Blizzard Wolfang (ブリザード・ヴォルファング, Burizādo Vorufangu) is a wolf-based Reploid from Mega Man X6 who was created by Gate and serves as Nightmare Investigator.

Characteristics[]

Blizzard Wolfang has the appearance of an ice-covered wolf. His armor is colored with light blues and icy whites, and he possesses the traits of a wolf such as a muzzle, tail, and claws. His head and claws were covered in jagged ice crystals, and he had Gate's signature rhombus-shaped gem in his forehead. In battle he often moved on all-fours like an animal.

Blizzard Wolfang was a level-headed Reploid tormented by deep guilt for his past failures. He felt as though the only way to redeem himself was by following Gate's new orders. He apologized to X before their battle, and tried to get Zero to understand his plight.

History[]

Mega Man X6[]

Wolfang was the leader of a sub-zero environment land development team, and was trusted among his subordinates because of his responsible and level-headed approach to crises.^[1] Wolfang's duties brought him to the North Pole Area on occasion. One day, his team members were attacked by Mavericks and all were killed, except Wolfang, who was able to dispose of all the Mavericks himself. Researchers who opposed Gate took advantage of the incident and schemed to dispose of Wolfang under the justification that he had gone Maverick himself and was responsible for the killings of his team members, deceiving Alia into throwing him into the cold sea and making it look like an accident. At some point, Blizzard and the Maverick Hunter Zero were acquainted.^[2] Zero was aware of the truth behind Wolfang's demise despite the coverup.

Gate eventually revived Wolfang and made him part of his Nightmare investigation team. He was sent to the North Pole Area to investigate the Nightmare-induced avalanches and other peculiar activity. When confronted by the Maverick Hunters, Wolfang thus battles the Hunters out of his deep sense of loyalty to Gate, but they ultimately destroy him and he is killed for the final time. Wolfang seemed to be at peace at the end, as he said "Farewell..." to the Hunters before perishing.

The X Challenge in Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 states that Burn Dinorex and Blizzard Wolfang were formerly bitter rivals.

Strategy[]

Blizzard Wolfang is a nimble opponent, moving on all fours along the slippery ice arena, but he has a relatively simple moveset. His snowballs can be destroyed by the player's weapons, and he only summons icicles at higher boss levels. In Xtreme mode, the fragments from his broken snowballs can hit the player and cause damage too. He is weak to Magma Blade/Shouenzan, which briefly stuns him.

	Blizzard Wolfang spits a snowball. As X, it is fired in an arc towards him, and as Zero, it is fired straight at him. The snowball can be destroyed. In Xtreme mode, each snowball's broken fragments can hit the player.

	Ice Fragment (アイスフラグメント, Aisu Furagumento)[3]
	Blizzard Wolfang clings to the ceiling and spits a series of four snowballs at the player.

	Dash (ダッシュ, Dasshu)[3]
	Blizzard Wolfang dashes along the floor, across the ceiling, or diagonally across the arena. At Lv. 02 or higher, he leaves icicles in his path which linger on the arena's surfaces. In Xtreme Mode, he may summon icicles on the ceiling without dashing at all.

Blizzard Wolfang is part of Sigma's Maverick army in Worlds Unite. After taking part in an attack on the Sky Patrol, he departs for the world of Ōkami. However, his invasion is noticed by local defenders Amaterasu and Issun, who destroy him shortly after Sally Acorn and Wood Man arrive in pursuit.
