For his video game counterpart, see Mr. Gauss. |
Magnus Gauss[2], known as Gauss Magnets (ガウス・マグネッツ Gausu Magunettsu) in Japan, is an antagonist in the MegaMan NT Warrior anime series and the original NetOp of MagnetMan. He was part of the Zap family with the name Magnus Zap, known as Gauss Elecitel[3] in Japan.
Magnus is the son of Tesla Zap, older brother of Jack Zap, and brother-in-law of Ann. Gauss has a daughter named Tesla.
A leader in the Grave Crime Syndicate, Gauss continued his criminal ways even after Grave fell before being caught by Lan Hikari and Commander Beef. He was put in jail before his daughter breaks him out, though this was only to take MagnetMan back, and Gauss became the housekeeper/janitor for the Neo World Three.
Appearance[]
Like his original counterpart from the video game series, Guass is apparently an elderly man with light gray hair, light gray beard, gray eyebrows, and light blue eyes. Guass wears a white undershirt, a bi-colored suit with the left half being red and the right half black, a gray tie, and black shoes.
Overview[]
Magnus was part of the Zap family. Unlike his video game counterpart, Magnus is the one who left their family and not Count Zap. After their mother died, he married into the Gauss family and changed his family name (in the NT Warrior dub, he ran away from home and changed his surname into "Gauss" after a monumental argument with his parents with no indication of marriage). Magnus claimed the Zap family has no future (in the NT Warrior dub, he claimed that their parents was raising him and Count Zap to be Nobodies, but it wasn't the life for him or Jack).
Magnus' connection is Count Zap is explicitly clear and fleshed out in the anime. In the video games, there is only one reference to this in Mega Man Battle Network 2.
Despite having holding a menacing composer and serious demeanor, Gauss is actually an eccentric and dramatic man who cross dresses in an elaborate dress when he is under duress, a trait that seems to be shared with him and his brother, though Count Zap has only cross dressed once.
History[]
MegaMan NT Warrior[]
Gauss appears several times in the anime. His first appearance is during an episode where Mr. Higsby runs out of money and he offers him a job in his new office. Meanwhile, MagnetMan is robbing banks and transferring money to his account. But, Lan and Chaud Blaze defeat MagnetMan, and go after him. However, Gauss manages to escape in a flying machine.
Later in the series, he offers Maddy a job in Grave which she accepts. It is shown that he is an avid admirer of Mr. Wily. His attempts to drown Lan, Maysa, Sal, and Miyu Kuroi fail when Maddy turns against him.
Gauss appears in another episode where a chip containing Mr. Wily's mind is discovered. He goes to a deserted island to retrieve it, but meets opposition from the WWW. He then reveals that Count Zap is his brother and Zap pretends to join him, but later NetBattles him for the chip. Their airplane blows up though, and neither of them get the chip. Comically, both of them survive the ordeal (even after a heartfelt goodbye by Zap to the remaining WWW members) and continues to bicker while afloat on a glacier. He operates MagnetMan when Lan and his friends infiltrate the old WWW base, but MagnetMan is defeated by MegaMan with the help of ElecMan.
MegaMan NT Warrior Axess[]
In episode 32, Gauss resurfaces and makes a deal with Nebula for Dark Chips through Ms. Yuri. However, he mistakes Ms. Mari for her instead, thus botching the deal once Lan and Commander Beef (Maysa) show up. MagnetMan is once again defeated and Gauss is arrested.
Rockman EXE Stream[]
In episode 9, he is freed from jail by his daughter Tesla Magnets, who takes MagnetMan from him for herself. He becomes the janitor for the Neo WWW. In episode 46, he attempts to rescue his daughter, with the help of Count Zap and several Cross Fusion members, from Dark Rockman.
He later becomes the matchmaker for Charlie Airster and Tesla.
Rockman EXE Beast+[]
He appears in episode 12, where he competes against Count Elec and Ann for the family treasure.
