- "Bha ha ha ha! Not Yet! THE BADDLE HAZ JUSD BEGUNN! DIE! XXX! JUSDIE, X!"
- —Sigma
Sigma is the final boss of Mega Man X6. He makes his lair in the third stage of Gate's Secret Lab (marked ??????), fighting the player once they defeat the eight Nightmare Investigators again.
Strategy[]
Sigma (Unfinished)[]
Once Gate unleashes him, Sigma kills Gate and flees deeper into the laboratory, taunting the Maverick Hunters to pursue him. This body is called Sigma (Unfinished).[2] Incompletely restored, this Sigma is little more than a shambling wreck with a feverish rage against X and Zero. He resembles a zombie, fighting with sluggish but powerful attacks. This form is weak to X's Metal Anchor and Zero's Rakukojin.
Bug Shot (バグショット Bagu Shotto)[3] | |
---|---|
Sigma fires a shot from his forehead at the player, often multiple times in a row. | |
Damage: 4:6:7 | |
Bug Cloud (バグクラウド Bagu Kuraudo)[3] | |
Sigma swipes his arm, creating a tall green energy cloud that gradually moves towards the player. It can be pushed back with attacks, and eventually explodes. | |
Damage: 6:8:10 | |
Bug Wave (バグウェーブ Bagu Uēbu)[3] | |
Sigma swipes his arm multiple times, throwing purple energy waves high or low. | |
Damage: 4:6:7 | |
Counter Shot (カウンターショット Kauntā Shotto)[3] | |
Randomly when taking damage (or whenever he is hit by his weakness), Sigma falls over, expelling a purple substance along with green spheres that fly towards the player. | |
Damage: 7:10:12 |
Hell Sigma[]
With his first body destroyed, Sigma emerges in a gigantic, unfinished body called Hell Sigma (ヘルシグマ).[4] This skeletal form covers almost the entire arena with lasers and slime minions, and can only be damaged when his mouth is open. He is weak to Ground Dash and Magma Blade with X, and to Ensuizan and Sentsuizan with Zero.
Minion Summon (ザコ敵召喚 Zako Teki Shōkan)[5] | |
---|---|
Sigma deploys slime-like Sigma heads. They function as enemies, and may drop items like Life Energy and Weapon Energy upon defeat (except for in Xtreme difficulty). Both the player and Sigma can destroy them. They have three possible behaviors:
| |
Damage: 4:6:7 (contact), 1:2:2 (projectile) | |
Giant Laser (巨大レーザー Kyodai Rēzā)[5] | |
Sigma fires a giant horizontal laser from his mouth, covering most of the arena. It can be avoided by hiding under his chin. | |
Damage: 7:10:12 | |
Beam Attack (ビーム攻撃 Bīmu Kōgeki)[5] | |
Sigma opens his mouth and reticles appear on the floor, marking the targets of two vertical lasers shortly after. | |
Damage: 4:6:7 | |
Projectile Attack (弾攻撃 Dan Kōgeki)[5] | |
Sigma launches a small orb that splits into two giant orbs, flying across the arena. He shoots high or low depending on the player's position. This attack is only used when Sigma falls below 50% health. | |
Damage: 9:12:15 |

Trivia[]
- Sigma's body sports the same diamond-shaped gem as the Nightmare Investigators on his visible boot, marking the body as Gate's creation.
- While the player only fights this "incomplete" form of Sigma in Mega Man X6, Sigma is seen in a similar-looking form in the ending cinematic for Mega Man X7, which was presumably an unfinished spare body or what was left of his first form.
- This version of Sigma is the only one to have only one boss theme (as his first phase music is also the music for Secret Lab 3/??????). Hell Sigma's boss theme is a rock guitar medley of Sigma's first form themes from X1 and X2, and his virus form from X2.
- On that note, Sigma's first form is the second to have a boss theme reused from a prior element of the game, the other being Psycho Sigma from Mega Man X5 using the same song as Sigma Head.
