Emperor Maltazard, also known as Maltazard and The Evil M, is the father of Darkos, the emperor of Necropolis, and the main antagonist in the Arthur and the Invisibles franchise, which is based on the 2002 French book Arthur and the Minimoys by Luc Besson. He is one of the two main antagonists (the other being Ernest Davido) in the 2006 film Arthur and the Invisibles, the titular main antagonist in the 2009 film Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard and the main antagonist in the 2010 film Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds. He was voiced by the late David Bowie in the first film, and by the late Lou Reed in the sequels.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Before the series, Maltazard caused the death of the mother of Selenia and Betameche, and her death was the reason why Selenia was always arrogant.
- He murdered bugs by eating them, and what's worse is that some of them were even alive.
- He Imprisoned Arthur's grandfather Archibald for many years, to the point he nearly went insane.
- He tried to drown the entire minimoy kingdom.
- He kidnapped Selenia and lied about the minimoys being in danger to Arthur, only to catch him in a trap and he used a spider with a grain of rice with the word "help" with that.
- After enlarging his size, he planned on slaving Arthur's hometown to build him a palace.
- He ordered his Seides to break Havoc on Arthur's town endangering many lives and causing a lot of destruction.
- After pretending to care for Darkos he coldly threw him off a balcony, calling him a poor fool.
- He planed to execute Arthur, Archibald and Darkos.
- While he was considered tragic due the fact that he was seduced by a weevil and received a poisonous kiss that corrupted his body and confirmed his madness and because his forces were disbanded, his slaves were released, his spoils divided, and his precious sword plunged into a stone, this is no longer a tragedy as no one was sad what happened to him.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- Despite being heinous, he actually cared about his soldiers. In the first film, when he thought the minimoy kingdom had drowned, he promised to reward them and start festivities with no pragmatic reason given, and in the third film he enlarges them with the potion and claims that he returned for them "as promised".
- While he is taken completely seriously in the first film, he has a few comedic moments in the second and third films, such as when he is chased by an insect before growing and eating said insect or when he drinks coffee and it spills trough his stomach.
