of Good to help the choosen hero in his eventual battle against Maladus.
100 Years after, Chancellor Cole, a demon disguising himself as the Chancellor of the Kingdom of New Hyrule to get more power over the land and aim to revive the Demon King. With the help of Bryne, a Lokomo traitor, Cole manages to make the Spirit Tracks disappear by using his influence to corrupt the four temples that are the source of the Spirit Tracks. When Zelda tries to sneak out of her castle with the help of the new Link and Alfonzo to investigate the disappearance of the Spirit Tracks since she suspects Cole of being responsible behind all this, Cole reveal himself as a Demon and separate Zelda's spirit from her body after destroying the Tower of Spirits to break the last protection of the seal.
Cole plans to use her body as a vessel for the spirit of the Demon King. With the help of Anjean, a Lokomo sage, Zelda's spirit and Link uses the Spirit Train to restore the Spirit Tracks by cleansing the four Temple. They eventually defeat Bryne who is betrayed by Malladus soon after his return. Link then confronts Malladus with the help of Zelda and the Lokomo sages, Malladus is forced out of Zelda's body and possesses Cole as a last resort, throwing away his potential new incarnation to have a chance of destroying the world. The Demon king is eventually defeated for good and the Lokomos leave the new Kingdom to its new inhabitants and ascent to the realm of their masters now that the threat of Malladus is gone.
Child timeline[]
The Era of the Hero of Time[]
Link is returned to his time by Zelda and arrive just before his first encounter with Zelda. Link is still in possession of the Triforce of Courage, which cause the separation of the Triforce at his return between the two other chosen ones. This serves as a proof of Link's accusation toward Ganondorf who is captured by the King's forces and sent to the Arbiter's Grounds where he is supposed to be executed.
The Hero's Departure[]
After warning the royal family, Link and Zelda spend a short amount of time together during which Zelda teaches Link the Song of Time, before handing him over the Ocarina of Time, mentioning that he should play that melody if something were to happen to him so that the Goddess of Time will come to his aid. Link then heads to the Lon Lon Ranch, where he borrows Epona before going on a new quest to find Navi who left him soon after his return to his timeline.
During his search for Navi, Link was ambushed by Skull Kid and his fairy companions, Tatl and Tael. They knock him out and Skull Kid steals both the Ocarina of Time and Epona, link wake up and follow him soon after. Link eventually catch up with Skull kid and is turned into a Deku Scrub by the imp. Soon after, Link arrive at a parallel universe named Termina where he encounters the Happy Mask Salesman that explain to him that the dark powers Skull Kid possess comes from the Majora's Mask, an accursed mask that was used by an ancient tribe in all sort of horible rituals. The Happy Mask Salesman tells Link that he can revert him back to his original appearance if he manage to retrieve the mask that Skull Kid stole him.
Link manage to reach the top of the Clock Tower where Skull Kid is waiting for him after 3 days. There he reveals that he used the power of the mask to make the Moon fall on Termina and end the world. Link is unable to stop him and as Termina is nearing its end, Link retrieve the Ocarina of Time and use the Song of Time to harness the power of the Goddess of Time and travel back in time to the dawn of the first day of his arrival to Termina after learning from Tael that something able to counter Skull Kid's dark power is supposed to be found in four temple located at the four cardinal points of Termina.
Link goes back to the Happy Mask Salesman who teach him the Song of Healing before getting mad at Link for failing to recover the mask and tell him what matter of horrible power the mask possesses and how he must get it back by using the song he teached him. Link then goes to the four cardinal points and help the people found there to get access to the four temples. After cleansing the temples of the evil that Skull Kid unleashed on them, Link discover that the monsters that plagued the four temples were corrupted forms of the Four Giants, the guardian deities of Termina. With the help of the Four Giant, Link manage to physically stop the moon in its track. The Majora's Mask is revealed to have its own will and to have been possessing Skull Kid the whole time, the mask then fly on the Moon to force it to fall despide the Four Giants. Link follow the Mask to the Moon and defeat him for good, purging the evil soul from the mask before giving it back to the Happy Mask Salesman and departing for Hyrule as the Carnival of Time finally started on the dawn of the fourth day.
Ganondorf's Execution and the heritage of the Hero of Time[]
While Link was in Termina, the Sages have decided to execute Ganondorf in the Arbiter's Grounds. They stab him in the stomach with the Sword of the Six Sages however, they were not aware that Ganondorf was in possession of the Triforce of Power due to Link's time travels since no one is supposed to have touched it in this timeline.
Ganondorf uses his powers to break free from his chains while still having the Sword of the Six Sages lodged in his stomach and murder the Sage of Water before he is sent to the Twilight Realm alongside the sword by the remaining Sages using the Mirror of Twilight. The Twilight Realm is an alternate dimension created by the Goddess to serves as a prison where war criminals used to be sent to via the Mirror, in this place, normal creatures are turned into ghosts. Even if the Mirror stopped to be used by the Sages until Ganondorf's execution, the criminals that were sent into the Twilight Realm slowly adapted and became a species known as the Twili overtime. These Twili created a kingdom that had existed for generations at this point and were known for their hatred of the light and their powerful magic inherited from their ancestors who tried to use dark magic to take over Hyrule and obtain the Triforce.
When Ganondorf arrived in the Twilight Realm, he lost his physical form but instead of becoming a regular ghost, his divine origins turned him into a pure etherial manifestation of light. Soon after his banishment, Ganondorf stumbled upon Zant who was denied the throne of the Twili in favor of Midna. Zant witnessed Ganondorf's divine appearance and started to think of him as a God, Ganondorf promised him godly powers in exchange of using him as a host to regain a physical body and escape the Twilight Realm.
Meanwhile, The Hero of Time came back to Hyrule and eventually had descendants. Link himself would reincarnate as one of his own descendants. Despite him passing down the Spirit of the Hero, the Hero of Time was unable to rest after his death knowing that no one except the Royal Family would know what he had accomplished and came back as a ghost now calling himself the Hero's Shade and with the only goal of passing down his fighting technics to the next incarnation of the Hero.
The Era of Twilight[]
The Usurper King's invasion of the Light World[]
Under the influence of Ganondorf, Zant used his newfound dark powers to curse Midna into becoming some sort of imp. He then takes over the Twilight Realm and turn almost all of the Twili into the monstrous Twilit Messengers. With his new army, he storms the Kingdom of Hyrule and defeat them incredibly easily as they were not prepared for such a war. The current Princess Zelda surrenders and Zant becomes the new ruler of Hyrule and start to steal the light of the Light Spirits, deities tasked by the Goddess with holding the light of the universe inside their being, effectively plunging the world of light into the darkness of the Twilight.
A young man from Ordon Village known to be a descendant of the Hero of Time is revealed as the new Hero after being exposed to the influence of the twilight and turned into a wolf instead of turning into a spirit. He is eventually captured by Zant's army and helped by Midna and the two-start searching for the Fused Shadow, which are a manifestation of the dark magic that the ancestor of the Twili used to try to conquer Hyrule during the Interlopper War. After managing to gather them, the two are ambushed by Zant who uses the power granted to him by Ganondorf to permanently turn link into a wolf and wound Midna by exposing her to the light of the Light Spirits.
Midna and Link sought the aid of Princess Zelda, who gave up her soul so that Midna could live and told Link to seek out the Master Sword in the Sacred Grove. After being cured from Ganondorf's curse by the Master sword, link heads to the Arbiter's Grounds in hope of finding the Mirror of Twilight and reach Zant. There they discover that the Mirror was fragmented by Zant to prevent them from entering the Twilight Realm. They are informed about Ganondorf's story by the remaining Sages and learn how Zant was able to become so powerful and are tasked with finding the remaining pieces of the Mirror of Twilight. During his travels, Link encounters the Hero's Shade who teach him his own sword technics before revealing to Link that he is the ghost of his ancestor, the Hero of Time, and can finally rest in peace knowing that his legacy will be remembered.
Midna and Link gathered the pieces of the Mirror and entered the Twilight Realm, and Link defeated Zant in single combat. Zant was not fazed, however, boasting that his god Ganondorf would simply revive him. In her fury, Midna reclaimed the Fused Shadow and used its power to destroy Zant completely. The duo then headed toward the top of Hyrule Castle to face the King of Darkness who was actually in possession of Zelda's body. He actually possesses it and force Link to face her into combat before the power of the Fused Shadow force him out of her body, he then turn into Ganon itself and face Link. After Ganon's defeat, he turned into his spirit form and Midna engaged in battle with him after transporting Link and Zelda to Hyrule Field. Their battle destroys the castle, but the Fused Shadows are not enoufgh to defeat Ganondorf who emerge victorious and challenge Link in a horse battle before engaging in sword combat. Link stabs Ganondorf through the chest with the Master Sword and Zant who was sharing his lifeforce with Ganondorf deal the final blow to Ganondorf by symbolically snapping his own neck and severing the only connection that kept Ganondorf alive. Midna was restored to her original form by the Light Spirits and leave for the Twilight Realm, shattering the Mirror of Twilight behind her realising that the two realms must be kept apart in order to have lasting peace.
The Era of Shadow[]
Hundreds of years after Ganondorf's death, the Hyruleans and the Gerudo reconciled, and peace lasted for a while. A new Ganondorf was born amongst them eventually as it was fated to happen thanks to Demise's curse. This Ganondorf followed in the footsteps of his previous incarnation and violated the taboo of the Gerudo on the ancient Pyramid and stole the Trident of power found here to become the new King of Darkness. He then stole the Dark Mirror from the Temple of Darkness who served as a prison to an ancient tribe that invaded Hyrule long ago. Ganondorf used its ability to reflect the evil heart of its bearer, which gave birth to demonic creatures known as Shadow Links due to Ganondorf's demonic nature.
Ganondorf then set out to free Vaati from his prison and use him as a diversion in his conquest of Hyrule. Ganondorf now transformed into Ganon sent a Shadow Link to scatter the maidens holding Vaati's seal in place and free the Wind Mage. Meanwhile, the clouds of darkness covering the land made Zelda uneasy, so she gathered the six shrine maidens to renew the seal upon Vaati. At that moment, Shadow Link appeared and scattered the maidens with his powers. Link was forced to draw the sword from its pedestal, splitting into four just as in ancient times. However, this released Vaati from his prison to cause chaos. Ganon then used Shadow Link to open rifts to the Dark World and pull the four Knights of Hyrule into his sway and transform them into Stalfos.
The four Links rescued the maidens and discovered that the one behind the invasion of Hyrule was in fact Ganon not Vaati. They then obtained the four jewels from the Knights and made their way to the Tower of Winds, where they battled Vaati and Ganon himself. Vaati was finally destroyed and Ganon was sealed in the Four Sword in his place.
Fallen Hero Timeline[]
The Era of the Hero of Time[]
In the Fallen Hero Timeline, the Hero of Time is defeated by Ganon in the final battle. Ganon obtains the two missing pieces of the Triforce and becomes extremely powerful. He is immediately sealed in the Sacred Realm alongside the Triforce by the Seven Sages as a last ditch effor to get rid of him. The Sacred Realm is corrupted by Ganon's dark heart and becomes the Dark World.
The Imprisoning War[]
The entrance to the Sacred Realm now transformed into a world corrupted by Ganon's influence is eventually re-opened after some time. Rumors surrounding the Triforce being located in the Sacred Realm eventually spreads to Hyrule. People started to fight eachother for the chance to be granted a wish by the Triforce and many departed for the Sacred Realm but when they got there, they were greeted by the Dark World, which turned them into monsters under Ganon's command. Soon Ganon who still had the might of the full Triforce on his side had an army of monsters that he immediatly unleashed on Hyrule. The king of Hyrule then commanded the Seven Sages to use their powers to seal the entrance like they did in the past. While they were performing the ritual, they were defended by the Knights of Hyrule who protected them from the assault of Ganon's army. The entrance of the Dark World was once again sealed at the price of the lives of almost the entirety of the Knights of Hyrule.
The Era of Light and Dark[]
A Link to the Past[]
After the sealing of the Dark World, Hyrule was at peace for many years until a series of unspecified misfortunes started happening across the land. The king at the time offered a reward to anyone who could stop them. It is then that Agahnim, Ganon's alter ego, took the opportunity to solves the king's problems with his unheard-of dark magic. For his service, the dark mage was appointed as chief advisor and priest at Hyrule Castle. This allowed Ganon to brainwash the soldiers of the Kingdom and dispose of the king through Agahnim, which gave him total control over the kingdom.
Agahnim then gathered the six Maidens descended from the sages and sent them to the Dark World to remove the seal. The only missing Maiden remaining was Princess Zelda, which was already in Hyrule Castle's dungeons. Zelda uses her powers to telepathically contact Link and his uncle, which were two of the remaining descendants of the Knights of Hyrule. Link awoke in the middle of the night to find his uncle leaving the house armed with a sword and shield. Despite his uncle's warnings, Link followed the telepathic call to the castle dungeon, where he found his uncle dying.
Link takes the sword and shield from his uncle and manage to save Zelda and escape the castle with her. Zelda is left in the care of the priest from the Sanctuary and Link heads to Kakariko Village to meet with Sahasrahla, another descendant of the sages. When Link arrives to Kakariko, he discovers from his grandson that Sahasrahla is hiding near the Eastern Palace to escape Agahnim who was gathering the descendants of the Sages. When Link meets the old man, he is told to seek out the three Pendants of Virtue in order to discover the Master Sword hidden deep within the Lost Woods.
After obtaining the legensary blade, Link learn from Sahasrahla that Zelda was found and captured by Agahnim. Link heads to Hyrule Castle in time to see the dark mage send Zelda to the Dark World, which destroyed the seal. Link defeated Agahnim but the wizard used his magic to pull Link into the Dark World. There Link was transformed into a pink bunny instead of a monster due to the purity of his heart. Thanks to the Moon Pearl, Link was able to stay in his Hylian form and thanks to the Magic Mirror he was able to switch between the two worlds.
Link soon learned that the Maidens and Zelda were trapped into the various palaces that were found across the Dark World. After freeing them he learned that Agahnim was merely Ganon's pawn and after defeating the dark wizard for good atop Ganon's Tower, he witnessed the Dark Beast emerging from Agahnim's body since the wizard was nothing more than his alter ego. Ganon fled to the Pyramid of Power with Link in hot pursuit. The two fought inside the Pyramid for the control of the Triforce and Link emerged victorious, finally destroying the King of Evil. Link then wished for the restoration of the Kingdom which brought back to life those who fell against Ganon including the King and Link's uncle. Link then entrusted the Triforce to the royal family and decided to embark on a journey across the sea in preparation for facing potential threats to the Kingdom's safety.
Link's Awakening[]
As he was traveling across the sea on his boat, Link was caught in a storm and eventually his boat was hit by lightning. Link was washed up on the shores of Koholint Island. He was rescued by Marin, a young woman who bore a striking resemblance to Princess Zelda. After retrieving his lost sword and shield, Link started to recieve advice from a mysterious Owl who told him that the only way to leave the island was to wake the Wind Fish with the Instrument of the Sirens guarded by ferocious creatures known as the Nightmares at the bottom of various temples scattered across the whole island. After encountering serious resistance from the Nightmares who openly questioned Link's motives, he finds an ancient stone gravure that reveal to him that the whole island is just part of the Wind Fish's dream and that in order to escape the island he would need to end the dream alongside the existence of every single one of its inhabitants.
Link still decide that he has to escape the dream and gather the final Instruments of the Sirens despite heavy resistance from the remaining Nightmares. Link eventually reach the Wind Fish's Egg located atop Mt. Tamaranch and plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish on the Instruments to open it. Inside, Link fights Shadow Nightmare, the last line of defence between Link and the Wind Fish. Shadow Nightmare claims that they trapped the Wind Fish into an eternal sleep to rule over the dream for all of eternity. Link defeats the last Nightmare who laments about the inevitable end of their world before disapearing. Link then meets the Owl for the last time, the Owl reveal himself as the part of the Wind Fish's spirit that watch over his dreams and thank Link for finally freeing him from the dream before fading and letting his place to the Wind Fish himself. Link plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish one last time and the island disappear as both Link and the Wind Fish awakens.
Link finds himself on the wreckage of his boats at the middle of the sea. Link withness the Wind Fish flying above his head and a seagull, which is a reincarnation of Marin following the wish to become a seagull and leave Koholint she made to the Wind Fish just before Link went to fight Shadow Nightmare.
The Trial of the Triforce[]
After the defeat of Ganon at the hands of Link, his surrogate mothers, the two Gerudo witches Koume and Kotake plotted to revive him. To bring him back they needed three flames to be lit: The Flame of Destruction, the Flame of Sorrow, and the Flame of Despair, and follow these with the sacrifice of Princess Zelda. The Witches then sent two of their followers to other kingdoms to wreak havoc and lit the flames as a result.
Onox, the General of Darkness, is sent to Holodrum to lit the Flame of Destruction. Veran, the Sorceress of Shadow, is sent to Labrynna to light the Flame of Sorrow. One day Link who had returned from his travel visited Hyrule Castle. There the Triforce beckoned him into its resting chamber. The Triforce then transports him to the land of Holodrum to take care of Onox.
Adventures in Holodrum[]
Upon arriving in Holodrum, Link met a traveling group of performers with one of them being named Din. Link briefly danced with Din, but suddenly a whirlwind appeared and snatched Din away. Din is revealed to be the Oracle of Seasons and she was targeted by Onox as her capture would throw the seasons of the world into chaos. The only way to restore the balance to the seasons was to collect the eight Essences of Nature scattered around Holodrum. Link searched for the location of the essences, using the mythical Rod of Seasons in order to manipulate the seasons to his advantage. Link eventually defeats Onox and rescue Din, but Onox's actions managed to light up the Flame of Destruction. Link was then sent to Labrynna by the Triforce to save it from Veran.
Adventures in Labrynna[]
Upon arriving in Labrynna, Link met Impa who had been attacked by monsters. Link helped Impa by removing a block marked with the Triforce's crest. They then met Nayru who was singing to animals as her childhood friend, Ralph looked on.
Suddenly, Veran revealed herself, she had actually possessed Impa earlier to trick Link into bringing her to Nayru. She then came out of Impa's body and possessed Nayru before disappearing. Nayru was actually the Oracle of Ages and Veran used her time travelling abilities to go back several centuries in the past and influence Queen Ambi into starting the construction of the Black Tower. Link had to use the Harp of Ages to travel back and forth between the present and the past in order to collect the eight Essences of Time and challenge Veran atop the Black Tower. He managed to defeat the Sorceress of Shadow and save Nayru and Ambi but her actions still lit up the Flame of Sorrow.
The Return of Ganon[]
The two witches kidnapped Princess Zelda who had arrived in Labrynna and intended to sacrifice her to complete the ritual with the litting of the Flame of Despair. Link managed to defeat the two witches in their Twinrova form and as a last-ditch effort, the sacrificed themselves instead of Zelda to bring back Ganon.
This botched ritual brought back Ganon as a mindless beast instead of the cunning wizard he once was. This is a trait that Ganon would keep each time he is resurrected until his current incarnation is killed for good. Link faced Ganon in battle and emerged victorious against the King of Darkness for the second time. After that Link left Labrynna by boat.
The Triforce is Split Apart[]
Sometime after the second defeat of the Demon King, Ganon the Triforce was once again split into three pieces through unknown events. Despite being sealed in darkness following both of his defeats at the hands of the Hero of Legend Ganon obtained the Triforce of Power, which remained sealed with him. The Triforce of wisdom remained in possession of the royal family of Hyrule. The location of the Triforce of Courage was unknown but it was said that it was hidden in the heart of the one possessing the Spirit of the Hero.
Conflict with Lorule[]
Generations after Ganon's defeat, the peace of Hyrule is once again troubled. A mysterious wizard known as Yuga is spotted around the kingdom and is quickly linked to the disappearance of the descendants of the Sages. By using his magic, he is able to transform them into painting that he is collecting in order to break Gonon's seal while turning everyone who stands in front of him into paintings left to be forgotten on a wall. Yuga is actually the personal wizard of Princess Hilda, the ruler of Lorule. Lorule is a universe that appears as a parallel version of Hyrule. In the past, Lorule had a civil war similar to both Hyrule's Interlopper War but instead of sealing the Triforce inside the Sacred Realm like the Hyrulean Royal Family did, they saw the Triforce as the source of every problem and destroyed it.
This however was a terrible mistake as the land itself was linked to the power of the Gods and destroying it sent Lorule into a spiral of decay. Sometimes before Yuga's invasion, the dark mage discovered a dimensional crack in Lorule's Sacred Realm that led to Hyrule. With his power he was able to go to Hyrule and learned about their Triforce. Hilda and Yuga crafted a plot to gather the descendants of the Sages and Zelda to free Ganon, obtain his Triforce and then takes the one in Zelda's hand. And so, as Link goes after Yuga after withnessing him capturing Seres. He is however powerless against him and knocked unconscious. He is then rescued by Ravio a mysterious merchant that gives him a strange bracelet. Later when Link faces Yuga he is defeated and turned into a painting but thanks to the bracelet, he becomes able to master parts of Yuga's magic and gain the ability to become a painting at will like the dark mage. After exiting the Eastern Palace where he fought Yuga, Link and Sahasrahla withness a barrier being raised around Hyrule Castle by Yuga. As Link tries to gather the Pendants of Virtue to pull out the Master Sword out of its pedestal and break the barrier, Yuga goes around the kingdom to gather the remaining descendants.
As Link breaks into the castle, he withnesses Yuga capturing Zelda, his last target and fight the mage. This time Yuga is defeated and unable to use his magic against Link as the bracelet render it useless, so he escapes in Lorule. Link follows him and arrives at Lorule Castle where Yuga frees Ganon with the power of the descendants of the Sages and fuse with the mindless beast, thus becoming "the mind" of an otherwise unintelligent monster. This sets Hilda's plot into its next phase. The paintings of descendants of the Sages are scattered across Lorule except for Zelda who is left in the castle and Hilda appears before Link and restraint Yuga to trick Link into believing that she is on his side. Hilda send Link to awaken the descendants of the Sages into the new Sages as they hold the key to find the Triforce of Courage hidden in Link's heart and the only piece escaping her grasp at this point. And so Link saves Impa, Irene, Gulley, Rosso, Oren, Osfala and Seres. Becoming the Hero worthy of the Triforce of Courage.
After claiming the Triforce, Link rushes to Lorule Castle only to find Hilda who claims the Triforce of Wisdom, explain to him the truth about her kingdom's past and how she intends to take his triforce before pitting Yuga against him. Yuga loses however and instead of giving his Triforce to Hilda like she asked, he turn her into a painting and absorb her power, explaining that he always planned to betray her to create his own version of the world with the Triforce. With his own power combined with Ganon and both pieces of the Triforce Yuga sets his sights upon the last missing piece of the Triforce. With the help of the Bow of Light obtained from Zelda, Link manages to defeat Yuga and destroy both him and Ganon. This returns both Zelda and Hilda to their natural form. Hilda still tries to fight Link for the sake of her kingdom but is stopped by Ravio who reveals himself as Link's Lorulean counterpart. Ravio manages to convince Hilda to stop her madness and she send back Link and Zelda to Hyrule through the crack found in the Sacred Realm, which disappears afterward. Link and Zelda wakes up in the Sacred Realm where they find the Triforce, which was reunited as a result of the fight between its bearer. They wish for the return of Lorule's Triforce and as such it returns to Lorule's Sacred Realm.
Travels to Hytopia[]
After the defeat of Yuga, the Hero of Hyrule traveled away from Hyrule to the north and eventually made his way to the neighbouring kingdom of Hytopia. There he learned that the evil witch, Lady Maud, had cursed Princess Styla to wear an irremovable, brown jumpsuit. Link, fitting the kingdom's depictions of a legendary hero is recruited to be part of the Witch-Hunting Brigade alongside others who match his physical description of having pointy ears and sideburns. Link teams up with Madame Couture, Lady Maud's younger sister, and manage to reach the witch's lair thanks to the magic gifted to him by the various costumes Madame Couture made for him. At the end Lady Maud is defeated and frees the princess from her curse before escaping. Link is celebrated as Hytopia's hero and thanked in person by Sir Combsly and King Tuft. An unknown amount of time after these events, Hytopia actually merges with Hyrule and becomes the northen region of the kingdom seen in the future. This led to a surge of powerful magic users in Hyrule during the Era of Decline as Hytopia was known for its many powerful mages.
Echoes of Wisdom[]
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, features Zelda as the protagonist. Princess Zelda is held captive within a Crystal by Ganon at the begining of game. She is rescued by Link, who soundly defeats Ganon. However, before she can be freed from her Crystal, Ganon's Trident creates a rift in the ground which swallows Link into it. Before he falls through it completely, Link shoots an Arrow at the Crystal, causing it to break and release Zelda. As the rift expands through the battlefield, Zelda narrowly escapes and reunites with Soldiers outside.
Zelda is captured and jailed at some point. During her imprisonment, she meets a Fairy named Tri, who grants her the Tri Rod. This artifact is capable of creating Echoes of Objects and slain Monsters by channeling its user's wisdom. By using the Tri Rod, Zelda escapes her prison and sets out to save Hyrule from the Trident's rifts that are now threatening its people.
The Golden Era[]
Following the defeat of Yuga and the recovery of the Triforce, Hyrule entered an age of prosperity. The various rulers who came to rule the kingdom were good and used the power of the Triforce to assure the security, peace and prosperity of their people. This is where Hyrule would have its last good ruler. An aging King known to have been very wise and benevolent in his life feared for the future of his kingdom and searched for someone who could inherit the Triforce after him as his son was far from what he considered a good person and if the Triforce would fell into the wrong hand it could ruin the kingdom. The king was unable to find someone who would fit what he was looking for during the rest of his own life. The king then split the Triforce once again and only left the Triforce of Power and Wisdom in the hands of the prince. The king died soon after bringing the Golden Era to an end.
The Era of Decline[]
The Tragedy of Princess Zelda[]
Upon receiving only two pieces of the Triforce, the prince was furious and started frantically looking for the Triforce of Courage but was unable to find it. Then a mysterious wizard came to the prince's aid and told him that his younger sister Princess Zelda was probably told where the Triforce of Courage was hidden by their father. The prince and the wizard then go to Zelda and demands that she turn the information over. Zelda refuses to answer the prince's question and the wizard in a fit of rage sacrifice himself to put her into an endless sleep for eternity. Overcome with grief, the prince sealed his sleeping sister in the North Castle and ordered that all female descendants of the Hylian monarchy were to be named Zelda. As the Princess was the only one knowing the location of the Triforce of Courage, it was lost to the ages and the kingdom slowly declined without the power of the Gods.
The Return of the Demon King[]
After being gone for two eras, Ganon returns. The Demon King was revived through unknown means and is still the same incarnation. This means that the Demon King is once again a mindless monster with the goal of ruining the kingdom of Hyrule and claim the Triforce. Ganon easily overun the crippled kingdom and destroyed most settlements leaving the remaining survivors to live in caves.
Ganon took over Hyrule and claimed the Triforce of Power like he did in the past. Zelda fearing, he would eventually get his hands on the full Triforce splited the Triforce of Wisdom into eight pieces that were hidden across the land. She then ordered her maid, Impa, to go find someone with enough courage to oppose Ganon. Impa was pursued by Ganon's monsters across the land and as she was about to get caught, she was saved by a young traveler by the name of Link who skillfully defeated her pursuers. The old maid told Link her story and what happened to the Triforce in hope that the young Hero would help them against Ganon. Link accepted to defeat the Demon King's army and sought to reform the Triforce of Wisdom and defeat Ganon at Death Mountain. By defeating Ganon, Link finally put an end to this incarnation of Ganon and managed to retrieve the Triforce of Power.
The Hero's Quest to Reunite the Triforce[]
Although Ganon was defeated by Link, his underlings remained in the kingdom. In a last-ditch effort to resurrect Ganon once more they plotted to kill Link and sprinkling his blood on the ashes of the Demon King as he was the one who overthrew him. Meanwhile, the restoration of the kingdom was under way and Link was helping the newly reconstructed settlements.
One day the mark of the Triforce of Courage appeared on Link's left hand as he approached his 16th birthday. Link not knowing why the mark resembled the crest of the kingdom went to see Impa, which was shocked by the appearance of the mark. She told him about the existence of the third part of the Triforce as well as the past of the kingdom and the Tragedy of Princess Zelda. The crest was a sign that he was the Hero fated to awaken Zelda and find the missing Triforce thus ending the endless decline of the kingdom.
Impa entrusted to Link six Crystals and a scroll so he could reunite the Triforce. The scroll revealed the location of the long-lost Triforce of Courage, which was hidden in the Great Palace in the Valley of Death. Link set out for the six palaces that fell under the control of Ganon's minions and defeat them as well as the guardian deities hidden inside them tasked with testing the Hero. After facing the last guardian, Thunderbird, left behind by the Wise King himself to protect the Triforce, he has to go through the final trial, facing his own shadow given life, Dark Link. Link is deemed worthy and obtain the Triforce of Courage thus breaking the curse put over Zelda who awakens from her ancient sleep. With the failure of Ganon's followers to revive their master, the incarnation of Ganon who was the one that first violated the Sacred Realm came to an end.
Wild Timeline[]
The Wild Timeline refers to a series of event located at the end of one of the branches, but it is currently up to the player's interpretation in which it falls according to the series' producer.
Era of Myth[]
The Era of Myth occurs far later from other timelines to the point where the events of the past have largely been forgotten or deformed. One of the few certainties of the Era of Myth is that the cycle of reincarnation of the chosen ones became common knowledge to the people at the time and that at some point another reincarnation of Demise was born and eventually became the Demon King once again. During this era, the Sheikah who had almost been driven to extinction in the past also came back as a major power in Hyrule after their population had grown back to normal. The Sheikahs then coupled their traditional knowledge with their will to take advantage of a period of peace to prepare for Ganon's inevitable return. They worked on developing new technology and Hyrule was pushed beyond every technological boundary it had in the past reaching a level where computers, autonomous warrior robots and teleportation are not only possible but pretty widely used.
The Zonai and the Founding of Hyrule[]
Long before the founding of Hyrule the Zonai descended from the sky. But after many centuries, the only remaining Zonai were Rauru and his sister Mineru. Rauru and his Hylian wife Sonia found the kingdom of Hyrule. Princess Zelda appears in this time from the Upheavel, having travelled back in time.
The Imprisoning War[]
Ganondorf attempts to conquer Hyrule by force but his forces are destroyed by the powers of Rauru, Sonia, and Zelda. He then pretends to ally with the Hylians as a ruse, though they are aware of this. Despite their precautions, Ganondorf assassinates Queen Sonia and corrupts her Secret Stone, becoming the Demon King. In the war that follows Rauru recruits five sages (a Rito, a Goron, a Zora, a Gerudo, and his sister Mineru) and battle Ganondorf. However, Ganondorf's power is too powerful, and they are unable to defeat him. In the end Rauru can only seal him, keeping him under Hyrule Castle, but losing his own life in the process.
The Light Dragon[]
Following the war Zelda passed on a message to four of the sages, telling them of a swordsman from her time named Link. While at the Temple of Time, Zelda receives the decayed Master Sword that was damaged by Ganondorf during Zelda's time. The Deku Tree had previously told her that the sword could be healed if bathed in sacred light. Zelda remembers a process Mineru mentioned called draconification, where one swallows their Secret Stone and becomes an immortal dragon, but lose their very self in the process with no way to turn back. Zelda swallows her stone and becomes the Light Dragon, with the Master Sword left in her head to heal for millenia.
The First Calamity[]
When Ganon came back, it was as a gigantic ghostly apparition made out of pure malice and dubbed Calamity Ganon by the Hyruleans. Having anticipated the return of the Demon King, the Hyrulean had developed a large robotic army led by four gigantic mobile fortresses in the shape of animals known as the Divine Beasts. These Divine Beasts were piloted by four Champions tasked with helping the expected reincarnation of the Hero and the descandant of Hylia in their fight against the Calamity Ganon. Upon his arrival, Calamity Ganon is immediatly assaulted by the full might of the army's lasers, weakening him enough to be defeated by the princess wielding her sacred power and the Hero with the Master Sword. It was then prophesied that Calamity would eventually return.
The 10,000 years without the Calamity[]
Due to the frightening power found within the Sheikah technology, the King who was ruling when the First Calamity occurred became paranoid of a possible betrayal. He issued an ultimatum that prompted the Sheikahs to abandon their advanced and warrior ways or face brutal persecution. Some of the Sheikah accepted that and became the peaceful community of Kakariko Village but those who refused were banished and subdued until the king had control of the entire mechanical army, which he buried in hope of leaving it lost to time. The only technology that was left under the Sheikahs' control was the shrines who were hidden beneath the ground waiting for the return of the Hero. With their technology gone, the Hyrulean reverted to a more primitive state that was more similar to the kingdom's original state for 10,000 years. The Sheikah who were exiled swore to get back at the kingdom and formed the Yiga Clan who continued the Sheikah's warrior tradition. They eventually started to worship Calamity Ganon as they saw it as a way to ruin Hyrule for good.
Signs of the Calamity Reviving[]
10,000 years after the First Calamity, King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule is the ruler of the kingdom of Hyrule. He eventually has a daughter, which is named Zelda according to tradition. As a child, Zelda is fascinated with ancient relics and manages to repair a small Guardian called Terrako. When Zelda was 6, her mother died suddenty. Terrako is then eventually taken away by the king who wants her to focus on her training. Zelda was then trained for the next 11 years to unlock the power found in her blood, often to no avail. During this time, it was prophesied that Calamity Ganon would return soon, and around that time that the traces of the robotic army of ancient times was discovered. Now knowing for sure that Ganon was more than an old myth, the King lifted the ban on Sheikah technology, created a team of Sheikah scientists led by Impa and Dr. Purah and tasked with excavating and researching the old technology. In parallel, the reincarnation of the hero was discovered as a prodigal young swordsman who quickly became famous and proved he was worthy of obtaining the Master Sword. Zelda grew to be very fond of the machine and became involved with the research as she was not able to awaken her power despite her repeated tries. Four new Champions were chosen to be the new pilots of the Divine Beast. Revali was chosen to be the Rito champion, Daruk was chosen to be the Goron champion, Princess Mipha was chosen as the Zora champion, and Urbosa was chosen as the Gerudo champion. Link was then assigned as Zelda's protector and remained at her side until the return of Ganon. Zelda was determined to awaken her power and prayed at the three springs of the goddesses in Hyrule, but her efforts met with failure. As she returns from the last spring, Calamity Ganon returns.
The Great Calamity Occurs[]
From there, the timeline splits in two. This timeline is the one where Calamity Ganon takes the kingdom of Hyrule by surprise and destroy most of it during the Great Calamity. Meanwhile Terrako is sent back to another timeline to prevent that from happening.
The Great Calamity[]
Ganon appears from under Hyrule Castle and immediately kills everyone inside including the king. Ganon then makes a move that nobody expected and uses his malice to take over the Guardians and the Divine Beasts. The four Champions that were sent back to their Divine Beast are ambushed by powerful creations of Ganon and are killed. Ganon then unleashes a flood of Guardians upon Hyrule. They almost immediatly destroyed Hyrule Castle Town and start to spread across the kingdom ravaging everything on their path.
The Zoras are largely unaffected by this due to the Zora Rive being shaped like a bottleneck, which allows the Zora warriors to defend the domain pretty easily and they decimate most of the Guardians sent their way without suffering many losses. The Hylian knights were cornered to the Akkala Citadel in Akkala and made their last stand in an epic siege. Many Guardians were destroyed and the entirety of the Hylian military was wiped out. Meanwhile Link and Zelda were fleeing to Fort Hateno to make their last stand and protecting Hateno Village from the coming machines. Link being the chosen hero of the Master Sword manages to destroy an incredible amount of Guardian for a single person while defending the fort, but he eventually fell. Zelda being faced with the threat of losing someone close to her before her eyes manages to unlock her power and destroys the remaining Guardians. Her awakening also awakens Terrako who uses his powers to travel back in time by opening a Gate of Time. He is followed by some of the malice that spill into the gate. Zelda then believe that Link has died but hears the voice of the Master Sword telling her that there is still time to revive him by using the Shrine of Resurrection.
She tasks surviving Sheikah scientists, notably Purah, Impa and Robbie, to bring Link to the Shrine of Resurrection. She then took the Master Sword and went to the Great Deku Tree to leave it under his watch until Link would be able to claim it back. She then headed alone to Hyrule Castle to take on Ganon by herself. While facing the beast, she used her newfound power to seal Ganon and herself inside the castle. After this, Ganon’s influence was greatly reduced throughout the land. Most of the surviving Guardians were almost all located near Hyrule Castle and didn’t try to go after anyone outside of their patrol area. The Divine Beasts completely stopped to work and fell asleep.
Age of the Burning Fields[]
After the Great Calamity ended, Hyrule started to slowly heal and thus started the Age of Burning Fields. The land was completely devastated, and the kingdom was basically left without an actual king. This resulted in more independance from each settlement who were left alone without a unified Hyrulean army and government while the wild was populated by Ganon’s monsters. People were forced to learn to live in the wild to survive. The authority within the non Hylian tribes was passed to local leaders and the Hylians were essentially left without a leader. After putting Link into the Shrine of Resurrection, Impa, Purah, and Robbie decide to split up so that even if they are killed at least one person would be able to help Link upon his return. It is also during that time that the Yiga Clan flourish as nobody other the Gerudo are in active conflict with them. They spend most of this time to prepare for the return of the Hero in order to kill him in the name of Ganon. After 100 years of relative peace, the Age of Burning Fields ends with the weakening of Zelda’s seal over Ganon and the reawakening of Link.
Era of the Wilds[]
Eventually, Zelda’s seal on Ganon begins to weaken allowing the beast to manifest itself around Hyrule Castle while still being trapped on it. This return of Ganon’s power causes a reactivation of the Divine Beasts who start terrorizing the tribes of their former pilots who were located nearby. Link finally awakens from his 100 years sleep but without memories of his past. He is initially guided by the spirit of the late king who tells him about their past and send him to go and find Impa for further instructions. Upon finding Impa, she passes upon him Zelda’s last message and task him with freeing the Divine Beasts from Ganon’s influence. She also tells him to find Purah in order to fix his partially broken Sheikah Slate. Upon finding Purah and fixing his Sheikah Slate, Link learn that there were photos taken by Zelda from 100 years ago left in the slate’s memory. Impa tells him that going to the place where those photos were taken may be able to bring back his memory.
Link is indeed able to recover most of his memory after going to all the places where he was with Zelda in the past. Link eventually frees all of the Divine Beasts by destroying the entities Ganon sent to each of them 100 years ago to take them over. This liberates the spirits of the deceased Champions who are able to regain control of the Divine Beasts and turn their aim on Ganon waiting for the final battle. Link is also able to find and reclaim the Master Sword after proving himself to be worthy of his power again. He then passes the trials prepared by the ancient Sheikah monks in order to gain greater powers. With the Trial of the Sword, Link is able to reveal the true power of the Master Sword and hear its voice once again. The last trial however is given to him by Monk Maz Koshia and ends with a fight between the monk and the hero. As a reward for defeating him, Maz Koshia gives him his own Divine Beast, the Master Cycle Zero.
With his newfound allies and abilities, Link heads to Hyrule Castle with the goal to face Calamity Ganon. Zelda’s seal finally breaks as Link is starring at Ganon’s vessel. Zelda’s influence had prevented him from creating a fully functioning vessel and Link confronts the calamity in the form of some sort of Ganondorf-like being with mechanical Sheikah parts attached to it. Link defeats the calamity with the help of the Champions, but his presence remains in the form of malice and escape to Hyrule Fields. Link is teleported here by Zelda and granted the Bow of Light as Ganon gather what remains of his malice to takes his beast form in a desperate attempt to not give up on his reincarnation. Link defeats the beast and Zelda is freed from his body as a result. Zelda then uses what remains of her power to destroy what remains of Ganon. Link and Zelda are reunited.
After the dust clears, King Rhoam and the Champions float above Hyrule Castle as they bid farewell to the duo before they leave the mortal world to start their next life. Link and Princess Zelda would begin the reconstruction of Hyrule by going to Zora's Domain and notices that something was wrong Divine Beast Vah Ruta and resolves to investigate the problem. Thinking of Mipha's father, King Dorephan she deduces that he would like to know more about his daughter and the least she and Link can do is give him closure. Given that they have a lot of work to do to restore Hyrule, it starts with them. As she walks off, she stops and notes that she no longer hears the voice in the Master Sword and believes that it was her power had dwindled over time and she soon smiles as she surprisingly accepts it as they head out for their destination.
The Upheaval[]
Several years later a dark red substance called gloom begins appearing in Hyrule, which makes people sick when they come into contact with it. Searching for its source, Linka and Zelda venture under Hyrule Castle and discover a mummy held by an arm. The mummy, revealed to be Ganondorf, comes to life and attacks, destroying part of the Master Sword and severly injuring Link's right arm. Ganondorf begins lifting parts of the world, including Hyrule Castle, and Zelda begins to fall into the land below Hyrule, called the Depths, missing Link's attempt to grab her. Zelda, who picked up the Secret Stone dropped by the floating arm, activates both it and the stone she already had, causing her to be transported back in time. Link awakens on the Great Sky Island, where he meets Rauru's spirit. At the Temple of Time, Link puts the damaged Master Sword on a pedestal, sending it back in time.
Link learns that aside from the upheaval of land, other disasters have struck the regions of Hyrule. The Rito are suffering a blizzard, the Goron have become addicted to a mysterious substance called Rock Roast, the Zora's region has been covered in mud-like goop, and the Gerudo's desert has been clouded by a sandstorm. In addition, various sightings of Zelda have been reported around the kingdom, often accompanied by strange or suspicious happenings. Link awakens the new sages (Tulin, Yunobo, Sidon, and Riju, who are descended from the sages of the Imprisoning War. After this he is informed of a sixth sage by Purah. He finds the sage, Mineru, whose spirit was residing in the Purah-designed Purah Pad, and Link builds a construct for her to occupy.
Link and the five sages travel to the Depths below Hyrule Castle, where they battle the Demon King's army before Link defeats Ganondorf in a fight. Ganondorf swallows the Secret Stone he had taken from Sonia, transforming him into the Demon Dragon, but Link defeats him with the help of the Light Dragon. Following this, the spirits of Rauru and Sonia use their powers to turn the Light Dragon back into Zelda and restore Link's right arm. Link and Zelda fall from the sky into a lake, with Zelda not remembering her time as the Light Dragon.
Some time later, Link, Zelda, Purah, and the four sages say goodbye to Mineru as she departs for the afterlife. Link and the sages pledge to protect Princess Zelda, though they stumble over the pledge when they read it. Zelda swears to provide eternal peace to Hyrule.
The Calamity is Averted[]
From there, the timeline splits into two. This is the timeline in which Terrako arrives after traveling back in time alongside the Calamity. The events set in motion by those two entities will result in the defeat of Calamity Ganon.
The mysterious Guardian from the future[]
Terrako arrives in Hyrule Field before the Calamity happens. Meanwhile, the malice who had followed him takes over the Terrako from this timeline and turn it into the Harbinger Ganon who serves as a vessel for the consciousness of the future Ganon in the past. King Rhoam was defending hyrule Field from monsters with his army when Terrako arrived, and he is found by Link who needs to save Impa from Bokoblins before he can inspect the Guardian. Impa makes her Sheikah Slate fall on him, which activate a nearby Sheikah Tower before it should have. After the battle, Terrako rush off to find Zelda who doesn't rember him but is intrigued by his ability to control the tower. Link is appointed as Zelda's bodyguard, and they are sent to Purah and Robbie by the king to obtain any information on the nature of the mysterious Guardian. On their way, they are attacked by a Guardian who is possessed by some of the malice that came from the future. While Link distract it, Terrako is able to activate dormant Guardians and have them shoot at the hostile one. Once they reach the lab, Purah and Robbie confirm that Terrako is a Guardian that can amplify the effects of ancient Sheikah technology. They also find out that he holds memories of the future Great Calamity in his databank, which is when they realize that he has time traveled.
Recruiting the Champions[]
The king wants to find the knight worthy of the Master Sword but Korok Forest is blocked by enemies. He asks Zelda to enlist the candidates to the role of Champion to use the Divine Beasts to clear the way. On their way to Rito Village, they are attacked by the Rito army led by Revali who believe that they are raiders. Link and Revali fight and are evenly matched, the fight had been stopped by Zelda. Revali tells them that they have been attacked by an army of monster led by a Guardian similar to Terrako, which worries Impa. Revali then accepts to pilot Vah Medoh, and seems to doubt Link's prowess. They then head to Zora's Domain to recruit princess Mipha. There, King Dorephan refuses until they have the Master Sword as it would be dangerous for his daughter otherwise. As they speak, they are attacked by monsters. Mipha is tasked with protecting her younger brother Prince Sidon but he disappears and go try to fight a Lynel on his own. He is saved by Mipha and the king agrees that she pilot Vah Ruta as the Zora cannot repel the monsters alone. They then go to Death Mountain where Daruk immediatly agrees to pilot Vah Rudania but tell them that monsters block the path to the Divine Beast. After clearing a path, Daruk gives his support to the princess. While heading to Gerudo Town to recruit Urbosa, the group is attacked by Gerudo warriors. To try to understand why, they fight their way to the palace where Urbosa tries to kill Zelda to "thwart their destiny". She is struck by lightning casted by the real Urbosa as the one hostile to them is revealed to be Master Kohga who immediately send the Yiga Clan against the princess and her allies. Kohga is eventually defeated but he manages to escape with the help of his lieutenant Sooga. Urbosa then accept to pilot Vah Naboris. The Yiga Clan are then seen talking with Astor, the dark prophet. Astor is a Ganon worshipper who stumbled upon the Harbinger and has been given power by the future Ganon in order to help him stop destiny from changing. Astor is able to use the Harbinger to see the future and plan their strategy accordingly.
Arrival of the Calamity[]
With the help of Vah Medoh, the path to Korok Forest is cleared. in the forest, the group meets Hestu who promise to show them the way to the Great Deku Tree and the Master Sword if they help him clear the forest of monster. Astor had been creating malice thanks to his newfound powers and with it he had created Hollows, malice replicas of the champions, that he used to block the path to the Master Sword. When Link and Zelda arrive in front of the sword, they find Astor who uses his Hollows to overwhelm Link and attempt to kill Zelda. Link is however able to pull the Master Sword out of its pedestal and defeat Astor who is forced to retreat. After the battle, Purah discover that there are other towers across Hyrule and that they could be used to locate the Yigas. Meanwhile the king still disapproved of Zelda's continued obsession with relics but still accept a small one from her. The Yigas realise what the Hyruleans are planning and Sooga takes over Akkala Citadel with his army to prevent the last tower from being raised as the group go around the kingdom raising the other towers. Sooga is defeated and Purah obtains a map leading to the Yiga Clan Hideout. Urbosa then leads an assault with Vah Naboris and the clan is forced to flee. Kohga and Sooga then confront and threaten Astor who reminds them that trying to harm Ganon's prophet will result in a punishment from him. Purah soon discover the ability of the towers to teleport things around. They then discover from Terrako's memories that the Great Calamity is set to take place on Zelda's 17th birthday. The king sends her to the Spring of Courage to try to awaken her powers but that fails. She then decides to go to the Spring of Wisdom on her birthday as those who are 17 are only allowed to go to it.
Meanwhile, Purah and Robbie have finished to analyze Terrako's memories, but they are ambushed by the Yia Clan. Purah throws her Sheikah Slate to Terrako who rush to Zelda's side as she departed to the spring. She sees the small guardian and at that moment Calamity Ganon returns. The group fights their way out of the castle which is being taken over by Ganon and are saved from a group of Guardians by the king who stays behind as Zelda escapes. They soon realize that the Divine Beasts have also fallen under Ganon's control and as everything seems to be lost, Terrako uses his powers to open four new Gates of Time. As Mipha is going to die to Waterblight Ganon, she is saved by a time traveling adult Sidon from the future. Likewise, Daruk is saved from Fireblight Ganon by Yunobo. Revali is saved from Windblight Ganon by Teba, and Urbosa is saved from Thunderblight Ganon by Riju. This extra help allows them to last long enough to be saved by the group and the blights are destroyed. After the fight, Princess Zelda recalls Sidon's words that he saw his sister being attacked and went back in time and she realized that it was Terrako's doing that allowed the Four Champion Pilots to survive and thanks it as she, Link, Terrako, and Impa make their way to Akkala Citadel to help the Hylian soldiers stationed there. Once he saw that the Champions escaped their fates, Astor is seen taking the souls of the Yiga Clan footsoldiers to revive the blights. Kohga and Sooga try to confront him, but Astor sends a Hollow Link after them and Kohga manages to escape with the desire to betray Ganon.
Preventing the Great Calamity[]
The party then goes to Akkala Citadel to break the siege and free Robbie. Unlike in the other timeline, Vah Ruta is there to assist the citadel and the assault is fought back. The party then heads to Fort Hateno to help Purah but Astor and the four blights appear mid battle and attack Link. Link is unable to defeat all the blights at once, but he is saved by Zelda who awakens her powers in time to allow him to live. The blights are obliterated, and Astor is forced to flee. After the battle Zelda is approached by Master Kohga who wants to deffect to their side alongside what remains of his clan. The party then heads to the Great Plateau where they heard that a group of soldiers were under siege by monsters. Once there, they realise that the king is amongst them as he survived, thanks to Zelda's relic, which turned out to be an ancient shield that blocked the Guardian's lasers. Using the teleporting feature of the Sheikah Towers, the group then teleports all the armies from the kingdom in Hyrule Field alongside the Divine Beast and start to march on Hyrule Castle to defeat Calamity Ganon. They manage to make it to the castle after fighting under a Blood Moon, which boosts Ganon's power.
As they arrive to the castle, they find Astor and the Harbinger now warped into a humanoid form. The group engages and defeat both of them and as Astor tries to give orders to Ganon, he absorbs him as his new vessel and turn into a fully revived Calamity Ganon. The influence of malice immediately corrupts Terrako who is forced to fight against the group and eventually defeated. Zelda now remembers the Guardian from her childhood and confronts Ganon in anger. The party is unable to damage the shielded Ganon until the heavily damaged Terrako jump on him to generate an explosion of ancient energy, which breaks his shield. Ganon is soon defeated by the combined force of the Master Sword and Zelda's powers.
After the Great Calamity[]
Soon after the calamity is averted, the warriors who came from the future are forced to return to their timeline, leaving the world they helped save behind. The group then set out to rebuild Terrako who is finally completed an unknown amount of time after the calamity once Zelda has gathered every piece that were spread around Hyrule by the explosion.
