Maoh the Giant (マオー・ザ・ジャイアント Maō Za Jaianto) is the boss of the Opening Stage of Mega Man X3. It is a gigantic Mechaniloid[1][2] that was part of Dr. Doppler's army when they attacked the headquarters of the Maverick Hunters.
Strategy[]
Maoh the Giant attacks by punching with the large, spiked iron balls attached to its arms, crushing its enemies and buildings alike. Its only part that can damage the player is its hands, and its only weak point is its head. Unlike the Opening Stage boss in Mega Man X2, Gigantic Mechaniloid CF-0, touching Maoh's head or arms while they are in the background will not damage the player, and its attacks only inflict 1 unit of damage.

Other appearances[]
- Maoh the Giant is a boss in Mega Man X DiVE. In Story Mode, it appears at the end of the game's first stage, Highway Stage 1-1; it later reappears as the final boss of Highway Stage 1-6. Its attack pattern remains relatively unchanged, save for an extra attack where it drags an iron ball along the floor, requiring the player to jump over it.
- Maoh the Giant was planned to appear in the cancelled game Rockman Online.
Other media[]
Maoh the giant appears in the first chapter from the Rockman X3 manga and in card #93 from Rockman X Mega Mission 3.

Etymology[]
- Maoh is a variant of the Romanization for まおう (Maō), which is often transcribed into kanji "魔王" (lit. "Demon King", also a translation for "Devil").
Trivia[]
- A similar robot, a Reploid named Hell the Giant, appears in Mega Man Zero 4.
- Coincidentally, Maoh is said to be a Reploid in the book Rockman Memories, although this may be an error as most sources show that he is a Mechaniloid.
