The Rebellion Army, or the Rebellion (リベリオン Riberion, mistranslated as Liberion in the U.S. manual) for short, is a group of Reploids who serve as the primary antagonists in Mega Man X: Command Mission. Led by Epsilon, the Rebellion Army takes over Giga City and banishes all humans as he and his followers strive to evolve through the use of the mysterious and powerful Force Metal.
History[]
After witnessing firsthand the potential power of Force Metal on Reploids, Epsilon built the Rebellion Army to help overtake Giga City and make it into a place where Reploids could freely evolve using Force Metal. He designated Scarface as his right-hand man, with Ferham and Botos joining him as the Cadre to lead the Rebellion. The Rebellion peacefully exiled all humans from the island, and demanded the Federation recognize Giga City as an independent state. In response to the uprising, the Federation labelled them Mavericks and Colonel Redips sent a team to arrest Epsilon - however, these agents were never heard of again. Additionally, a Resistance began forming within Giga City to fight back against the Rebellion's occupation, forcing the Rebellion to use force to keep them down.
As a final shot before all-out war was necessary, Colonel Redips sent another team consisting of three high-performance Maverick Hunters: X, Zero, and Shadow. However, Shadow betrayed X and Zero into the hands of Epsilon and the Cadre in the Lagrano Ruins. They tried to get X and Zero to join them, but the seasoned Hunters fought back and were separated in the scuffle. Epsilon was not bothered by this development, as the Rebellion had already obtained and synthesized the powerful Supra-Force Metal and were about to put their plans into action.
Rebellion officers such as Wild Jango and Silver Horn fought to suppress the Resistance, while Dr. Psyche moved to recruit Professor Gaudile and steal the Force Metal Generator, and Mach Jentra continued to supply Preon soldiers. The Rebellion also secretly continued their work with Supra-Force Metal; while its primary use was to someday help Reploids evolve, they also created a missile with Supra-Force Metal in the warhead, which would give power to the Rebellion's demands with other nations. However, X joined the Resistance and began retaking Giga City with their help, while Zero fought solo for a time. Additionally, Botos began plotting to steal Supra-Force Metal and abandon the Rebellion.
Ultimately, almost all of the Rebellion members were killed by X and his party, save for Botos who was killed by a mysterious interloper and Ferham who was taken out of commission by injuries. After Colonel Redips revealed his true colors as a Maverick, X's party fought and stopped him with the help of Ferham. With the truth of the incident exposed to the public, the Federation posthumously deferred Epsilon of his Maverick status.
Members[]
Commander[]
Epsilon leads the Rebellion Army, being addressed as Commander (総帥 Sōsui).
Cadre[]
The Cadre (幹部 Kanbu, "Executives") are the three highest ranking members after Epsilon. Among them, Scarface is the closest to Epsilon and works as his right-hand man.[1] The term "cadre" is used inconsistently throughout the English version of the game; while it is mostly used to describe the group, in Chapter 8, both Botos and Zero pluralize the term into "cadres" as an individual title that the three of them each have as well.
Other members[]
- Incentas (associate cadre)[note 1]
- Wild Jango[note 2]
- Silver Horn
- Dr. Psyche
- Mach Jentra
- Shadow
- Duckbill Mole
- Rafflesian (possibly)

Trivia[]
- The Rebellion Army logo resembles the Greek uppercase letter "Υ" (ypsilon), a reference to Epsilon's original Japanese name "Ypsilon" (イプシロン Ipushiron).
- During the first chapter, when X, Zero and Shadow are infiltrating Giga City, Zero points out four "high-performance units" and eight "combat units" were customized in Reploid production pods in Lagrano Ruins and make up the Rebellion Army. While the former refers to the Rebellion Army's Commander and three Cadre, the total number of lower-ranked members of the Army seemingly don't match up as, there are only five who act as chapter bosses that the party faces (Wild Jango, Silver Horn, Dr. Psyche, Incentas and Mach Jentra). Even if one were to include the turncoat Shadow and Duckbill Mole (who are members of the Rebellion Army, if not traditional final chapter bosses) there's still one operative unaccounted for.
- Given that the Tails' clan are unaffiliated with either the Rebellion Army or the Resistance, Depth Dragoon loyalty is to the Maverick Hunters and Redips has his own personal agenda, it's likely that the final operative could be Rafflesian - who is a secret boss that fills a similar role to Duckbill Mole (guarding an upgrade meant for a party member, X's Ultimate Armor in her case), but whose allegiance was never made clear.
